jenna ortega's scream when she finds the body in the basement is just pure gold. it's already become iconic in its own right and is a defining image of the movie. that's the kind of scream that'll be remembered in slasher history for years.
I’m so glad the copyright issue with this kill count got resolved so quickly. Fridays are my favorite day of the week and Kill Counts are a large part of that
@@Daniel-nn8mr It was fast considering the original release was today and it got striked last night, Child’s Play 3 has been under review for a whole week
Executive producers don’t really do much, they normally just finance the movie or attach their name to a project to help out a friend and get eyeballs on it, Steven Spielberg does it a lot too but never actually does anything on the movies he executive produces
Brittany Snow and Kid Cudi totally won me over in this movie. They give their characters so much warmth and nuance and humanity. I want to see whole movie just about these two - one in which they get to live happily every after.
Fun fact! Right after Jenna Ortega filmed her kill, she had the Wednesday audition which she was bleeding from a cut from the fake gun! And she asked for more blood, which Tim burton liked! Edit: I just wanted to share- there are sooo many replies/arguments, lmao
I know the copyright claims have been hard on you James and all the of the Dead Meat team, but once again you all came together and made another amazing kill count! Hope you’re all okay!
I expected the heart attack to happen to the old man when he was having sex with his wife 😂💀 didn’t expect the other girl to gargle after gettin shot in the face
Dude, this movie is terrible what are you on about? Also the only deaths foreshadowed were the old couples, and maybe the bitch that gets eaten by the alligator.
Really hits differently when the slasher characters are not dicks for no reason but actually good people having their gentleness exploited for a gore end, brings a whole new layer of horror and paranoia.
Yeah, especially how they aren't really corrupted, occasionally getting annoyed at the old people and each other, and jenna's character going a bit crazy just before she dies, but nothing that bad
Lorain is not a good person lmao she cheats on her partner for no reason other than "uh uh well they do it!" when he is very clearly uncomfortable with the idea even if he didnt vocalize it
I love that in X the younger characters try to help the elders at first instead of immediately trying to hurt them or be cliche dickish teens like you would expect in a slasher.
@@AggressiveSpaghetti That's the point; so much modern horror paints the victims as assholes, so we don't feel bad for them when they die. Here, we feel badly for them, we feel their fear. It's also realistic as bad things happen to good people every day.
were gonna see her again in the kill count of SCREAM(also known as Scream 5) and Scream 6, which recently completed filming for a release on March 31st of next year and she was a Disney Channel star as well
I actually really liked Jackson’s death. Even though it was a single gunshot and was mostly off screen, it was layered with tragic symbolism and hidden meaning in so many ways. The swampy setting mirrors the rice paddies of Vietnam in many ways; it seems that Jackson escaped one jungle filled with farmers trying to shoot him only to die in another jungle, with another farmer shooting at him. There’s also this unsettling and simultaneous convergence of youth/age, Jackson and Howard’s shared military experience and the unspoken hierarchy connoted between them, and the parallel racial hierarchy between the two men, which has been hinted at during multiple different points of the film, with the pornographic racialized tropes that Jackson’s character represents in the eyes of the viewer, of RJ, and of Howard. In my opinion, while the least gory, it was most definitely the saddest, most symbolic, and most poignant death in the film.
That deathgasm killcount was a really good one and praised the film so much. And the fact you called out that it was the director who hit you with the strike not the studio, that's just icky. When a studio does it, it's annoying but expected and your mind goes to some greedy suits who don't know what they're doing. The director doing it feels worse because it feels more personal and really reflects poorly on the director. Like he's punishing you and Zoran for enjoying his movie and introducing it to millions who hadn't even heard of it. I had it on my watch list because of the kill count but ima take it off now.
I think you’ve really hit the nail on the head with the studio vs director thing. I hear “the studio hit us with a copyright strike” and instantly I think it’s just some bored, low-level flunky whose job it is to sit there and go “they used three frames of our property in a video, UNACCEPTABLE!” as they hit the ‘strike’ button. That, or that it’s not even a person doing it, it’s just an automatic response to keywords. Hearing a director has done it feels a lot more personal and spiteful. To see someone giving a mainly positive review of your work and still respond by snatching it away like a toddler is a really bad look.
@@adraino7345 What were the allegations again? I can't remember what they were since it's been a while since I watched the Deathgasm kill count before it was taken down.
Kid Kudi did SO GOOD IN THIS!! When you hear of a singer being featured in a horror movie you expect them to be used as bait. A one off character killed immediately. He was able to show his acting chops, and commitment to character. We got to know him and feel bad when he died bc he played it all so genuinely
