Used to live in the hills to the north of Flabob, had a great view. Also back in the day, traffic used the opposite direction and we were right under the approach path. Guys would be coming in so low and banking over the house I could see the pattern of the pilots shirt! Loved it!!
Hey Bill! Great video. From what I can find, Departure procedures off 24 advise turning left 10 degrees and switching over to Riverside tower…any issues requesting the transition being so close to their Delta on a straight out? I suppose if the radio traffic was busy one could always depart on the downwind and circle back to request the transition, but curious as to your experience at this airport. Thanks for the great content!! See ya!!!
Thanks! This was my first flight after getting my PPL lol. Been back many times now...super easy to call Riverside Tower on the ground at Flabob ahead of time. I've gotten flight following that way too
That was so cool seeing your vantage and Julia's at the same time! The one thing seeing this real world flight is how more distorted the audio is compared to PilotEdge - I think they need to tweak that more.
Ya it's tough though to mimic all the different radios, distances, etc. Some pilots sound SO clear! Others sound like like it's WWII. Thanks for watching!
Flying in tomorrow. First time since ppl. Only once with my instructor. Wanted a reminder for transitioning. Thanks! How did you transition departure? Call tower on ground or after take off ?
Cool to see you land there for real! It must be interesting to fly there and in real life and in the sim? How much does the sim help your flying when you go to do it in real life? Good footage! I'm guessing MSFS will possibly make it more helpful?
Flying in the sim and then going there IRL is super cool. I've done it for almost every airport I've been to in real life and it makes a big difference. The biggest help is the surrounding terrain leading up to the airport. It's pretty easy with Google Earth to get an idea what the actual airport looks but where the terrain is enroute is really helpful. MSFS won't make much more of a difference than a well-setup X-Plane. Very happy with it.
Excelente has been a great addition to the team 🎉❤

@@Bill4LE nice! Cool to know that comms with Riverside will work on the ground! Thanks so much Bill!!
'Quality' - those new GoPro views ! Nice work Bill.
Nice great video! Good to see you as PIC!
Thanks! It felt really good to finally get the first PPL flight in!
Bill4LE I bet!

lol I thought that was funny when you said that socal frequency sounds like pilotedge. So true
Haha! It absolutely did :) PE is great practice!
Yep, mountain in the pattern. Yikes. Looks scary. Also, that runway looks pretty nasty also as you said. I am a student pilot doing checkride prep.
Ya it's uncomfortable the first time! You get used to it but luckily they have re-done the runway since. Great airport!
Great quality vid, what do you use to record the audio? I have the same headset as you as well. Audio is quality is fantastic! Thanks Bill
Thanks, Dave! I use the Nflightcam audio cable. It's excellent!
Nice flight, Bill! Real fun to hear you guys compare to PilotEdge. Keep these vids coming!
Thanks, Jonge! Ya, it definitely had a PE feel up there :)
Turning Nurthbound lol.

I actually call up Riverside Tower on the ground to give them a heads up. It's super, super easy.
@@Bill4LE done it a few times. Now I just make left traffic and go around the Delta. I’ll try on the ground next time. Thanks!!!
Just getting started with XPlane. Do you have a video on the equipment and setup you use?
Awesome, Rusty! I really don't have a good video on that. But if you join the Discord, we can definitely help you out! discord.gg/uPHJRY
