    This was awesome! I was literally going to my DIY booth to spray some primer for about the 2nd time and remembered that I’ve never really sat down and learned the dialin process. Thanks for putting this together!

    PHENOMENAL video! About to spray my 1970 442. Been painting forklifts for 5 years but wanted the car to come out looking like a professional job. The horizontal run test was like a lightbulb coming on. Never thought to test it that way.

    Best video I've seen so far, thanks. I'm spraying acrylic in garage for the first time and I don't want to waste any of it. Definitely going to spray some thinners through gun to set up before putting basecoat down!!!

    Good advice. I set my pressure at the air compressor's outlet but didn't realise the gun itself may not be letting enough air through so I'll try opening it right up. The manuals for these aren't great, they tell you what the adjusters are for but not quite what they do like you have here, thank you.

    one thing I did for my airless was get an old plywood plank and started to staple those free brown paper and cardboard from packages to it
    then I can tear off the paper as I use it and I don't have to "store" the paper

    Great video. I've never heard about spraying the pattern horizontally to check that the volume is even. That's a great tip. I've had some trouble with tiger striping at times and I think this will be very helpful. I'm usually around 30 psi at gun with single stage acrylic enamel. Is that about right for that type of paint?

    Im still learning. I laid down some epoxy primer and it came out great. I laid down black urethane and it was textured! I probably need to mess with the knobs and also my spray tips.

    • @autopaintplusid4197
      @autopaintplusid4197  Год назад

      There are a few possible reasons it would do that. Incorrect air pressure, wrong size fluid tip, incorrect reduction ratio, etc. Check your air pressure, tip size, and your fluid adjustment knob. If it’s non of those, it’s most likely a reduction or application issue. Hope that helps!

    I have to agree with some of the comments, a short and to the point video great for beginners which I am too. Thank you. Did not think to pour some thinners into the gun and test the fan pattern before paint is used. A question though, will the fact that paint would be a bit more thicker than thinners will that drive the need to adjust the gun for paint or am I over complicating/thinking it? T

    • @autopaintplusid4197
      @autopaintplusid4197  Год назад +1

      We usually use thinner when we have a lot of adjusting to do, like a new gun out of the box or after disassembling the gun. You’ll need to do minor adjustments when you put your paint in the gun as well.

    Once set, won't the fan pattern for straight solvent (thin) be different than when thicker paint comes out?

    • @autopaintplusid4197
      @autopaintplusid4197  Год назад

      The fan pattern shouldn’t change, you may need to adjust your fluid a little bit though.

    How is the results when you spraying with the air green spray guns?

    • @autopaintplusid4197
      @autopaintplusid4197  9 месяцев назад +1

      For the price, they’re not too bad. If you’re looking for an inexpensive gun, the best replica gun we’ve sprayed so far is the Avalon WLS400. Unless you’ve used an Iwata LPH400 for a long time, you probably wouldn’t notice the difference between the performance of the Avalon and the Iwata.

I did order the x-2020 (85USD including shipping) Its an updated version of the SK-2020 you use in the video. • @russelllewis5852

      Gravity feed guns are great because of their efficiency and delivery. They require much less air pressure so less overspray

    What compressor are you using and does the gun cfm always have to match the compressor cfm or can you just get close to it? Thanks.

    • @autopaintplusid4197
      @autopaintplusid4197  2 года назад

      Your compressor should meet your guns minimum recommend cfm, if it doesn’t you won’t be able to keep consistent air pressure while spraying. We recommend a minimum of 9 cfm at 40 psi for the majority of hvlp guns.

      @@autopaintplusid4197 Even for hobby spraying like some small furniture where it doesn't need a constant flow just small coatings?

    • @autopaintplusid4197
      @autopaintplusid4197  2 года назад

      You can get away with a smaller compressor if you’re spraying small stuff. If you get a smaller gun, like a 1.0 touch up gun, you would have much better results while using a small compressor.