I love the detail of Wayne saying specifically to Lorraine ‘you don’t want to give the old man a heart attack do you?’ Which is foreshadowing the old man’s death and specifically to the person who caused it. Didn’t even know there was so many little details like this until this video, I love yalls videos they’re incredible
Wasn’t the sequel basically shot back to back with this first film? It was shot in secret or something. I mean bold move doing that not knowing if this first film would be a hit.
10:38 I was not expecting her to be so soft spoken. It gave me chills. The difference between her and Maxine and Pearl just confirms how good of an actress she is.
The difference reminds me of, while not an official actor, Florence from Florence and the Machine. If you hear her talk in interviews, she sounds soft and mousy. Nervous even (she’s also British). But whenever she takes on her stage persona (a sort of acting) she becomes commanding, aggressive even. Not even the same person. That’s who Mia Goth reminds me of. Her soft voice and timid demeanor makes me appreciate her acting skills even more. Some actors play themselves so often or only play one kind of role. She’s a chameleon, and I hope to see more of her.
really really hope that Howard acting out that love making scene with Mia Goth as Pearl, was a spare actor who, like Mia, was also dressed as an elderly with prosthetics. I mean, can you imagine? A 27-28 year old woman, acting out a sex scene with an elderly man. I know these scenes are just acting. But it's still pretty disturbing and gross when a young woman has to play a sex scene with an 80-year-old guy. 😨😨😨
i actually love how the characters were likable and not just stereotypical douches. each character had every chance to be a dick, especially towards Howard and Pearl, but they were. all always so kind.
What you said about Pearl and Howard having sex and it having a hilarious/disgusted reaction from the audience was so true. They basically just demonstrated the point of the movie. X hit me different than most other slashers, it had a surprising amount of layers and small intricate details that I think just went over a lot of peoples heads. Pearl (the sequel) seems to be getting a more positive review from audiences thankfully though, I thought it was a million times better and deeper than X.
honestly to enjoy x you have to watch pearl first, that's what i did and it was so fun seeing little hints and parallels from each movie. x must've been such a mess to ppl that didn't see pearl now ik why the mixed reviews😭
Mia Goth is such a rare talent. It’s no wonder that Shia LaBeouf fell for her. I first saw Mia in the film “A Cure for Wellness” and was blown away at how talented she was in the film. It’s also nice to see Brittney Snow continue to choose roles that are each quite different from any others that she has previously done. It’s easy to be typecast and she has done a great job with avoiding that.
Literally didn’t realize it was her playing Pearl (the old woman). As an SFX artist, I will say that makeup deserves an award as well as Goth’s acting!
Well she did play in 2 scream movies so.... Also she played in the babysitter killer queen or babysitter 2 which is horror somewhat but somewhat funny at the same tim so she has played in a few horror films in the last 2-3 years.
You can always tell when there’s a good intimacy coordinator on set because the actors will be sure to mention it because of how rare it has been to be comfortable in those scenes until recent years
Rj's scene where he has to film his girlfriend is honestly far more brutal then the kills, you see him just break as a person which is something we can all relate to and it's so traumatic, and then he gets brutally murdered! Bro had a rough weekend
The fact that I've heard a few women support Loraine and go basically "Do what you want gurl, don't let your boyfriend control you!" *spits out tea* Excuse me?!?!? XD. Please never get married cuz I REALLY don't want these women to have children and just accept their husbands doing porn without caring for the consequences. Like obviously not the same situation, but at the same time, if you're not okay with your married husband w/kids doing porn out of the blue without talking it out with you -with other women- then why the heck you supporting this happening between couples?
It's a shame companies don't realize what this channel does for their movies. I would never have watched, or hell, even KNOWN about Deathgasm or X if not for the work the Dead Meat team puts in.
I’m so glad that you showed sympathy towards rj and used the word “traumatized” to describe his experience with filming Lorraine and Jackson. That was so cruel of Lorraine to put him in that position. I don’t mind her being in the film and I understand that her wanting to be in the film was spontaneous on her part but seriously? She humiliated and traumatized him, right in front of others as well. Watching rj sob in the shower was actually really sad for me.
@@swiggersyolo5748 What she did to him was clearly emasculating. I wish that RJ had told Lorraine that her doing the scene would hurt him instead of making the remarks he did, but she put him on the spot in front of all of their friends/coworkers. So he just responded in the way that he did because he was so embarrassed and shocked. She proceeded to actually do the scene which I'm pretty sure added to the humiliation that he had already endured.
