Just passed my Private Pilot checkride 3 days ago and my DPE diverted me to this airport. I managed to put her down on the center. Yes, Crazy how close you have to get to that mountain.
I flew into Flabob 20 years ago as a student pilot. Turning downwind to base at the mountain seriously made me pucker! I never made that flight again! LOL
I just had my check-ride 3 days ago and my DPE diverted me to this airport. I landed her right on center. Guess this DPE wanted to see if I could land in difficult conditions.
Great flight. I’m transitioning into LSA’s due to a Class 3 issue. Flown the Tecnam P92 and the Vashon Ranger. This week I’m flying a Sportcruiser and hopefully the Tecnam Astore. That should give me a good feel for high wing and low wing in that category. Hopefully will be able to narrow it down and start my search during the Deland Aviation showcase in November. Safe travels. KAPF
@@rpcraighead glad to hear the Sportcruiser review. IFR (legally) is off the board for me since I’m flying on my SEL but under Light Sport Regs. Funny thing about that is the avionics on the newer Light Sports are light years ahead of the legacy planes. Go figure. LSA is a hot market right now, used are at a premium and ordering new is the better part of a year. But I’m all in.
@@Bill4LE hot off the presses. I just climbed out of a Vashon Ranger. Dynon glass display. Continental O 200 D engine. I’m sold. The way it flew, the cockpit room and comfort was amazing. Flew it from Venice Beach Florida. Autopilot linked to the display was seamless. Dynon is the parent company of Vashon so they did their homework on mating the two.

Nice flight, thanks for taking us along
Thanks so much for watching, @Kerbo!
"You want to take the controls?"
"No."
"Take the controls."
You guys are the best. Can't wait until we can get together for a couple cold ones.
We love you, Marcus! Cannot wait for some happy hour time!
Been to Flabob twice... LOVE that airport! I've got a buddy that flies a DC3 in and out of there. Nerves of steel!
It's awesome! I have a friend that flies DC3s there too. They go around the mountain IIRC but still a tight squeeze lol
i wanna sit on that mountain in a lawn chair and watch the arrivals lol you could wave at the planes from there
Me too! It'd be so cool!

Ya it's super gnarly the first time! I love it!

Did they resurface the runway last year? Last time I was there the runway was trashed. Love this place too!
Ya they just resurfaced it. It's SO much better
Awesome !!!
Thanks, Brad!
The landings restaurant at CRQ is great
I haven't full-stopped there yet. Gotta check it out.

Huge SportCruiser fan here... I think I've got 60 hours in them... If I didn't want an IFR platform, I'd probably buy one!

Nice! I hope you get a clear answer. I'm really not a Rotax fan but the Tecnam products look pretty sorted. That's exciting!

Bill, love this video!... Check out Riverside Airport cafe as well. Cheers!
The goal is to hit all of them! :) Thanks so much, Todd!
Camarillo has way better food. Not into sandwiches.
