If it's not banned by law, the minority that *does* wish to partake can, the majority that does not wish to partake can simply continue not doing so. Particularly when it simply serves to criminalize a minority population for disagreeing with the majority. Pure majority decisions stripping freedoms from minorities is entirely possible under a flat democratic system, but it has also been shown many times throughout history to be a source of oppression. Syria is poised to become the most prosperous and vibrant country in the Middle East. Syria is blessed with abundant fertile lands, water, great weather and kind people, but again, it all depends on how honest, moderate and genuine its new leaders are. If they are smart and intelligent they will adopt the path of moderation, one that will adopt democracy and freedom and allow the rights of minorities to live and worship freely without being persecuted or discriminated against. Same goes for the rights of women to be given equal opportunities. Syria is culturally rich and diverse, this is what makes the fabric of Syria's society so dynamic and vibrant. Now as confidence begins to build, though slowly but surely, many Syrian expats and refugees coming back home will bring with them their experiences and knowledge plus the capital they accrued and acquired in the Diaspora to benefit the rebuilding of Syria into a modern and progressive nation. Syria has the potential to become the leading banking hub in the region plus being the leading service industry, tourism, health and education center as well. It all depends on the path Syria takes, we all pray that Islamic radicalism and fundamentalism will not destroy the new Syria, the people of Syria have had more than enough of sufferings, pain, humiliation and wars, Syria's time is now, let the new Syria be what we're all praying, the shining star of the Middle East.

The guy asking about alcohol is a serious drunk.
It's appalling that a BBC interviewer chose to grill a military commander about alcohol permits, as if this were a top priority for Syrians. Meanwhile, millions struggle to access clean water and families search for loved ones in mass graves. For 54 years, the Assad regime has been perpetuating violence and suffering, yet Western media fixates on trivialities like alcohol consumption.

Why is alcohol such an important deal for the BBC? Syria is a Muslim country and alcohol is haram- we should be respecting their culture and customs. If you don't want to be told how to live your life, do the same.
Because this interview was for a western audience. AKA propaganda. This head chopper will continue to cause misery in Syria and the US will rape the country of it's natural resources. Same old, same old!
In the UK, there is discussion about banning cigarettes, even though alcohol significantly impacts health and society.
Alcohol probably more profitable? They're also banning adverts for porridge in the UK but happily advertise coca cola and other sugary "delights".

Your “culture” involves violating the rights of individuals, particularly their rights to bodily autonomy: i.e. to drink alcohol. One cannot “impose” culture in such a fashion. You are literally characterizing a generic increase in freedom as tyrannical. That's an Orwellian absurdity.

Why don't you put the full interview as it was in Arabic why you cut the part where he told the interviewer that Syria has bigger issues than these your presence is talking about 2:23 and he summed up the major issues after that the interviewer started: let's talk about the bigger issues.
You are making it look like your interviewer himself decided to talk about bigger issues while in fact al jolani manipulated him and showed him what he should ask about 😂 2:23
Millions have died, millions have been displaced, and millions are injured-yet in the first two minutes, women’s rights and alcohol became the focus of discussion for this great journalist. You are the greatest example of hypocrisy on this planet. It is their country, and they have the right to decide what is ethical and what is not.
out of all these miseries inflicted on Syria BBC is only concerned about whether be people be able to gulp alcohol. what a failure !!!
Harping on about alcohol which kills millions!! If Syrias leaders don't want it legal there, it's up to them! USA had prohibition. He sounds like an extremely intelligent man who freed his country.
Agreed isn’t the majority of the people in Syria Sunni Muslims so if you had a vote what do you think the people would want if he stayed he would allow alcohol isn’t that oppression.
@@aqeebshahbaz3306 Not banning alcohol doesn't magically demand people consume it. They are free, within their own group that holds that stance, to not consume it, whether it is illegal as a matter of politically stated law or not. They're not even required to peddle it to customers that might want it. If it's not banned by law, the minority that *does* wish to partake can, the majority that does not wish to partake can simply continue not doing so. There's no oppression in *not* taking away someone else's freedoms to suit the limitations you place on yourself within your own beliefs.
@@xxpoisonblxx your argument is flawed as if the majority of the people want it to banned and the leader don’t comply is that democracy and that morel.
@@aqeebshahbaz3306 Morality isn't a black and white topic, *because* of this sort of issue. It's entirely dependent on the framework you view morality through. From within the confines of religious belief, alcohol consumption might be immoral, but *imposing* the rules of those beliefs on those that don't share them is, by other measures, immoral. Particularly when it simply serves to criminalize a minority population for disagreeing with the majority. Pure majority decisions stripping freedoms from minorities is entirely possible under a flat democratic system, but it has also been shown many times throughout history to be a source of oppression. The typical term applied to it in western texts on the topic is "Tyranny of the majority".
They already lifted the $10 million reward for information leading to his arrest.
It saddens me to hear this as a person from Syria. At a time when we want any way to reach our relatives and friends who were buried in mass graves or who were unjustly executed in Assad's prisons. And until this day, the search is ongoing by any means for the missing and you are asking about drinking alcohol?? You are mocking our wounds.. As a person who drinks alcohol, from now on I will refrain from doing so after hearing the BBC and I will urge all my acquaintances and friends to refrain from drinking alcohol.
"Not obligated to prove to the world we work seriously" Yes. Yes you are if you're asking for sanctions to be lifted.
The value, culture and beliefs of Syrian people must be respected. The issue of alcohol at this point in time when people are dying of hunger is really a non issue. I really doubt the proficiency, skills and competency of this reporter. Prioritization is the key at this time. All Syrian people are in amid of jubilation on the downfall of their torturer . Instead of talking about what rebuild the hope of these people who already mentally damaged, you're talking about a trivial matter that doesn't help them at all . I want to tell to this reporter that you have conducted the most shoddy interview program that I have ever watched. The tremendous respect that I have for you is to tell you " GO BACK TO CLASS AND RETRAIN AGAIN"

Why did they mention drinking alcohol while a civil war has just finished is crazy to me 🤦🏼♂️🤣
Syria is poised to become the most prosperous and vibrant country in the Middle East.
God bless the Syrian people Syria will become a economical super power
Drinking alcohol isn’t a human right. I have no idea why it’s so important to these reporters.
Alcohol is a weapon for the Western governments. With Alcohol they can numb the brains of millions of people. How else can you justify the crimes of the West while their citizens are sleeping?
because they wish to ravage the Syrian woman.....the first step is to detach the hearts of Syrians from God through alcohol, drugs, and porn

Americans don't even care about their veterans at home
Americans don't even care about their people at home. They only care about the people when they win politically something from it
Murricans had no business in Iraq and they should seek justice from their politicians and leaders of that war