I also didn't realize Mia Goth also played Pearl at first and was shocked when I saw the credits. I really hope her dual performances get some recognition when horror awards season rolls in. Also your take on RJ was interesting since I admit his last few scenes alive sort of bothered me. It kind of felt like to me that he really only saw the adult film industry as a stepping stone to his ambitions to make "true" cinema. But now knowing he's kind of meant to be a stand-in for the director and seeing his last few scenes again made me feel a little more sorry for him.
I think the problem with RJ in his final scenes were mostly in his verbiage. He’s perfectly warranted in being uncomfortable with his girlfriend doing porn and on top of that, being forced to film it. He was then brushed off by everyone including her, essentially being told to suck it up and deal, which isn’t exactly cool. The whole situation is pretty fucked up, but his response certainly pushed her further in that direction. So it could’ve been handled better for sure. Lol
@@OhGeeKevlar Oh yeah, I get it. Like I said, in a second viewing I realize the corner the poor guy was backed into. Lorraine should have talked to RJ first and in private instead of announcing it to everyone. Especially after how everyone else was talking about their openness with love and sex which put RJ on the spot and already painted his possible objection in a bad light (see also her throwing back his words of "What are you? A prude?") To quote a certain drill sergeant: "What we have here is a failure to communicate"
The level of care you mention given to each character is pretty impressive. Finding out the final girl is also playing the main killer as a literal mirror for herself is honestly mind-blowing! If it weren't for the fact that some of these kills are a bit too gory & nasty for me, I think I'd love this movie!
I’m genuinely surprised that James didn’t go more in depth when talking about that incredibly well-made scene with the Alligator and Maxine. The suspense and build-up was awesome, and felt pretty fresh in an age of relying on jumpscares to make the audience scared by these types of movies. Just thought James would’ve loved that a bit more!
I mean, it's sorta standard creature-feature stuff (I know this movie wasn't a creature feature, I'm just referring that particular bit). You see a decent sized body of water, and there's usually some shots involving whatever lurks in there stalking those who enter.
@M I don’t think it’s really fair to say that the praise is coming from people unfamiliar with horror. James and Chelsea, who both have extensive knowledge on the horror genre and whose whole job revolves around horror, openly stated that they loved this this movie and even the kills (especially the gator kill) in their podcast episode. Obviously, everyone is allowed to have whatever opinion they have on any subjective art, but I don’t think it’s fair criticism to attribute other peoples high praise for this movie to being new or unfamiliar with horror, that just sounds extremely condescending.
Despite all the brutal murders in this film, the scene that still haunted me the most was where Lorraine does a sex scene and her boyfriend films it, then is crying in the shower afterwards....messed up lol
it was weird to me. Im polyamorous and all my mono friends reacted like "yess, he deserves it" and i was honestly appaled, like he wasnt the best person but its literal torture to be forced to watch your partner having sex in that situation
@@maca76 I feel like he brought it on himself because he glorified the culture and was sort of a hypocrite for being upset when his girlfriend got inspired to participate in it, then again I feel bad for him because it was very uncharacteristic of her and gave him a shock, as proven by his reaction. He probably felt as though he never really knew her at all because of the sudden switch up and I can imagine that would be distressing.
It was so upsetting yo watch. It annoyed me so much how all these “practiced polygamy ADULTS” couldn’t tell how uncomfortable a younger mono guy than them was
@letsalllovelein I mean Lorraine didn't understand the consent part of the relationship and porn. She didn't respect it and he didn't explain it to her.
The ones that always bum me out is when they kill the 'terminally virginal guy' character. The guy who always strikes out with the chicks and then ends up dead. That's such a double whammy of dogshit lol.
For me it was Bobby's. Hers was so visceral and realistic and it really just did not sit with me well. Which I love, I love a horror movie that actually makes me feel horror, it was just not expected.
To be fair, they're all kind of cruel and fucked up. As much as you can understand the bitterness and upset of the oldies, it's hard to feel anything given they murder normal people for the crime of having the youth they no longer do. I can't vibe with that at all.
@@WalkerOfTheWastes yeah, I don't feel sorry for them all. Being old means they've had a full lifetime of experiences. To be "mad" at others for just starting out & denying them a future you had is beyond sick & twisted. Everyone knows they're going to get older (and eventually die) and it doesnt exactly happen quickly so not coming to terms with reality isn't anyone's problem but their own. And they were clearly horrible people most of their lives so we shouldn't give them a pass just because they're old now
Can't wait to see what Jenna Ortega does from here and 10 years in the future. Girl is an amazing actress and pretty sure she will achieve the Scream queen status quite early.

