Slay the Princess. Shifting Mound thoughts on all vessels

- I've complied a list of all thoughts the Shifting Mound has on the vessels. It's technically exhaustive in terms of text, but you may get some variations in the exact voice depending on when you bring the vessel and how (for example, the Head of the Prisoner and the Heart of the Razor are not included here, but the mound has the same thoughts on them as they have on the Full Razor and shackled Prisoner).
The vessels appear in this order:
The Stranger (first loop)
The Adversary
The Eye of the Needle
The Fury
The Tower
The Apotheosis
The Beast
The Den
The Wounded Wild
The Networked Wild
The Damsel
The Deconstructed Damsel
The Burned Grey
The Nightmare
The Moment of Clarity
The Prisoner
The Drowned Grey
The Razor
The Spectre
The Wraith
The Witch
The Thorn
Timestamps:
0:01 The Stranger
0:40 The Adversary
1:05 The Eye of the Needle
1:29 The Fury
1:51 The Tower
2:10 The Apotheosis
2:28 The Beast
2:57 The Den
3:26 The Wounded Wild
3:45 The Connected Wild
4:05 The Damsel
4:22 The Damsel (Deconstructed)
4:39 The Burning Grey
4:59 The Nightmare
5:23 Moment of Clarity
5:46 The Prisoner
6:04 The Drowning Grey
6:34 Mutually Assured Destruction
6:52 The Spectre
7:20 The Wraith
7:46 The Witch
8:05 The Thorns
Note:
The one's that are not here are The Prisoner (Decapitated) and The Empty Cup but similar to the Damsel and the Damsel (Deconstructed) they're merely visual changes which also impact the final debate with the Shifting Mounds.
Thank you
There are also two versions of the Wounded Wild, the one you detached from the tree and the one you slayed.
I wish they were included, though....
THANK YOIU
The fact that the Shifting Mound can claim the shitty drawing version of the Damsel is so fucking funny
a shitty drawing is still a drawing
and so, a shitty damsel is still a princess
Excuse me she's the "deconstructed" princess lmao
Can we have a moment of silence for the person that had to draw all of those hands?
It's like someone wanted a quiet life.
Yeah. Abby hand-drew all of the sprites and backgrounds too. She and Tony are certainly a creative power couple.

Frick yeah they are!
Domain Expansion: Self-embodiment of perfection
Do not mourn them. For they shall live forever in their art.
I like all of her "Do not mourn her" lines except for the damsel ones, "She has served her purpose" feels so discompasionate.
I took it as a reflection of the player's apparent callous betrayal/dismissal of her personhood, but in my head I do always replace it with "do not mourn her; she is loved now" or something like that. A subtle reprimand.
But you could also take it as a consequence of her divine nature. She's a god, not a person, and while she's a being of inhumanly pure compassion and benevolence, it's from an outsiders perspective. Its a human's sincere pity for an injured spider, something deeper than the spider could imagine but from a perspective so alien to its experience that it's tough for us to interact with it in a way that won't make things worse.
The Damsel is shaped by your desire to be as compassionate to the Princess as possible, to give her kindness and love. And when you freed her, that's exactly what you did. In that regard, she did serve her 'purpose' and was happy for it.
Arguably all the vessels have “served their purpose” once the shifting mound claims them; it’s just clearest with Damsel.
I think that’s supposed to reflect on how the Deconstructed Damsel isn’t really her own character. She’s supposed to be a typical, idealized, damsel-in-distress. The most she gets to having her own agency is wanting to leave the cabin and wanting to make the player character happy. This simplification of her character is reflected in her art style simplifying when we press her on what would make HER happy. A simplified description for a simplified vessel.
The nightmare: can shut your vital organs by touching you= most saddest and loneliest princess.
Tries to open up to you and drives everyone insane.
Do not mourn her - she has finally found her way home.
“This one is filled with sadness,a doll abandoned by the company of her darkest impulses. She desires only companionship, but the only thing she knows is how to hurt.”
The way Shifty always tries to comfort the player character. “Do not mourn her.” Aw.
Is it just me or does she sound especially sad about The Wild? She finds something good in every vessel, and gives them all peace of some kind.
Can't get over how you call her shifty XD don't know why that's so funny to me I just call her princess or the goddess
@@riskiadityacahyadiputra3456I heard the fanbase calls her that, and the developers apparently kinda like it! But yes, it’s very silly.
every time she says "do not mourn her" i choke up every time ;; the shifting mound is so tender with all her vessels and it gives me emotions every time.
