10 Most Affordable Places to Live in Colorado 2021.
For people who look for the most affordable and beautiful states to live in, Colorado usually one of the top 10 candidates. With an average of 300 days of sun a year, residents and visitors alike love spending time in Colorado’s great outdoors. Colorful Colorado is also known as a favorite vacation destination - travelers love to come here for the stunning mountains and all the activities they provide, from skiing in the winter to hiking, camping and rafting in the summer.
With the legalization of marijuana in 2012 (one of the first states to do so), and a reasonable cost of living, there’s been a sharp increase of people moving to the Centennial State. Housing prices continue to rise (as of September 2020), especially along the Front Range, from Fort Collins, Denver, Castle Rock and into Colorado Springs. The popular ski mountain towns are also well above $400,000 in median housing prices - it’s not uncommon to see million-dollar homes in prestigious areas.
But given the outdoors benefits - the cost of living in Colorado is still one of the best values in the country. Here are the ten most affordable places to live in Colorado, taking into account the cost of living, median housing price, average crime rate and other factors which make a place unique.

What? Don't move to Aurora! I grew up in Aurora, there is alot of crime. Aurora poulation growth ruined the town which was nice back in the sixties and in the seventies the surge of people started everything down. Now, Brush might be a good affordable choice; I worked at the radio station (KKGZ) and lived in the house, the radio station was in, in aprxly 1990. The air in Brush is MUCH cleaner to breath than Aurora any day. There aren't many people in Brush but it's a healthy climate. Aurora is a bad environment. Colorado Springs has a high crime rate, as I had my backpack stolen with all my Christmas presents in it!! I might check out Firestone after watching this video. Tom Lippi Denver

@@Colkev2024 Well, what happened in Aurora, also was with three bases; Lowry Air Force Base, Fitzsimmons Army base, and Buckley Air National Guard base, is that East Colfax turned into a hooker strip with any kind of drug ya wanted in the seventies. It became a drunkards dream with motels and bars up and down Colfax and all around town. I lost friends from car wrecks and drugs when I was a teenager and now East Colfax is the center of jokes and is on the cartoon "South Park" it got so bad. Colfax is worse then ever; crime wise. If ya walk down the street, and are white, it's dangerous and will get called racial names. Most people carry a gun if going around west Aurora. You hear gunshots alot at night.

Okay, in 2020 we paid 397,000.00 for a house in south Aurora. Today's value is 540,000.00. So, you uploaded this video in 2021, already houses have appreciated by 50,000.00 or more. It is VERY difficult to find a house in this state for less than 400 thousand, that is worth living in. Yet this house valued at 540 thousand that I live in wouldn't have brought more than 250 thousand back in Texas. Houses are way overpriced here simply due to the location. And now with Biden's horrendous inflation, we would not recommend anyone move here unless you make a minimum of 120,000.00 per year for no more than 2 people. Not if you want any kind of quality of life.

Fascinating. I am form Australia and RV'd around greater Denver and Colorado in 2017. As a misc Stray Aussie in an RV for a few weeks, my take was, Southwest of Denver CO was habitable. I found CO Springs, and Pueblo to be amenable. I found myself in Pueblo for a night or two in my RV running from a storm. Pueblo struck me akin to my home town in regional coastal Australia. Big town with small city amenities, cheap affordable working class.
I thought to myself, i would like to live in Colorado Springs, which reminded me of an up market tourist town 1 hour drive from me. But i thought, Pueblo is more like home, where i'm from, a more industrious coastal regional Australian town. Something about people from Pueblo, i thought, these are my people, this place just works.
Seeing so many comments here on this video about Pueblo and CO Springs, yeah, i had it right. I live in a small Industrious town on the coast of Australia, 1 hour from the premier boutique holiday destination, not unlike Pueblo to CO Springs. But I love it here in my less preferable location, it's quiet. it doesn't go crazy with tourists in the peak period because it's ignored, house prices are great, it's got everything, and i can go out in an evening and everything isn't overworked. That's the dream to me.

This information IS NOT accurate. Native of Colorado 68 yrs….it’s extremely expensive Everywhere here. Aurora has an extreme crime rate and housing is outrageously expensive…including the ghetto areas. I’m trying to move out of here myself. Overcrowded and too much crime.

I have like 35 acres down south of walsenburg Colorado beautiful piece of property and actually got it for a pretty good price of $86,000 planning on building a house and pole barn there. I like the property tax there is only $10 a year even after I build the house it probably won't go over a 800 because it's a grazing area open range for cows

I bought like 35 acres just south of walsenburg and it's about 35 minutes north of Trinidad (Blackhawk ranch)it's just on the border of las animas and Huerfano County. The two counties actually share some of the services there like the health department is the same anyway it's a nice piece of property I really like it there it's up in the lower mountains along the front range planning on building a house and a pole barn.

Okeedokee. You show Garden of rhe Gods, between Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs, when talking about Fountain; and when telling about Aurora, you show an old photo of downtown Salida. (Fabulous Finds closed down quite a number of years ago. as did Pueblo Bank and Trust's downtown location-now where Natural Grocers, aka Vitamin Cottage took over their building.)
God know what other blazing blunders you've made in this video.

Was very glad to see that you included some places that are not part of the Front Range metroplex. There are literally 100s of little towns of the Eastern Plains that have very affordable housing. As with anywhere, if there are amenities and shopping nearby, housing is more expensive.

Most those places are up on the far north eastern side of the state. It's disgusting there and is no where near the mountains. You might as well live in Nebraska.