I think it was kinda interesting how Wayne stepping on the nail in the barn might have been for shadow early in the film. When Howard asked Wayne if he severed in the military, Wayne responded no, because he was flat footed. Flat footed is a condition wear a person’s entire foot touches the floor when standing, because they didn’t develop any arches in their feet. I might be pulling straws, but thought it was interesting to point out.
@@gaila.9852 They would serve because people with flat feet would experience extreme pain if they stand or walk to much. That’s not a good thing in the military, where they walk long distances without resting occasionally.
Lorraine was 100% in the wrong for dropping that bomb on RJ without discussing it with him first. He didn’t respond all that terrible for being blindsided like that.

My lil headcanon for why howard was so pissed off at wayne bringin more people was because he planned to use wayne to replace the corpse in the basement. And havin to dispose of everyone else was way more hassle than he was plannin for
Not gonna lie, when i realised how all the characters had their deaths foreshadowed, i was actually waiting for Maxxine to OD because Wayne said something about having too much of a good thing. But i was glad that she got away just fine
that was my reaction with all of them really. They were all just nice open people. THough I have to say it was refreshing to actually CARE about the survivor group for once after dozens and dozens of movies which depict them as selfish idiots.
I remember I started watching Jenna since stuck in the middle and I’m so happy she’s now balancing both genre’s happy and horror like she’s still doing films like yes day and horror films like scream, babysitter k!ller queen and now it’s not really horror but Wednesday
There's so much literary criticism you can do with this film. Reviews like this makes me MORE INTELLIGENT than yesterday and to cite this page as one of my resources is truly an honor!
I tried so hard not to get spoiled for this movie. Didn’t get all the hype at first, but James always knows how to make me better appreciate a horror film 😄
It happens everytime. I get 2-3 minutes into a Killcount on a movie I haven't seen and then I have to stop watching to go put the actual movie on. It's been a while since I've had one that I liked so much, the cast has SO MUCH FUCKING CHARISMA.
So, I'm from Texas, and actually the nail that Wayne stepped through makes sense, when i was growing up everybody I knew (including myself) had stepped on a nail at least once, especially if you were on a farm or at a ranch.
i love the numerous jenna ortega refrences. especially the fallout that you sneaked in on 14:03. i loved the experience in x. the visuals, the characters and their development, the actors and keeping their accents through their expressions without hiding a smile, the foreshadowing, and supence. i love it all. i never expected the movie to be up my charts this high for favorite horror movie...okay i did and couldn't hide my excitement for long. and i'm excited to see that ti west is making a prequel to the story. i can't wait till it comes out.

