As a Brady fan, I always rooted against Peyton while he was playing, but now that he's retired, I miss watching him play. He was a true genius and magician at quarterback
There’s really nothing like the Peyton vs Brady duels. For 15 years, they’d almost always get matched up and it was always an incredibly important game for playoff seeding. And the games themselves were often classics. You got the early playoff beat downs by the Patriots, the goal line stand in 04, the colts comeback in the AFCCG, the Patriots comeback to keep their perfect season alive, the 4th and 2 game, the pats comeback from down 24-0, and finally the 2015 AFCCG that came down to a 2pc. So many amazing games
tom brady and manning is the greatest sports rivalry of all time
@@Braylenc123 It's certainly in the top 5 but greatest? Well, you also had these in no particular order...
1. Mckenroe vs Borg
2. Magic Johnson vs Larry Bird
3. Ali vs Frazier
4. Holmes vs Moriarty
@@TSWest left out duke vs Carolina, they literally played that game all over the world during the 80’ and 90’s, and even to this day it’s one of the highest viewed sporting events in the world.
Same only the opposite. I am a huge Colts fan and Peyton Manning fan.
The Lions exist to be an easy turkey meal damn near every Thanksgiving
And they were yet again when the Texans ate them alive

It's getting to the point where I just feel sorry for Detroit. It used to be funny, but now it's just sad.
@@DopeIsotope I am lions fan I am just sad Barry retired early and Calvin Johnson if the management did not make them leave I think both of them would have better and more legendary careers
5x MVP & 7x *FIRST* Team All-Pro, he was just ridiculous in his prime. If he had a proper O-Coordinator other than himself and allocated some offense in exchange for defense his stats might’ve been down but his championships would be way up.
People don’t realize Manning went to his 4 Super Bowls with 4 different Head Coaches and Offensive Coordinators. Manning was the play caller and coach of the offense.
You do wonder, but also have to point out that his defense often did play well enough to win. They forced the turnover against the Steelers to give them a last chance, held the patriots to 20 and 17!in those playoff losses despite the colts offense having something like 8 turnovers in both games
@@jrad410 those were the only times his defense played well enough. Ok the Steelers game vanderjack chocked horrificly in the clutch. Then in the other time Peyton made the playoffs with the colts his defense was busy giving up game losing drives to the likes of billy volick and mark sanchez.
@@justyouraveragetrashcan5384 right but even in that’s loss to the jets the colts only scored one touchdown. The defense gave it up at the end, but it’s not like they got torched in the game. Yea 07 Chargers loss was just awful by the defense, but the majority of Peyton’s playoff losses with the colts, the opposing team averaged around 20 points scored often with turnovers to help.
@@jrad410 they scored one touchdown but in the entire second half they only had 3 possessions and scored on all three the defense let them down in that game too
Now that the helmet rule is changing back I'm looking forward to seeing more throwbacks on Thanksgiving. It been nice that the lions brought their's back, now the cowboys and many other teams can do the same
What helmet rule?
@@Ambivalence18 ok so starting in 2013 players had to wear the same helmet shell all season. The idea was that it would be safer because it would mold to your head better but after 8 years it doesn't seem to make a difference when it comes to head injuries. So they are getting rid of the rule.
This effected throwbacks because before this rule players could own multiple helmets of different colors for whatever uniform they wore. Examples included the Patriots having the default sliver and pat patriot white. The Buccaneers with the default putter and the white for the creamsicle throwback. Or the Cowboys with the sliver default and the white Thanksgiving throwbacks.
You haven't seen any of these throwbacks since 2012 because teams were limited to only one helmet. Now teams are allowed to change logos and facemasks on the shell, so you still saw teams like the Bears and Giants wear throwbacks, because it's still the same base helmet. This is also why Denver's throwback had the navy blue helmet instead of the more traditional shade of blue, because they had to use their default helmet shell.
@@roshango125ab ahhh ok. Kinda a dumb rule throwback uniforms like the creamsicles and Denver’s old blue and orange before 1997
@@Ambivalence18 That's exactly true
@@tyreepowell8367 yea I like the pre 2002 Seahawks and pre 2000 Rams
Both teams looking good in their throwbacks!

The 2004 Colts are one of the greatest offenses ever, as they led the league with over 520 points scored. That season was his breakout year as he showed that he would eventually be a HOF QB- 1st time passing for over 40 TDs, having a passer rating over 100, and the first time that his team has scored over 500 points in a single season!

Joey Harrington was a stud at Oregon! one of the best

Peyton Manning with Brady's defenses wins 10 rings
The colts of the early 2000s remind me of the 90s Atlanta braves where they won a ring but had some unexplainable early playoff exits
Not to mention coach. Polian also was too stubborn to change his approach when the whole “small fast players bend don’t break” thing was costing the Colts on the playoffs.
How many times did teams run over the Colts D to control the clock? The best way to stop Manning was to keep him off the field.
@@Vichedges I stg growing up in Indy, it was almost every week there was an opposing RB having a huge day on the ground against them. The run D was abysmal for the longest time, and it didn't help that they had to play Arian Foster, MJD, and CJ2K 6 times a year
When I watched this game, I remember thinking he’s bound to have a field day throwing the football. It turns out I didn’t lie
I actually think 2004 was Peyton’s best season.
2013 by far was his best season and he put up those 2013 numbers at an older age
@@nengehtardzer2839 those numbers in 2004 are more impressive than 2013 based on how the game was back then

