Bonus fact I forgot to mention: As the Sand Shark is related to Research Specimen Theta, this would also make it related to the Blighter and the Bighter as the creatures share common skeletal structures and the classic twin eyes!
WOAH COOL so the bighter and blighter and sand shark must have some kind of relation ,I think the sand shark is a mutant version of the bighter and blighter
It is terrifying that in real life it can potentially ambush you and swallow your whole lower half in one try with that huge mouth. And yet the good ol' Ryley tanks a huge representation of the Reaper of Death underwater calmly.

Yeah Subnautica size is weird, from the first person view everything looks smaller than it actually is! Using console commands and size referencing you can see each creatures true size, which is quite terrifying honestly!

Fun fact one time I broke the Ai of 11 sand shark so they are completly passive and they are wandering around my base (I live in the starter area) and it is going on for 3 years😅
I really love the way you make these videos, especially the thumbnails, with the lovely art. The only thing that sucks, is that I've seen every video on your channel. Anyway thx, and I hope you make more of these!
This factfiles have come such a long way! They've always had some awesome info but the editing and presentation is so cool to see now :D Nice work Aletho!
I once was chasing after a cute little peeper I was new to the game at the time and had been wandering just outside the kelp forest exploring then the peeper got scared and swam away only to be eaten by a Sand shark that jumped out of the sand at lighting speed and I saw the poor peeper get turned to yellow mist.
Imagine if they made a spear fishing/exploration game like the first Subnautica. The sheer horror of some of the areas while you're just trying to survive but with out the promise that you'll be saved. I was a bit surprised by the lack of cephalopods in the initial game in general. I was fully expecting a cuddle fish the size of a box truck for the horror/hunter aspect.
At 2:13 when you said the sand shark had fins they seem to act more like paddles which is probably why you dont see them casually swimming far from the ocean bed the paddles remind me of the paddles on ancient prehistoric sand scorpions which probably explains their zig zag swimming. Other than that great video!
its honestly hilarious how pathetically nonthreatening they are once you actually observe them. I usually build my first base in the grassy plateau and while swimming working on my base it took over a minute for a local sand shark to actually bite me. it never went away swimming and roaring outside my base so I just called him Hobbes because I was so unthreatened by him lol
when I first got a sea mouth and was attacked by a sand shark and realized they couldn’t hurt me in there I just started to bully and ram them each time I saw them
Once somebody told me that there was lithium at the back of aurora I got absolutely terrified when I heard a roar then the reaper pretty much went yo what’s up - I quit for 2 years

honestly i don't think these guys are that aggressive- like i don't think i've really ever been bit by one they kinda just chillin and bit you if your are trying to get bit or are new to the game
So, I ended up giving everything a name when playing through Subnautica for the first time. It wasn't quite on purpose, but I didn't fight myself doing it. The Sandshark I had named "bitch." (Is that okay for me to say in the comments here?) They were pretty much just a complete annoyance as I was always fed up with trying to find silver ore when they'd always attack. That's pretty much it. I didn't feel that interested in them.

To everybody confused by the size estimation, subnautica has a strange perspective glitch which makes things look smaller.
this explains the "thumb sized" rockgrub.

Oh great! I just finished watching all your videos and was about to go, "Please sir, can I have some more?"
Love your content!
I’d love to see a video about the Boneshark next, or something about the other lifepods and survivors. Love the vids, keep up the good work
Thanks for that new video ❤
No problem Keniou!
I love your videos! They are very interesting!
Thanks CyberCoder! I appreciate your support :)
You should do the crab squid next!
Yeah
Yay!! Sand shark!!!!! Now I am curious on if it can win against a great white shark. Also I hope that we get the bone shark next!!!!!!
It would definitely make an interesting fight!
The sand shark is the pug of the ocean.
Love this channel so helpful to know more about subnauticas most iconic creatures!!!

I never actually got chased around by a sand shark. They’ve always been cool with me
I wanna see the lava lizard
Love your videos an humor, please dont ever stop :)
If they truly don't attack prey that fights back then why TF do they look at a huge mech with drill arms and decide that's their lunch????
They aren't always the brightest xD
One thing I can say. Jimmy (the Sand Shark that is right next to my base making him my neighbour) is pretty friendly, but he bites sometimes.
I love your title art😄
I wanna see the crabsquid and crabsnake
Great video and the Skyrim reference gave me a good chuckle!
Thanks Shiny! Good to see you again :)

Sand shark the man of legend like wiggling around

Do boneshark next or crabsnake
The sand shark and the biter might have been descendants of research specimen theta that theory came from another RUclipsr of subnautica
The PDA confirms they share skeletal stuctures, so descendance is likely

The sandshark’s eyes are positioned on the sides of it’s head, therefore it is classified as a prey animal.