As someone who's been cheated on in a long-term relationship before, I know how hurtful it would feel to see your girlfriend in bed with another guy/girl. I totally understand RJ's character and how that would feel. I was honestly devastated for him and really sad when he died Edit: I wasn't trying to start a debate, and since some if you guys were dropped on your heads as infants, I guess I have to explain that I wasn't saying his girlfriend was a bad person. All I was saying was that I understand his pain Y'all are fucking ridiculous
That's the thing about this movie. Instead of all the characters being douches that deserve it except for the innocent final girl, the others are actually good people and the (not so) innocent girl is the only one who ends up getting comeuppance.
I think you two forgot that she wasn't originally supposed to be one of the actors. He brought her along to record, not join. He didn't have any reason to expect it, and she made the choice on her own.
That scene in pearl where Mia Goth is sitting at the table and talking. Is absolutely fkng superb acting. I know horror/slasher movies never win awards. But damn she absolutely deserves some attention for that scene

I loved this film. It felt like such a perfectly balanced slasher, good humor, good characters, great cinematography, interesting and subversive antagonists (their deaths are hilarious), carefully crafted slow burn with subtly sinister undertones. I do wish the kills were a little more creative though. I had a good time, unfortunate to see that a lot of people didn’t feel the same, even my friends who I went with walked out the theater halfway through 💀
I appreciate the little references and Easter eggs James makes when referring to the actors of the film's he's currently doing a kill count on. The Up, Up and Away reference to Cudi was well done!
I watched this film last night. There was one particular jump scare that was brilliant to me. When Lorraine is about to pull the chord of the light in the basement instead and then it switched immediately to Wayne getting pried off the pitchfork. I enjoyed this movie so much more than I expected.
"I love how sudden this kill is" Sudden is an understatement. Normally, with a sudden kill or jumpscare, i normally just jump myself. With this one, as soon as it happened, i said out loud "Holy Shit!"
It’s hilarious how Lorraine passes blame when we can see that her relationship was literally the thing that prevented their escape. Plus she picked the dude literally designed to die first.
The massive smile that greeted me when you talked about this movie being filmed in New Zealand, before getting even bigger when you called it "The land of the long white cloud" and correctly pronounced Whanganui! Idk why that made me so happy
This film does some great things. I like how they depict both the positives and negatives of living lives of promiscuity; on one hand the youthful sexy guests are having a blast while juxtaposed to the miserable old folks who only have each other and (at first) literally cannot partake even if they wanted to, which reminds us that youth is fleeting and to make the most of it. On the other hand, Loraine deciding to join the film counters by showing how intimacy void of commitment and modesty can damage other means of connection, and the momentary pleasures may not outweigh long-term affection from a significant other. I was a little disappointed by the dialogue following Loraine's decision though, for some reason and so frustratingly so, RJ neglected to mention to Loraine that they were in a monogamous relationship and he wouldn't be comfortable with her having sex with another man or being in an adult film (VERY reasonable feelings, especially in 1979 Texas and with the character who is most defined by her innocence). Instead of RJ saying he wasn't comfortable with an open relationship the way the other guys were, he chose to tell her she shouldn't do the video because she wouldn't fit into the PLOT?? Its a nitpick but I felt a little cheated out of true conflict of interest and one which fits perfectly into the movie thematically, with Loraine wanting what the film stars have and RJ preferring the monogamy that the old couple has, which might more satisfyingly lead the viewer to understand the truth may lie somewhere in the middle. It just didn't really make sense that she would be like "aww i hope I didn't hurt his feelings :( " like my sister in christ you just had intercourse with a male adult film star (with an absolute weapon at that) while your boyfriend was forced to film for the world to see despite him having pleaded that you don't, this decision of hers should have carried infinitely more weight. Maybe it just hurt to watch as a guy but I can't lie i was a little relieved that she didn't survive, it would have felt wrong with RJ having been molested and stabbed right after she hurt him as much as a person can be hurt within the extent of the law.
You were relived that she got her face blown off by a shotgun because her porno filming boyfriend never properly communicated that he wanted to be monogamous while also stating that porn is just a job and the actors are just working? Yeah, I would probably talk to a therapist about wanting to see a woman get murdered because she participated in porn that her boyfriend routinely films.
It’s really as simple as Loraine was a garbage character and deserved her death, RJ shouldnt have needed to explain something as simple as that he should’nt have needed to say” I want monogamy” that’s the bare minimum normality that is supposed to be expected if you ask me
Oh no, not just as a guy, it hurt me too. That shower scene was reminiscent of a post-rape shower scene, not that being cheated on is anywhere near as bad, but the dynamics felt similar. The fact that he couldn't bring himself to be honest, that such a drastic decision in his relationship was being made in front of a bunch of people with very different relationships and sex lives, and he tried to stop it but couldn't and had to just bear with it, only to cry alone in a shower with no one else having to feel anything. I actually disliked RJ not telling Lorraine that it was porn from the get go and how she found out, I wouldn't have felt safe if I was Lorraine (would've impacted me way worse than her) and might actually like some revenge, though might regret it later. But then it turned around and I was disturbed by RJ's predicament instead. I mean, why couldn't anyone in that room see that maybe this would hurt him because of his monogamous preference? I think they were all wrong, RJ with not telling Lorraine beforehand, then Lorraine and others for not seeing his pain and getting away guilt free. I wanted them to talk it all out and everyone take some accountability, but IDK, it is a movie, I guess that talking is up to viewers. What's more is IDK if I would've done any better had I been in these scenarios with people 😕
James, today my family lost someone very close to us. It’s not an easy time but thank you for giving me a half hour to zone out and think about something else. I like this movie a lot, probably my third favorite horror of the year behind nope and bodies bodies bodies
It’s important to remember RJ brought Lorraine in to help with a production without disclosing it was going to be porn until they were already in the van, which she clearly expressed in the beginning she was not comfortable with. He disregarded and taunted her for expressing her discomfort, calling her a prude. When she warmed up to and became enchanted by the genre while still being naive to the complexities behind it I think they ended up mirroring each other, each forcing the other into a sexual situation they weren’t prepared for or comfortable with. When he protested her impulse decision to work as an actor, she repeated his line back to him. They both disregarded their partners needs and showcased how informed consent is important for ALL parties involved with making an adult film. Neither were mature or educated enough to successfully work in that type of environment, especially together. RJ and Lorraine both made very hurtful decisions that would have likely ended their relationship after wrapping if they weren’t, you know, killed off lol
James, I appreciate everything you do in terms of entertaining us but I also appreciate your open mind and understanding of women's issues. Intimacy coordinators are indeed a positive in the film-making industry. Even if it does make Sean Bean sad because now it doesn't feel like he's actually scoring.