There are only a few players, that you feel privileged to watch. These players are not generational players, they are even more rarer than that. Their performances are legendary, and their moments leave you breathless and send chills down your spine. Their greatness stands out and separates them even amongst fellow HOF'S. They are the reason we love this game so much, they are the GOAT'S. And Peyton Manning is on of them. Go Hawks
This was Manning's best season hands down. Highest DVOA in his career I believe. What a machine he was that year.
2013?
2006 and 2013 are in consideration.
As a colts fan I watched every snap Manning took for 13 seasons. I honestly think 2009 was his best year. His footwork, throws, and timing were off the charts that season. Had we won the super bowl everyone would know that as his best season ever.
@@theaveragesimmer4780 I kind of agree, but there is 1 game and 1 throw that really sour that season for me. The game vs the Broncos that year was easily the worst game I've ever seen Peyton play in a Colts uniform (started watching in '05). It was the first time I had the realization that Peyton was human lol. Also, the pick 6 to Tracy Porter is probably the worst throw of his career. I'm probably putting too much weight into those 2 things tbh

Giant manning fan here. Watching these old games just reminds me of how many rings peyton could have had if his defense ever played in sync with him back then. Man there are hof names all over that field! Thanks for the memories
I love Manning but yall love trying to rewrite history.. Manning played poorly in nearly every playoff loss. I will give him a pass for 2000 because if your defense gets gashed for 200 rushing yards 98% of the time, youre gonna lose.
@@aaronjackson9385 yeah he had some rough games thats for sure. I was just remembering that his defense didn't help much then. A lot of qbs had bad games but got bailed out by theit defense alot.

Its been a minute but I remember the chargers playoff game in indy when rivers got hurt. The defense let the backup qb take them to ot and then lose. Its been a long time but I remember just being disappointed alot....mostly with all the ints peyton threw in big playoff games! Also, the big td that the d gave up against flacco when he was in denver. Peyton walked off the field with the lead and they needed a stop to advance. Just stuff like that. I know every playoff team can say that. This video just reminded me of all the disappointing years and the coulda woulda thats all
Can y’all make one of those highlight videos for rod woodson? One of the best DBs of all time but I never see any good highlight videos of him.

That's why Joey Harrington is considered a big bust in the NFL. Any good QB would hit that pass 9/10 times
Would love to see you try.
Thanksgiving: a wonderful holiday, especially for those who get to play the Detroilet Lions.
Peyton Manning is UNDEFEATED against the Detroit Lions in his career.
I like these minimalist Lions' uniforms.
It's no surprise why Jason Hanson is Detroit's all-time points leader. That team just couldn't close it out in the redzone.
Also, I feel like a lot of people sleep on The Edge these days that never got to watch him when he played. Dude was a tremendous back in Indy.
I remember this game. Mostly because this was the second to last fantasy football game of the regular season and I was behind by 79 fantasy points in a non-PPR league back in the day. My friend who had the 79-point lead for regular season points total and what would be my playoff spot, thought he would trash-mouth me saying I had no chance.
That week I started Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Brandon Stokely, TJ Houshmandzadeh, and W. McGahee and obliterated my friend with 190 fantasy pts. The reaction from the rest of the league participants was priceless. My friend unfortunately quit the league at the end of the year.
Man I miss Brady vs Manning. Everytime they played against each other it was always intense. Probably some of the best games I've ever seen.

Man that Colts team was crazy.
I think this was the first time that I didn't root for the Detroit Lions in a Thanksgiving game, since I have always been a huge Peyton Manning fan, back to his days at Tennessee. Most of the time that was the only day of the year that I was a Lions fan.
This was the first game I went to and have been a Colts fan for 54 years, back when they were in Baltimore #19 Unitas. We had 3rd row endzone seats and my favorite player was Marvin Harrison. I've been to a few more games since, but this is the game I will always remember. So many great players in this game on both teams.

When I think about that thanksgiving game. It’s a shame that lions lose a lot. But as a lions fan, I did like Peyton Manning’s thanksgiving game in 2004
i was at this game as a Lions fan. at least the tickets were free.
The one time the Lions' Thanksgiving tradition was worth watching.
I attended this game and was so pissed with all those Joey Harrington 3 yard passes.
This is why the only acceptable response is laughter when anybody says Brady is the GOAT.
And the 1st half of this game shows why Peyton only had 1 ring in Indy; Defense cant tackle a no name running back on a crap team to save their life.
Next vid can it be hall of fame games like bills vs Titans
Said a prayer for the Lions before this game because I knew it would be a massacre.
manning play action was textbook
Peyton manning is still a goat
No he not, because achieving 5 MVP doesn't make him the G.O.A.T. he atleast the All time Great, don't give me wrong it just he need to win more then 2 Super Bowls like Win 6 then it will be a proof that he is one.

Colts without Manning went 2-14 in 2011
Pats without Brady during Brady’s era were 14-6.
The Pats won 11 games with that stiff Cassel who hadn’t started a game since HS.
I mean Brady is great but the Pats were just a dominant team, all the way around.
Brady also knew when to get out of town, Pats in 2019 were trending down, “one and done”.
