I shot with this around 2014. The image quality in good light was everything!! Unfortunately I threw it away when I started filming. Later I bought back a second-hand Canon G1X, but strangely enough it was not quite the quality as the first model, but still very good. I film with the GH5II but still take photos with the G1X.

In the past, Fuji used to make terrific little point and shoots. I have a Fuji XF1 and love it. Doesn’t meet your criteria, so prob not for you. I like both the photos and videos it makes. It works for me. But my point is, I think there are many people, like you, like me, lwho prefer using a camera to a phone, and would be happy to carry a small, sophisticated, jewel of a point and shoot in addition to a phone if someone would (are you listening Fuji??) would just make one.

I have this camera. Update from old Lumix LX2 and I still keep G1X just because I don't see any competition for it. Only the menu could be better. I love this Canon.
Don't get rid of the G1X. There is nothing else out there like it as far as I'm concerned........ My favourite thing about it is the clear direct optical viewfinder. The 16x digital zoom works very well. I love the Canon colours for scenic photography. I love the heft and ergonomics of the camera. The sensor size and optics are just right for my tastes. The G1X is reliable and perfect for my scenic photography. Yes, I have another camera that I use for everything else which is the Olympus EM-10 Mark II. It's perfect for everything else.
I am literally doing exactly what you are trying to do in this video right now. My main camera that I enjoy for my style of photography is a GFX 50R and I am currently trying to find a bridge camera to bring around for small occasions that's capable enough to capture small moments when I dont have my big boy (my GFX is running adapted full frame lenses to keep the cost and size down as much as possible). I love the manual focus and how involved I feel in taking pictures with that brute of a camera but It's just not the best solution for everything, especially with how big and cumbersome it is.
@@WoodenAxle My own journey has taken me to much smaller systems for the more flexible zoom range and built in flash & stabilization, currently have a Lumix LX100 II that I haven't had much time to shoot yet and am going to test out a Nikon P7100 (CCD sensor) and a Fuji X20 very soon. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on older fuji APC!
I bought one brand new back in 2013 and used it extensively for bodybuilding shows. I didn’t even realise it had an nd filter till I saw your video. I had multiple photos from it get published in national magazines, newspapers and tv. But it was a terrible video camera, only shoots in auto mode. I eventually had to downgrade to a Canon G3X to get a hybrid camera. The G3X lasted a few years until the iPhone 12 Pro Max took over for good enough photos published quickly to social media. The G3X is only used at events where I don’t have access to the front near the stage.
I have a love hate relationship with this camera. It does not have a great dynamic range, so high contrast scenes are difficult. You have to watch your light. It is not great in low light, so I bought a canon ex430 strobe. It takes amazing photos using a flash. I shoot using the sunny 16 rule. For general photography I use iso 400, ss 400 and adjust the aperture as needed. This is kind of the wheel house for this camera.
Sony HX9V. Check it out. I had one it was amazing. The HXV line up continued to the 30-400 V's I believe. They got better along the way. But got bigger. I wanted to keep thing small and compact.
I have the same exact criteria as you. Looking for a compact-ish older digital camera with physical manual controls, a viewfinder, and ability to shoot good video in 24fps. What would be an alternative to the G1X in that regard?

I've not found one that is as small, although I'm testing the Fujifilm X-T20 with the 27mm pancake and LOVING IT!!! I'll have a full review soon.
