It's quite interesting when you realize that the whole system about the unlocking vocations through quests also helped keep the mystery of how many vocations there are. Even despite them giving a 10 Hour play session to IGN.

idk, the destination has always been really fun too though in DD:DA lmao, the ending to the first playthrough is probably one of the more memorable moments in gaming for me.
I'm happy they stuck to their guns regarding travelling, keeping the port crystal system and adding new elements like camping kits, that's how you deepen the value of exploration.

I’m playing DDDA right now and not having more camps is hindering me a little bit, but i’m glad they are adding that.
No map markers + no fast travel is old school gaming. Glad to see a renewal in current games, it's so much better and inmersive

Probably the best form of fast travel either a custom spot via the stone or OX carts that can lead into organic adventures
I'm curious to hear more about how the Archer class plays. It seems like it might be a harder class to play if it doesn't have the power of a warrior or the dodge of the thief.
When playing the original DD, ranger had a couple of abilities similar to other games with archers. They leap up backwards and dash back while firing off a shot. I'm glad they included some better dodge for the sorcerer/mage classes. They used to have no dodge mechanics. So leaves me hopeful the other ranged classes get a little variety or useful dodge abilities!
it has close range auto aim making it play essentially play like a melee weapon
@@Alistair_7609 It does but also has a manual aim mode like an FPS which makes me kind of excited to play on mouse and keyboard
It's hard back then since gyro aiming is nowhere to be seen in the setting lmao.
Respecing into another class is not just doable in Dragon's Dogma, its an intended mechanic if you wanna level up an hybrid class so you get the most of it
There was an eternal ferrystone in DD1. Would make sense to have one in DD2 at some point especially since the map is so much bigger.
As someone who has well over 1000 hours in the first game, I’m excited to see so many new fans come to the series. The community is chomping at the bit just to experience gaming in its golden era and between Capcom and Larian studios we are getting true successes in the industry driven by truly imagination driven games.

Still just blown away that there’s still only one save slot. Probably my only gripe about this classic sleeper.
Why the hell do you need multiple slots. The whole point is to try different builds on one character. That's literally why you can switch at any time.
@@GLBlackestNight game ending glitches. When these RPG games come out there’s usually bugs that you have to wait out and it ruins the flow of the game…whereas with different save slots you have backups in case something glitches out…and it usually does no matter how great the game is.
@@Giggidy11 If a game breaking bug happens then it would be very unlikely that an auto save would happen, so you just reload the previous save.
So it is exactly like dragons dogma 1, just with better graphics, maybe better balance, way more classes, and improved pawn mechanics? Sounds like game of the year.

Seems like there’s still pink and purple vocations that the trickster stems from, and illusions are fake, alchemik gold is kinda fake gold, so hey maybe? 😂 i’m reaching hard but there is credibility to the two more vocations.

You likely mean art style. Gothic 1 and 2 were absolute bangers. DD is a very different game, less nuanced questing and world exploration, but way more thought out combat and enemie design. Hope DD2 would take world and quest design lessons from Gothic games.

Yea you could remove pretty much everything in DD1. If it's not an option in this game I'm hoping someone will mod it
I'm sure you can. The UI options in DD1 were fairly substantial, so I'd hope they haven't regressed. Like welfare said, if they don't, modding should be pretty active for this game.

@@IamJustA People keep saying this. It's the same engine as Resident Evil 4 remake... and there's over 2,000 mods for that one on nexus. Mods will happen, DRM or not.
Hopefully there will be a full fast travel system at some point because even with Elden Ring where you could fast travel between sites of grace, the world still felt massive

There is, the first dragon's dogma has a fast travel system but unlike ER or other games you have to put it yourself, there were these crystals that you could carry and plant on any location and that opened a new fast travel point and those carry all the way to new game plus.
Please make more than one savegame. 🤞🏻 I want to make multiple adventures 😊💪🏻

Yes you can. If it's anything like the first game there will be hidden stats. Like larger characters may have more health or carrying weigh while smaller characters are faster and jump higher etc. So keep an eye out for that

Do you "have to" level the core classes in a specific order to benefit the most from the passives like the first game?
If you're talking about how stats worked in the first one (giving you stats based on your class that don't change when you change class), then no.

The lack of free fast travel reminds of EverQuest, where only a caster could port themselves to their bound zone (and only an INT caster could bind others to a zone with limitations, and only Druids and Wizards could port others to zones with limitations before port stones/spires populated the world), and that immersion relying on community felt great :>

You can tell none of them has played the first dragons dogma. They keep saying you couldn’t do this on the first but you can on the second about the wrong stuff. Like filtering between pawns tht know ur quest they definitely had tht on the first game
keep in mind, they changed a lot of stuff between dragons dogma and dark arisen.
@@Joyapp No they didn't, DD1 and DDDA are the same game the only differences is that one is a bundle with all the DLCs no banger intro song and no Berserk armor. Thats it (source: being playing this game religiously since it came out)

I'm glad they are focusing on making the open world and traveling more engaging rather then just making fast traveling easier. Far too many games use fast traveling as a band-aid for boring traversal and a lack of player engagement. Games like Elden Ring and Zelda are at their most fun when you are actively exploring areas and seeing new things, not when you're mindlessly teleporting around due to busywork.

Hope the cities are a bit more full of people in the final build. City squares look rather empty in some parts of this footage
In the first game at least most of the npcs actually had a purpose or some kind of quest or interesting dialogue. So even if the cities might feel a bit empty it's more full of life than say skyrim. It's kind of like breath of the wild

Series X is weak. It's probably locked 30 to keep the game looking pretty. It may have a 60 frames performance mode if your lucky.

no manual save? In the first game you could kill NPCs during escort quests for example. and that's it, your quest failed, can't retry it. But at least you could reload save file. Wonder what's it gonna be like in dd2. Looking forward to the game, but i'm concerned a bit with high probability of f'***ing up your entire playthrough after putting dozens hours into it, simply cuz you made some dumb mistake during the quest
ya I'm okay with one save manual save like part 1. Here's hoping they are just playing with an early unfinished build of the game.

@@DroneCorpse The state of play footage had no noticeable motion blur, it is not 30 FPS with 60 FPS playback. It is 60 FPS with some dips and at other times they showed footage in 30 FPS. Get your eyeballs checked.
Even steam says Additional Notes: Estimated performance: 1080p/30fps. That's PC, consoles aren't getting 60fps anytime soon

I'd like to ask you a question. In one image you see four fighters, a basic vocation. One of them has a rapier and no shield. Will it be possible to play with just a one-handed sword? Like a duelist.
Probably; you could do it in the first game as a fighter - just don't equip a shield
