Also, to answer your question, M. Shadows was around 19 when this album was recorded, so yeah, they were pretty young when this was made.
Pretty sure Johnny was 16 or 17
@@laithandoherty3003 johnny wasn't on STST
This time period for the band had the following members active in it:
Matt Sanders=vocals
Zacky baker= guitar
Matt Wentz= bassist
Jimmy sullivan= drums
The album was recorded in about a week with a tight budget of 2 grand however brian haner was not, at the time, in the band but matt kept attempting to recruit him over and over and over knowing he was an extremely talented guitar player. Brian and Jimmy were actually in a separate band at the time called pinkly smooth which is primarily just goblin metal stuff very heavily Danny elfman influenced. When brian finally joined the band the reissued the album(blue) with him on guitar playing a song called to end the rapture and that's the song that caught the record labels attention. It's also a song that only seriously dedicated fans really know about. It's only about a minute and a half long you should check it out. All of the band members were still in grade school when this album came out. I'm pretty sure I got all of the information for you possible, have a wonderful rest of your day dude🤘🤘
Also, are you using a tone cable for rocksmith? I attempted to redownload it and i have absolutely zero idea where my tone cable is so I will have to reorder one. I attempted to check that rocksmith plus game out man but I'm honestly not down with paying 10 bucks a month to play it, I'm not trying be cheap or anything but I stopped playing warcraft because of the subscription service.
yup, realtone cable. Although he may have it plugged into an external cable, he uses a pedal as well to change tuning.
@@demyn7848 yes my amp also had the option for a tone selector foot switch. I think I'm going to simply break down and order another cable and run it from my amp to my pc I spent alot of time getting my tone exactly how I wanted and I plan to use it for this game both distorted and acoustic.
Actually, he did play To End The Rapture on stream. I forget if he posted it, but remember him absolutely clowning of Matt's vocals lol
The Rev doing them all in one take is true, towards the end of the album supposedly he messes up a couple of times but i haven't listened enough to pick it out
From what i understand he didn't outright mess up but he got sloppier
His sense of timing got sloppy. The only thing worse than an egotistical drummer is a sloppy one who cant stay in time worth dick.
@@justinbowen1183 well to be fair they were barely-out-of-highschool kids when they made this so it makes sense that they were so nonchalant about it, by the next album it's clear they took it much more seriously
@@emilionavarrete5169 waking the fallen sounded like they had become air tight and way way better at writing. I have 2 demos of my own band from back in the day. The first one sounds like a group of kids who know what their doing but its extremely sloppy and out of time however the second recording sounds super air tight and we really sounded like we got our shit together on that 2nd one. Its something I hold very near and dear to myself I was extremely proud of how much better we clearly had gotten, good times...
For a Album that was recorded in 8 days with A budget of $2000, it honesty is not that bad. I mean, im a HARD A7X fan, and i still listen to it every now and than. Just Not one of those albums that I personally was wowed by. Its still listenable.
The album was $5000 to record and the 2000 was given to them from a label at the time and they paid off the $3000 by working jobs and paying it off
I played this CD so much when I was in middle school that I had to buy a new one. This is easily my favorite metal core album and I will die by this hill! I’ll acknowledge that it’s not their “best” album, but it just clicks with me and I can’t ever get enough.
the biggest issue was how they rushed to get into the studio. The songs on this album are great, just poorly executed.
@@raptorrsr5817 I think the rawness adds to the charm. That's one of the reasons I love it.
I actually think it was their best album
Finally another A7X song so i can watch some Chainbrain
M. Shadows has said that he had basically no vocal training until City of Evil.
Okay but the riffs aren’t… bad, I fuckin love them actually lol
the first album has the best riffs... but vocals are tragic on that album
@@kartoflanystefan4937 yup worst vocals but man that drumming and bass tho
You can tell they're young in this album they really came through with Waken the fallen 🤘🤘
They were 20/21 when this was released... So I think it's a safe assumption that many of the songs off this album were written in HS or right after.
Adding to avenged sevenfold RUclips analytics 👍
MY HERO
Jimmy killed it on this song
I honestly forgot that Zacky was the only guitarist at this point and Synyster wasn’t in the band until Waking the Fallen, the dude definitely killed it and Shadows can definitely scream but it’s a good thing his clean vocals got way better over time
ngl even though it's all over the place I kind of love this album. This and Lips of Deceit are definitely the best off of the album though
I watch all the videos lol, I mean it's not bad but his clean vocals kinda threw it off at the end though I guess like you said, they where finding there sound at the time.
Love these videos thanks for doing it. If you can try to play, "an epic time wasted"
I'll check it out!
I am a die hard avenged fan but I struggle with this album parts I love others can just get in the bin
Best album they did, it's aggressive
once the avenged sevenfold series is done, you should do slipknot next or someone else
M shadows was 21
💯💯💯💯💯
Please play this CDLC SONG: Tenacious D belzeboss
This album is just a big mess that has some good moments, including some sick riffs. Most f Matt's clean vocals are abysmal, and a lot of the lyrics hurt my soul, but I think it was important for them, and they matured a lot musically. since. They were just kids, after all, and frankly, it is more musically than I achieved by that time of my life
Hello
helo
Synyster gates actually only did 1 song for this album. The rest of the guitar was completely done by zacky vengeance who now does the rhythm sections. Lack of gates is one of many reasons this album sucks ass
no it's not
Yeah that's the intro track To End The Rapture for the re-release of the album. On the original release that song was piano only, re-release got a guitar version of the song with Synyster Gates playing
1st
maybe the last?
i was first
@@Chainbrain next time try indonesian songs maybe
Some great riffs in this first album but damn the songs are a huge mess. Also yeah the vocals sucks
