Good video. I'm 65 and solvent, and an Air GT owner for over a year. I'm a gear-head car guy from way back with many track-day laps and long trips just to drive famous roads. Yes, a Tesla Plaid could outpace me on a drag strip, but I've never been on one. The joy of my Lucid is that I don't leave home thinking about charging. It has enough range. Between cities it charges rapidly, but that is rarely needed. It just works and my wife loves the comfy ride. But...
When I get out on the right road (TX Hill Country, Arkansas Ozarks, Colorado canyons) I can push this car beyond the point that would make most people vomit in their lap. The acceleration is brutal. Steering is precise if a bit over-boosted and numb. The feel at the limit in a turn is unmatched by any car even close to its weight class. I am in awe that there are *Three* versions of this car quicker than mine.

Tesla was on NACS evergreen.. lucid should have designed their car with NACS instead of CCS or J17C. Pay tesla money so that you can access their charging network.

Tesla chargers are the legacy 400V. Lucid, Hyundai, KIA, Porsche, Audi, Rimac, etc. use 800V+ charging (CCS standard is 920V). High voltage cars can up-convert voltage from 400V but it is slow and inefficient. Tesla needs to upgrade it's chargers (and its cars) to stay relevant in the long term.

Lucid is a premium luxury brand with massive expenses and little focus on mass production efficiency. It’s a boutique cash cow.. Apple should have bought Tesla when they had the offer in 2018.. they apparently considered working in partnership with Hyundai before they folded on the iCar project.

My friend bought a Lucid Air Grand Touring. Freaking amazing car honestly. I loved the passenger massages too. And it had 505mi range. That was jaw dropping. Sadly charging was a mess honestly. No one can compete with Tesla here. And so spacious and the build and finish is incredible. The software is a tad underwhelming as is its responsiveness and look and feel. Acceleration is good but not quite Tesla level. The ride is super comfortable and you don't get the camel feeling like in a Tesla.
Overall the vehicle is elite and truly incredible. But it also is $150k. Unless they make $60k models or lesser they will likely disappear in a decade. They have to compete with Tesla in the $50k to $60k now and then make profit. They can even reside in $70k range but higher you go fewer are the buyers

I have the same vehicle, but in Quantum Grey. Love it. No issues with charging because I charge all the time at home overnight. With 80% charge I get over 300 miles which is more than enough. The 5 times I did have to charge it at public chargers I never had any issues. I'm in PA and there are fewer EV's on the road, so that may explain it. Regarding the shelves in the trunk and frunk, just take them out and leave them at home. You'll have much more room, use both more frequently without any hassles. I often keep a compact 2000 psi pressure washer in the frunk so I can wash the car easily. The front gets buggy....literally.

Check out our podcast if you'd like to hear more! But generally speaking the rant inside the video about charging is pretty representative of what the experience is like. Difficult to find a charger, finicky at best regarding whether or not the charging will start automatically, and charging speeds are never the advertised maximums. Basically, charge at home if you can, and if not, just be prepared to be patient when charging in public.

Your charging issues must be a California thing. I have never once had a charging issue at EA. Each and everytime it works. Now as for Max Charging. You have to realize that even if you get max charging of 350KW, it is only going to stay there for a couple of minutes at best, and start coming down from there throughout the entire charging cycle. The best I have ever seen is 325KW for about 30 seconds and then it started coming down and that was with a full conditioning cycle. The charging unit Lucid provides with the car is custom tuned for the car. Using the 240V plug, I consistantly get 37 mile per hour on my Air GT, however if I plug in my Chevy Bolt it only gets 11 mile per hour whereas my normal charging station will get 26 mile per hour on the Bolt. However, my normal 240V charger will only produce 20 mile per hour on the Lucid.
Your assessment of the demographic of who should buy this car is SPOT on with my thinking. This is a top of the line luxury car, that is meant for a night out on the town or a nice comfortable drive in the country. If you have kids get the mini-van of EV's a Model 3 or Y. They don't standout and blend in with all the other me too people who have to have one and treat it like it is a Toyota.
    Good Luck and Enjoy!

What does the guy who owns the Lucid Touring do? He had a Fit which is a car so lame I wouldn't have taken when I was young and poor, I'd just keep walking/using public transit till I could afford better. Then he goes to a 125k (plus tax) car. We always see these youngish people with Telsa Plaid and Lucids and S580 Mercs etc what did they do to make the money? Thats the interesting part.
