I applaud Turkey for mediating peace between Ethiopia and Somalia. This is a step in the right direction as these 2 nations are examples of Peace.
I encourage both Ethiopia and Somalia as they cement peace and reconcile their differences to be instruments and agents of peace for Sudan to bring stability progress and prosperity for the region and the suffering people. This will bring an end to the worst humanitarian crisis on the planet. The lord bless Turkey Somalia and Ethiopia as they wind down 2024 and enter 2025 with Peace stability and reconcilition. Keep up the good work at Firstpost.

Lies. Russia Ukraine tensions began way back in 2014 and it was always going to lead to war. Erdogan just sided with Putin's demand becoz he also wants to rebuild back something similar. Putin wants to rebuild back the Soviet Empire by invading and retaking back former colonies and Erdogan wants to rebuild back the Ottoman Islamic Caliphate.

    • @thealienwatcher540

@@vizibilibende5194 There's a reason why these 'Peace' settlements never last becoz they are built on selfish interests. Foreign Policy is about Power and Influence. Turkey has interests and Peace isn't one of them. Turkey has been sponsoring Radical Islamic Jihads against the Kurds in Syria, Iraq and within Turkey. These terror groups have also been Targeting the Gulf States. They also ocasionally sponsor islamic radical groups in Ethiopia and Somali. ISIS and the Al-Shabaab are some of them. What Turkey wants is to rebuild back it's former empire the Ottoman Islamic Caliphate and Somali, the Gulf states, Parts of Ethiopia, Egypt all running up north to turkey were all part of it. If they are brokering 'peaceful agreements' it's not for peace it's for their long term interests of controlling trade within the region.

Ethiopia barely utilizes port Berbera in Somaliland, so what is the point of allowing Ethiopia to have a naval base in Somaliland. Ethiopia WILL NEVER leave. So, don’t invite trouble in the first place. Ethiopia made it very clearly that its natural borders extend to the Red Sea. The Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, stated clearly that they will reach the Red Sea peacefully or forcefully.

Here we go again, another form of colonization is unfolding. Ethiopia has been attempting to dominate Somalia and Somaliland since the late '90s, but their efforts have largely failed. Ethiopian soldiers are now present in many regions of southern Somalia, and if they gain access to the sea, it could be disastrous. Somalia risks becoming the "Palestine of Africa," with no one stepping in to help. It’s puzzling why Somali leaders are allowing this to happen-they seem either clueless or incapable of addressing the situation.

As somali’s we want to share our resources with our neighbors including ethopia, but it has to be done in mutual and legal way.
The beginning of this year Ethopia made a mistake by violating our sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It looks like now they had realized their mistake and want to correct it so we are happy with that, therefore, we don’t mind giving them acces to our sea as long as they do it in respectful and legal way.

There are many ways to do that.. A railway connected to a free-zone can be beneficial to both countries. It is just a matter of bargaining fares and taxes..

    • @abdirahindahir4614
      @abdirahindahir4614 Месяц назад

@ absolutely agree. If you following the story about how the conflict started, Ethopia tried to take part of our sea illegally and forcefully by striking illegal deal with a breakaway region called (Somaliland) that doesn’t have a legitimacy.
Somali government was furies about this and this could have led into war between the two countries which is no intrest for anyone.
I am glad that Ethopia now is backtracked from the illegal deal and trying to do things in correct way.
Always as somali’s we are ready to collaborate with out neighbors, share our resources but it must be mutual and based with respect.
As long as we have these principles in place together we can prosper.

Ethiopia may sound like an aggressor on paper but the reality is that it is also a vicious task to design borders so as to especially land-lock a big country.
I dont know history but I can guess that is a Euro-colonialist design.
They always leave a conflict behind to prevent cooperation and continue their unjust policies on an economical level.
The solution is to calm down and talk..
And be reminded the secret services of those colonialists are everywhere.
    Never despair, never give up..
    Keep talkıing
Every dispute can be solved when you have good intentions.
I sincerely hope that India-Pakistan problems can also be solved one day.

Türkiye has helped this EAC member, Somalia, in several ways to stabilize which helps it to fully integrate even further into the region. Ethiopia didn't want to be left behind in its integration. Türkiye is not like the west. They've proven this throughout their history and AGAIN proved they are not like Europe and America.

The so-called agreement is utterly meaningless for Ethiopia because Somaliland will never grant access unless Ethiopia recognizes its independence, and Somalia lacks any real control over Somaliland. This entire narrative about port access is a farce, a distraction orchestrated by Abiy to divert attention from Ethiopia's internal conflict and project relevance in the Horn of Africa. In reality, he has only raised alarm among neighboring countries, forcing them to consider what desperate moves Ethiopia might make to regain access to the sea.
The truth is, Ethiopia willingly gave up its strategic Red Sea coastline in Assab when the TPLF government allowed Eritrea to secede in 1991. How can a country relinquish such a vital asset and now lament its landlocked status? Ethiopia lost its access to the sea with Eritrea’s secession and also failed to reclaim Djibouti after a century-long deal with France. Global powers like the U.S., the Arab states, and the EU played their part in ensuring Ethiopia remained landlocked-a geopolitical failure that continues to haunt the nation.
Looking at a map, it’s clear how close Ethiopia is to the sea and how Eritrea’s borders were deliberately shaped to trap Ethiopia inland-a colonial strategy by Italy that still cripples the nation. Despite never being fully colonized like other African nations, Ethiopia bears an unbearable colonial legacy, worsened by poor leadership and anti-Ethiopian sentiment from its neighbors. The West, too, plays a role in keeping the Red Sea out of the hands of a stronger regional power, fearful of Ethiopia’s potential dominance over this crucial maritime route.
Ethiopia faces a monumental challenge in regaining access to the sea, whether by convincing the West to change their stance or finding alternative means. One thing is clear: it cannot continue in this landlocked limbo forever.
