The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is a MASTERPIECE. We haven't seen the Ninja Turtles since. All of the best CGI and modern technology in the world right now still can't even come close to that level of greatness. It says so much about where we are at today and how far things have fallen.
@@JosephCox-yx4ds First was perfect origin story, second was an amazing follow up and i know people hate on the third but its so fucking bad its fantastic in my opinion and this series is hands down one my favorite series period
The second film was stupid. The first was dark and gritty, which is the tone you would expect from a double murderer who is preying on vulnerable teens to do his bidding. The second film lost hold of this and that’s why it was just silly…
The only way this movie can be better now is if there was a Anniversary release with all the behind-the-scenes details, original interviews, and reunion talk with the cast and crew.
I dunno about that, I mean just look at Gollum from Lord of the Rings from 2001. Sure its older but still think Gollum looked better than the CGI turtles. Like I really do think the latest CGI could of done a waaaaaaaaay better job.
I'm glad the director stuck to his guns about the film, he made some great choices that we all love, I never knew the film was shot in North Carolina which is where I'm from so thats a major plus for me!!! Great video
The dark gritty but still fun and light hearted is the perfection for the tmnt. Not going to bright or too dark. This balance is what they need. Also the suits with cgi faces would be the best way to make a tmnt movie today. I remember that the movie Where the Wild Things Are was made like this and looks very impressive.
Also, that foot clan warehouse got me as a child, I wanted to go there. Looks super fun. Skateboard ramp, video games, basketball, rock music, and a whole bunch of other stuff - yeah, they were stolen goods and recruiting for a clan, but gotta give them credit for knowing how to entice kids 'rejected from the outside world.'
Yes very true. The warehouse scene is so well shot. It shows how abandon kids will most likely turn to crime. It showed how badass Shredder’s empire was. I like the way the opening ended up. The Turtles are slowly revealed. The fact that we just hear them first, then we see just Raph's mask and eyes, then we see them in silhouette, then the full suits are revealed in all their glory when Leo leaps into frame, and the others follow. As cool a visual as the giant turtle shells surfacing is, I think the reveal plays better without it. Lol its funny because that joke would never get past the censors today.
@@metaloverload7374 it’s funnier because it was way over any kid’s head.
I was 10 years old in 1990. I loved the film and how dark and honestly how edgy it was for a kids film. They didn’t dumb it down like they did in the later movies. I love it and the darkness of it. I still love it to this day. Still the best TMNT film ever made.
I've noticed that when a director/actor is getting flack about something they have done and the director/actor fight for that thing, it's usually the the defining thing that everyone loved about the movie.
So cool! Born in late 87, I must have seen this movie dozens of times before I was 10. I watched it recently in my mid 30s and there was a strange newness with all the familiarities. It was like watching two movies, one I knew completely and one I had never seen, really cool to see it after so much time had passed since the last time I saw it I probably was 10.
I'd love a new 4k transfer of the 1990 movie with the director commentary. I'd also love if those deleted scenes do exist to be included too.