How does this have no replys man's out here giving us a lesson about symbolism and I loved every bit of it

Well yeah cus that's what it was
Even after what Zoran said about the director
That deathgasm killcount was a really good one and praised the film so much. And the fact you called out that it was the director who hit you with the strike not the studio, that's just icky. When a studio does it, it's annoying but expected and your mind goes to some greedy suits who don't know what they're doing. The director doing it feels worse because it feels more personal and really reflects poorly on the director. Like he's punishing you and Zoran for enjoying his movie and introducing it to millions who hadn't even heard of it. I had it on my watch list because of the kill count but ima take it off now.
Yeah, I was going to watch it too but the director's scumbag behaviour made me change my mind.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because James brought up the allegations. Which by the way this just makes him look way way worse.

10:38 I was not expecting her to be so soft spoken. It gave me chills. The difference between her and Maxine and Pearl just confirms how good of an actress she is.
That definitely caught me off guard too.

She humiliated and traumatized him, right in front of others as well. Watching rj sob in the shower was actually really sad for me.

curious, how did she humiliate him?
@@swiggersyolo5748 What she did to him was clearly emasculating.
Pearl from SpongeBob?
@@DMW111090 No, Pearl the old lady from this movie that this video is about.
Jenna Ortega is an incredible actress I'm so glad she's getting more roles in movies now
"Thanks for that, by the way. You made Zoran cry." The best line said by James.
RJ just saying “What?” after Lorraine says she wants a part in the film will never not be funny to me.
Poor guy
@@lauren9004 I felt bad for him.

Well they should’ve talk about in private but it was his fault that happen but definitely understand both sides of the coin
@@Matter-Darkhonestly, i didn’t. in fact, i got lowkey insecure, maybe even egotistical or incel vibes from him.
Comments like these are how James doesn’t get too many strikes. Well played.
on the topic of the characters being likeable i love how wayne talks when hes looking for rj. hes genuinely trying to give advice.
So, I'm from Texas, and actually the nail that Wayne stepped through makes sense, when i was growing up everybody I knew (including myself) had stepped on a nail at least once, especially if you were on a farm or at a ranch.
I stepped on a nail when I was breaking into a pool through a fence when I was little and I also live in Texas 😂
It's all small things like that which make me forget it was filmed in New Zealand 🇳🇿
How is no one talking about this amazingly placed Chop Suey joke at 11:53 😂😂😂

i love the numerous jenna ortega refrences. especially the fallout that you sneaked in on 14:03.
i loved the experience in x. the visuals, the characters and their development, the actors and keeping their accents through their expressions without hiding a smile, the foreshadowing, and supence. i love it all. i never expected the movie to be up my charts this high for favorite horror movie...okay i did and couldn't hide my excitement for long. and i'm excited to see that ti west is making a prequel to the story. i can't wait till it comes out.
Hey James,
I know you probably get a ton of messages like this all the time, but I just want to say thank you.
You are such a lovable guy and even though I’ve never met you you feel like a good friend. Love the content and your continued support for mental health. Your videos and humor helped me when I was feeling like the world was really dark!
You are doing amazing work! You are a treasure to us all!

