- Writer and director Ti West walks tells us the stories behind his favorite shots from the trilogy he just wrapped up with MaXXXine. He shares how they used a Porsche on the set of Pearl, the difficulty in nailing the opening shot of X, how the mundane long take in The Innkeeper is different from the confrontational oner in The Sacrament and how the incredibly talented dog that starred opposite Ethan Hawke in In A Valley of Violence changed the way he feels about his own pet.

It's a bit disappointing that Cabin Fever 2 doesn't get any recognition. Ti did a wonderful job with that film.
I loved X and Pearl. If I end up loving MaXXXine, then I’ll gladly call the X movie trilogy one of the best horror trilogies out there. Ti West and A24 are both fantastic! ❤️

Dude it’s so crazy I watched his films growing up in middle school when he had a black Mohawk and now he’s got long grey hair getting his films distributed across the world. I’m twenty two now and I’m finishing my first feature. Fuck yeah Ti West he’s such a badass dude and it’s crazy to see time fly like this

For Pearl I cannot believe he didn’t pick the scene where she’s in the audition, and her perspective is she’s dancing in this big musical number.

for some reason I thought Ti West was some kind of rich miami playboy who just happened to direct horror movies. I think it's because his name sounds like a teenage rapper. Now I find out he's actually a genius film nerd and a really thoughtful, gentle spoken guy!

Big fan of your guys' stuff, can I make a suggestion? "Top 10 Friendly Fire Kills in Cinema". Things like the outfit swap in Crocodile Dundee 2 or "Nice Shotgun, Asshole" from Eraser. Because as great as it is seeing Good Guys take out Bad Guys, nothing's sweeter than tricking the Bad Guys into doing the dirty work for you! XP
I know everyone is losing their minds over Longlegs, but House of the Devil does the satanic horror story so much better, and yeah, I was one of those people that after watching, had to Google House of the Devi to see when it was made. ( it really had the same vibe as some other 70's classics, ( Devil's Rain, Burnt Offerings, Race With The Devil, Audrey Rose ) The Innkeepers is a master class of how to make an unsettling, tension filled film, on a small budget, by making sure the two main characters are extremely likable, and their conversations are engaging, which keeps the movie entertaining between the spooky scenes. Good stuff.
I hope he keeps making horror thrillers.

I knew X was filmed here from that opening shot coming out of the barn, but I don’t know why. Maybe some native trees tipped off my subconscious.
