Thanks so much for doing this video!❤
Have you seen Kate's "Experiment IV"? It's basically a short horror film set during cold war. It still haunts me to this day. Also her "Wedding List" is basically Kill Bill.
She is a true artist and I love her weird videos.
Thank you for watching and yes I did watch Experiment IV. Definitely a good video and directing on Bush's part. Haven't seen "Wedding List" however so I'll check that out.
Great vid, thanks! Something Good by Utah Saints samples Cloudbusting and has clips of the vid in the video , good stuff
RIP #DonaldSutherland
This is a fantastic video! VH1 did play the Cloudbusting music video on the premiere episode of New Visions (their jazz/new age version of 120 Minutes) in March 1986. The music video for Running Up That Hill was also played on the December 27, 1986 episode of New Visions. I assume MTV execs thought it fit better on New Visions since a lot of art/avant rock and pop music videos were played on the show, from Peter Gabriel, Frank Zappa, and the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Keep up the great work!
Reading about Wilhelm Reich is equal parts interesting, hilarious and heartbreaking. Him and Kate Bush are a match made in heaven
Great video. I've read all about cloud busting and Orgone energy and when I saw your video's title I thought Kate Bush got heavy into the pseudoscience and ruined her music career trying to make it rain in the desert. That would have been a tragedy.
Cloudbusting is my favourite Kate Bush song, I have always loved and been curious about the video too so this will be a treat!
My favourite Kate Bush video is The Big Sky, that silver jumpsuit is incredible.
It's always a good time when it's once again Music Video Time
Yesss, one of my all time favorites!
3:17 Oh shit, it's me!
Dylan mentions him in his 1976 Desire song "Joey" "...He did 10 years in Attica reading Nietzsche and Wilhelm Reich..."
I have seen this played on VH1 classic a couple times. I thought it was an interesting video, but your presentation has made it more interesting. Thanks!
PS Could you possibly do a video about the Beatles ' Strawberry Fields and/or Penny Lane?
I will consider it. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching.
I'd love to see a video on The Beatles as well but man, I just know it would be a copyright nightmare
Thanks for this! I actually meant to check out the history of this song, as by the time i got to this point i bush’s discography i realised that most of her music has a rich context behind it!
Dude, you are young, thus forgiven, but us gen x codgers who loved music knew Kate was a genius.
Halloween is close. Do yourself a favor, turn all the lights off, headphones on and listen to entire side B of HOUNDS OF LIVE album.
Entitled The Ninth Wave.
It is the most frightening, and frustratingly beautiful piece of music to come from the 80's & and beyond.
Life changeing.
Fascinating video!
Honestly I even like this song a little more than Running Up That Hill!
By the way there’s a great mashup of CloudBusting & Katy Perry’s California Girls on RUclips
We knew at the time of song's release it was based on the Book of Dreams. And Sutherland had also read the book.
