- A few episodes ago, I had the pleasure of meeting John with his "Real world (car) problems". If you remember, he had traded in his 2019 Model X that crossed 100,000 miles, purchased a used 2022 Mercedes EQS and reserved a 2022 Lucid Grand Touring. Well the Grand Touring has arrived and as of this recording, he still has the Mercedes. Find out what he is thinking and the comparisons of both cars. Will he sell the EQS or the Lucid?

That is literally the exact spec Lucid I've been dreaming of. Absolutely beautiful car!! I understand the Lucid CEO spent a number of years working as the lead design engineer for Lotus, so I think that's why the suspension is the way it is. With that much power, they want you to be able to throw it into corners without losing it, and they want you to be able to feel where the wheels are when you're pushing it. But I totally understand that it's not as floaty as the Mercedes. Tesla definitely beats Lucid on tech at the moment, but Lucid is coming. The OTA updates are gonna get there and then that's gonna be a non-issue. And I think, personally, Lucid beats Tesla in quality of materials, luxury of design (interior and exterior), and overall build quality. If I had the money, there's no question, I'd absolutely get the Lucid. Just like the on in this video.

I enjoyed the video. I have an Air GT in that mysterious Zenith Red, but with 21s. For me the best part of the car is the lively handling. I know that isn't for everybody and the EQS is definitely more plush.
The highway assist should be working on the car in this video. It has the right update (can tell by the screen). Give the cruise control button on the left of the steering wheel a long push to turn it on. It only works on freeways, not city streets, but it works really well.

I just saw a Lucid Air, exactly the same color as the one in the video, here in Northern Arizona, a week or so ago, at an EA charger and it was STUNNING! They're way better looking in person. Every other car in the Walmart parking lot looked so old and goofy compared to the Lucid. I want one!

However, I almost did not watch your video because your channel name is in the title and I wasn’t sure I wanted to watch a video that was saying don’t waste your time concerning Lucid, knowing that it’s a great vehicle. You might consider putting the word channel after your channel name if you use it in the title to eliminate confusion. Keep up good work!

Speaking of being slow.... I thought EV's were all about saving the planet? How is building extremely powerful , extremely heavy EV's , with huge batteries, that consume huge amounts of electricity to manufacture and charge, saving the planet?
@bdd1469 that's the beauty of electric power. It's no emissions gas guzzling tax and in efforts to quote "Save" or fossil fuels. But the computer can be tuned for good mileage and still have decent power. Electric motors deliver power and torque a little differently than an internal combustion engine.

@@bdd1469 you do realize that the cars can be charged at home right? And if you have solar panels…. Electricity can be made from other sustainable methods. Not just coal and natural gas. I have a solar set up and charge 100% from home.

I enjoyed the interview that you had with John; we are also the proud owners of a Tesla and Lucid. FYI Dream drive rolled out but not is good as Tesla autopilot. John also eluded that Lucid has everything it needs to do upgrades for the life of the car bringing the car to autonomous driving. FYI, in the fine print in the buyers agreement, it states that they will continue to upgrade the vehicle unless the vehicle cannot support the new upgrade; we would have to pay for equipment upgrade and only if it is available. So like early buyers of Tesla, we may get left on the sidelines while future vehicles enjoy new capabilities that we can’t. Just a note.

I test drivin the Lucid air from the Short Hills Mall showroom in Jersey, and I have to say, that car is "amazing", style and comfort, especially sitting in the rear with massive leg room and I am 6'1" tall.

Get your lucid wrapped! They are notorious for thin paint and any scratch will be very difficult to repair.

Why they don’t do anything for the environment. One commercial air flight makes more co2 than 150 cars do in a year. Internal combustion motors aren’t the problem. One cargo ship from Asia to the US makes more co2 than 100,000 cars in a year. AND since the idiot in the white house went to war on oil Asia Africa China India Eastern Europe and Russia are building as many coal plants as they can. And where do you think the electricity comes from to charge your car comes from? Either natural gas or coal.
The US could go to Zero emissions and it would make one tenth of one percent in co2 for the whole planet. Even John ( I only fly private jet ) Kerry said that. It’s a SCAM. So EVs don’t do ANYTHING except give you range anxiety.

