This is such a beautiful performance! Great sound quality too! It's a shame the director felt compelled to cut to a different camera literally every 3 seconds... as if the audience would go to sleep without cuts to different angles or near/far cuts to keep them awake. Such a shame. Ruined the video. And yes... just my 2 cents.
Hi Izzy, that is amazing you must be so talented!! My fiance' actually found it on a 'Best of' Like a version CD's. It is just so beautiful. It is the most perfect love song x
she did it a Lollapallooza 2007 but the AUDIO recording circumstances couldn't do the performance justice ..thank you for inviting her and sharing with us.
The song is amazing; Regina's amazing, and it pisses me off that anyone would have her use a garbage $99 Shure SM58 for her vocal. This is the fkn Ford Pinto of microphones.
I like to think the presenter and Regina have respect for the song. I saw her live once. She seemed so humble and appreciative. She was sick. It was obvious she wasn’t feeling very well. But she didn’t cancel. She held nothing back. She gave it everything she had. The music was everything.
@@nathyatta you make it sound like auto tune diminishes an artists talent. She's obviously capable of not having one, it's most likely a creative decision to use it. Stop looking for mistakes on people and enjoy them instead
Part of presenting is telling stories. I'm sure Triple J are very proud that they were able to make this song happen and to see what a success it has been. Also, it's common in Australia to take note of how difficult something is however I'm sure it was a throw away story and not what they took from the experience.
Anyone who can cover a John Lennon song and not only nail it but even improve it deserves some respect. Have to say though that the presenter sitting behind her in the middle of the stage was a little weird……
Such a beautiful cover, if only there was'nt a different angle shot every 5 seconds... pretty over stimulating. Just a couple perhaps. A one wide shot, to let performance be shown would have been cool
John wrote it during his time as a solo artist and an acoustic demo of it was first released on the soundtrack for the documentary Imagine: John Lennon. The remaining Beatles later completed a home recording of it, turning it into Beatles song, but originally it was released under John Lennon so calling it a John Lennon song and Beatles song are both correct.
Beautiful interpretation but I would have preferred to hear her singing in it alongside a gifted acoustic guitar player. Her vocals are heartfelt but Informal, the piano could have just been used in the chorus and at the end.
yeah i got your logic, she was doing a cover version of yellow submarine not real love. smh go ask someone to paint mona lisa in eastern style or other style, bet you will find a different mona lisa
Out of tune? Whispery? Were we listening to the same thing? Her voice is sweet and resonant and certainly in tune. I suppose you're used to hearing singers artificially perfected with autotune.
@@anna10116 it is out of tune. And no I don’t like auto tune. It’s like this odd style of singing that you throw in random notes. She does it on the piano too. John’s version is soooo much better.
sounds too kooky and disjointed for me - very early 70's baby boomer sound. But all i am saying is its not to my personal taste. Prefer Lennon's fragile demo version. Would love to hear a real genuine heartfelt version
As a 5 decade Beatle nut, sorry youngens, this does not cut it. What is she trying to do with it with the Phillip Glass like piano trying to be all ominous and serious over it? Very New York, but I’m glad Yoko passed the tape to Paul and not her in the first place. Obviously she is not a band. But I find this version lacking the thrill of the very Harrison guitar figures at the end of each line in the chorus, the whoozy thump of Ringo’s drums and the harmonies of the FRICKEN BEATLES in the chorus! As per usual, the Beatles have always known, and therefore always done, their songs best. And those saying these are best lyrics by Lennon? Are you joking????? Seriously! The guy wrote Across the Universe, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Imagine, Give Pearce a Chance, Instant Karma etc etc ETC: No comparison. Great song but not in the pantheon of his others.
Left me cold, then wondering how this rendition pays tribute to Lennon. She's a great piano player but her version doesn't stir me like John's crackling tape demo does.
Yes, Regina made some dubious chord changes for sure. For example at 1:58 Why is she trying to build tension in the middle of the verse? In the original version the tension is in the pre chorus and the release is in the chorus. Because those parts are already laid out in the song's structure. She goes from big tension to little tension to release. It's illogical and anticlimactic. She doesn't seem to know what she is doing. Is she really a songwriter?
I'm not particularly impressed by her voice, although she does play the piano beautifully... There have been far better performances on this channel. I don't see why the host played it up so much.
dreadful....it lacks the simplicity of the beatles version....she demanded an expensive piano and a quality sound engineer but forgot to ask for a vocal coach....
Says the vocal expert with the tremendous view count. Also she demanded none of this. This was Triple J being them typical selves parading that they have state of the art music equipment.
HahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahaha, that intro made it seem like that the sound engineering on this was going to be crisp. What is she singing - "a teal love" ?
Maybe because she's russian her Rs sound a little bit different
The word "its" comes before "real" so it kinda meshes into it-sreal-love
I’ll only play a cover if you give me expensive stuff so I sound better. Sounds about right
Funny how she requested all that and had 4 wrong notes XD and used 19 mics to anoyance on her own albums