Watching the Shifting Mound so peacefully and calmly cradle the more aggressive and physically frightening vessels (like Adversary, Needle, Fury, Tower, and Apotheosis) is hypnotic.
It's a really ethereal experience getting to this part of the game, especially with a vessel like you describe. It enforces the underlying kindness and sensitivity of the Shifting Mound in a really beautiful way
I don't know if it happens only if the Damsel is the first one you take to her, but in my run she said something like:
"She wants me to ask you to remember her. You won't."
And then at the end when you get to talk to her you can actually answer that your feelings never left you. This game can be as adorable and corny as it can be dark and I love it for it.
That line is said when you give the mound the first vessel I believe.
The first vessel you get will both have this dialogue, and will be at the heart of the shifting mound
@@djmewtwo6981 Christ, I feel sorry for that one streamer who got the deconstructed damsel on the first run. Imagine getting soft-locked into the Nyan Neko Sugar Girl as your one true love.
@@deadmeme8011 I mean, she has the memories of the deconstructed damsel but she looks more like the actual damsel
@@djmewtwo6981Actually no: the princess you meet at the heart is the first Ch1 princess you met, solely based on whether or not you took the knife on the first go. The only exception is Stranger; even though she's from ch2, you don't meet her during chapter 1.
I usually dont rely on human voices for asmr but... this voice... wow, i could stay there listening for hours to her and get more relaxed than i have ever managed to get
I absolutely love her voice, it's so wonderful to listen to 😍
that one ending with the razor where the hand just takes the princess's heart: "She is a being. She will make for a heart."
This game is so beautiful.
I know I already commented but I don’t know what it is about these moments that unironically make me cry.
I notice the voice is particularly delicate during the Wild segments. She’s looking at your old reflection, the one you shared, that you can’t ever truly get back.
No princess was truly happy. In the Shifting Mound they can rest again, and find everything they wanted.
Twenty-two different paths, and several of them have the same 'heart'. It honestly makes me wonder which makes for the "best" hearts.
Damsel, grey, thorns, nightmare, and stranger id say
For me, it's Damsel, Prisoner or Specter, Thorn, Nightmare, and Stranger. But, I guess in the end, it doesn't really matter that much since all versions outside of your main five get absorbed by her through gravity anyway.
Fucking finally, a video of just the mound talking. I can’t get enough of the voice
Thank you so much for this; I could not for the life of me find her thoughts on The Prisoner or The Drowned Grey and I'm not really in a position to buy the game right now
I believe this is one of those games that the devs said pirate it if you want to experience it and then buy it later if you liked it.
@@helpfulDeathgod
Yeah I've intentionally avoided knowing anything at all about the endings so I'll still have reason to play through it myself when I can buy it
My very first play through, without any guides and only a passing idea of avoiding the path because of a glimpse I got of the demo waaay back when it first came out... I got Stranger at the start, Eye of the Needle (from the god one), Prisoner (just the head) and A Moment of Clarity. It was _wild._
I got Stranger on my first playthrough too, and that was 100% blind, except for some very limited stuff seen on YT
Thank you so much for this video; this game is gorgeous in both art and writing. ♥
Thank you for this
The Prisoner's Head is missing 😢
@@superieur11407 And Razor's Heart without her blade body. Still it's a pretty decent compilation. :]
they're the same dialogue lines as the other versions i think
Does the shifting mound bring the end by slowly approaching the cabin every time or does the construct naturally last no more than a few minutes?
I think the Shifting Mound collects the princesses whenever She determines that they don’t have anywhere further to go on their paths. Like, there’s no more fresh perspectives to be gathered. I got this idea from watching routes where the Player character kills or abandons the Thorn princess and the Shifting Mound comes in like clockwork, like She knows there’s nowhere left to go after that, nothing new to see for that princess. But I also think the princess leaving the cabin has something to do with the Shifting Mound coming in. Whenever they go outside, the construct of the cabin collapses. Maybe because they’re bringing about the end of the world faster as soon as they step out.
@@nkbujvytcygvujno6006I think it's less her deciding that and more us, subconsciously telling her there are no more perspectives to gain from this vessel so she swoops in to collect them.
And when you really think about it, Shifty isn't the one ending those mini- worlds within the construct, we are, even if we don't realise it - if the space is the Long Quiet and we're the Long Quiet, then we must have something to do with this. I dunno, just a thought
I love how even if some of them are the same as previous ones we see if you look closely at the art style and the tone of the voice actresses way of delivering the lines it's clearly supposed to be different as if the game went to an update
Also did it go through an update?
Gracias!
Can i get a Spotify version of her talking no music