Let's just say for now he has 36 chargers in the area but with my CCS to Tesla adapter I too have those same 36 chargers. See what I did there. AND...at the moment I still have exclusive access to the best charging network in the world..because even when you add all of those charging stations up, they're not as reliable as the Tesla SC network.
But for him it doesn't matter as much since his Lucid is the best long distance driver on the road with the Model X, Model S, Model Y LR and Model 3 LR coming in behind the Lucid. What I'm really rooting for is that Lucid remains in business, ramps up production and keeps putting these cars out there. I may be a Tesla fan but as a network administrator and all around tech guy, I really a fan of EVs and love seeing something else other than a Tesla on the road. I saw a Genesis GV60 pull up next to me the other day I was quite impressed with its styling.

Hy from Romania Europe i just want to say Thank you for this great Interview , in my Opinion i like Lucid is soo Smart engeniering built , Mercedes EQS it have a luxury interior but we must admit EQS front is like a Honda and Tesla im sincerly complaining abaut the Low Quality construction , i sincerly wish to have the money to buy Lucid but is soo expensive.

Obviously the owner is a fan of electric cars). In Ukraine, no one has heard of Lucid and Fisker cars either, but we have a lot of Teslas and German electric cars.

What a well done video.. I enjoyed every second of it - very nice back and forth conversation. The one item not seemingly covered was service/support. Does Lucid have a mobile tech and service center infrastructure? What happens when something goes wrong with the car? Where does it get towed to? Even though I love my Model S P100D - your video has me giving Lucid a close look! :)

If I recall recent industrial history, Nissan started the mass production at scale of modern EVs with the Leaf. There were some others too, but they were small time. Tesla didn't really start big scale till the 3 a few years ago. Most of the S and Roadsters were cluster built.

this is so helpful !!!!! I have a 2014 Model S with 130k on it. It's perfect, no issues at all... only issue is I want to try something different. Trade in value is only 11k. Dam!!!! That's crazy! Having said that you can get a used EQS in the high 50s, also insane. I have to watch my coin so will probably perseverate for a few months before I get the Mercedes :) or maybe I should just keep the "T". I am grandfathered in for free charging for life with Tesla... Battery will still hold about 220 miles of range.
@xeniavader - As an owner of a 2015 MS, I know how you feel.In my vehicle I have placed 28 aftermarket items in the car, I will not sale it. Supercharging is free, but on certain days I would love for it to be faster. (Still you can't beat free) My wife is considering getting the MY - in which I can live vicariously through the Y. Thank you for the review. Sadly Lucid is not selling in my country, but I drove a couple of other high end electric sedans, like e-Tron, Taycan, Model S, Model 3 and I do own an EQS 580. My personal ranking is: EQS > EQE > Lucid > Taycan > eTron > Model S Plaid > Model 3. Lucid opinion is sadly only based on reviews...

Not an EV fan at all but stopped by as I always thought that the Lucid with it’s range might be the car to change my mind. Being in the wide open southwest, range ( and recharge times) are paramount. I think I will let the urban travelers stay tied to their umbilical cord while I stay tied to my ICE. Kudos on a well delivered video!
cymanca - I understand your view. When I was in the military I was stationed at Ft Lewis, Washington in late 1999. I received orders to the east coast. I decided to drive across county. When I was driving my gas car through Wyoming - I had gas anxiety!!! Thanks for your comment. Although you are not an EV fan, check out my channel.
I'm not a fanboy, and i'm not trying to convince you to shift to EV. Just wondering what your commutes / driving habits look like. Do you often have to drive across the state? Most modern EVs will charge 20-80% in 15 minutes. So you can get 200 miles in that time in many current vehicles. Yeah, that means you can really only drive for 2.5 - 3 hours at a time, but for most folks that's a reasonable span to then get out and stretch your legs for a bit. Don't get me wrong, when i was college age in the 90s i would have been seriously irritated to stop that long on a cross country trip! But these days i only take longer trips a couple times a year, and the little breaks have become a welcome part of it.
For me, an EV was a no brainer, as i have some of the cheapest power in the US and can charge at home 90% of the time. It costs me $8 to fully charge my vehicle at home, and approximately $40 for the gas to go the same distance in my other vehicle. Gas is back to reasonable prices these days, but in early 2022 the differences were even bigger.
@@justavian - I was the guy who interviewed John/Lucid owner. I cannot address all of your questions other than John lives and works in Northern Virginia. Just like any other major city, it takes one accident to back up traffic. In the video, my EV was parked on the road (2015 Model S Tesla titianum color). I also have the Nikola Tesla hoodliner in my frunk. That is depicted at the beginning of the episode in which the video is black/dark green with a lightning strike that shows my hoodliner.