Hey I also just want to say what you just did is great too. I’m glad these videos helped but still to have gone through dark times and still come out with anything positive is a WIN! Keep up the great work Richard! I am rooting for you! You are a rockstar in your own right!

Man I love it when James gives me a cool new movie to watch. The intro was compelling enough for me to go and stop the video and watch the film for myself. It was worth it!
I can't believe Twitter renamed itself after this movie.
I’ve never actually hear Mia’s normal real voice… she has such a small cute voice. It’s odd…
She reminds me of Marcel the Shell… but English. Hahaha
i thought the acting in x was amazing-- i'm so glad that you guys decided to cover it on the kill count because i love the extra information and background about the film that we don't know about
Brittany Snow steals every scene she is in, but this movie belongs to Mia Goth, she is one to definitely look out, can't wait to see her again in the "Pearl" prequel

As someone who's been cheated on in a long-term relationship before, I know how hurtful it would feel to see your girlfriend in bed with another guy/girl. I totally understand RJ's character and how that would feel. I was honestly devastated for him and really sad when he died
Edit: I wasn't trying to start a debate, and since some if you guys were dropped on your heads as infants, I guess I have to explain that I wasn't saying his girlfriend was a bad person. All I was saying was that I understand his pain
Y'all are fucking ridiculous
RJ deserved better, and Lorraine more or less got comeuppance for what she did.
That's the thing about this movie. Instead of all the characters being douches that deserve it except for the innocent final girl, the others are actually good people and the (not so) innocent girl is the only one who ends up getting comeuppance.
No it was RJ’s fault. He shouldn’t have brought her if he was so upset about something like this
That’s a joke right ? No RJ got what he deserves for being a cry baby
I think you two forgot that she wasn't originally supposed to be one of the actors. He brought her along to record, not join. He didn't have any reason to expect it, and she made the choice on her own.

Ah, this is why we love you James. That and the discount for weed gummies!
That scene in pearl where Mia Goth is sitting at the table and talking. Is absolutely fkng superb acting. I know horror/slasher movies never win awards. But damn she absolutely deserves some attention for that scene
It took my a while to realize that Mia Goth also plays Pearl. What a talent!
I really really hope that Howard acting out that love making scene with Mia Goth as Pearl, was a spare actor who, like Mia, was also dressed as an elderly with prosthetics. I mean, can you imagine? A 27-28 year old woman, acting out a sex scene with an elderly man. I know these scenes are just acting. But it's still pretty disturbing and gross when a young woman has to play a sex scene with an 80-year-old guy. 😨😨😨
You gotta respect this man and the work he's put into this channel. Really nice stuff James
I watched this film last night. There was one particular jump scare that was brilliant to me. When Lorraine is about to pull the chord of the light in the basement instead and then it switched immediately to Wayne getting pried off the pitchfork.
I enjoyed this movie so much more than I expected.
I’m glad your covering this movie! Mia Goth did great in this movie. Can’t wait to water her in the prequel Pearl
Water her?

"I love how sudden this kill is"
Sudden is an understatement.
Nothing beats a Friday Afternoon Kill Count! James is such an amazing presenter it's actually insane. All love ❤
Maybe it just hurt to watch as a guy but I can't lie i was a little relieved that she didn't survive, it would have felt wrong with RJ having been molested and stabbed right after she hurt him as much as a person can be hurt within the extent of the law.
i'd say she knew it would hurt him, it was obvious he didn't want her to cheat on him, especially right in front of him on camera.
What's more is IDK if I would've done any better had I been in these scenarios with people 😕
Well it is cheating and the wh word it's pretty nasty but I can't hurt people or tell them what to do
7:52 Directors need to learn that all publicity is good publicity. I would never know Deathgasm existed without that kill count.
X was a real blast, and I loved how sympathetic and relatable the characters were. I was very pleasantly surprised!
Also: congratulations, Zoran!
When Jenna Ortega said she wanted to do a scene, and the Director said what, and ad popped up. That was perfectly cut beauty at its finest 😌
James, today my family lost someone very close to us. It’s not an easy time but thank you for giving me a half hour to zone out and think about something else.
I like this movie a lot, probably my third favorite horror of the year behind nope and bodies bodies bodies
I'm so sorry for your loss I'm glad you can find peace in something you love have a great day
im very sorry for your loss x
