The guy introducing DiCaprio at the end of the movie in the seminar is actually the real Jordan Belfort in a cameo.
holy fuck
I was going to comment this.. It checks out
Tommy Chong was Jordans cell mate..
@@shashashashadowbannedbud4371 lucky guy was probably stoned out of his mind every night! 😂😂😎😎
To this day still a complete piece of trash
I love how Matthew McConaughey just has 7 minutes of screen time in a 3 hour movie, and he is still one of the most memorable things about it.
Their lunch scene was also improvised too on the spot
Amazing Performance!. Charisma every second.
Matthew won the academy award that year for best actor in Dallas Buyers Club. It was nice of him to visit The Wolf of Wall Street XD
This was during the famous McConaissance where he did True Detective and Dallas Buyers Club as well
@@shirtlesswog7477: Actually that wasn't an improvisation but a ritual of Matthew McConaughey performed always before his scenes. The shot originally was recorded without that little performance, and Scorsese was also satisfied. But DiCaprio asked if they could try it again, including that little ritual of McConaughey's because he thought it would fit well for the character. However, the second part (not included in the reaction), where McConaughey asks DiCaprio to join in the chanting, was indeed an improvisation.
Fun fact the guy that introduces Jordan Belfort (Leonardo) is the real Jordan Belfort
Man I was about to say that, cause the guy looked just like Jordan then I thought *that is JORDAN BELFORT*
Unrelated but when Jordan Belfort went to jail he became friends with Tommy Chong of cheech and chong fame
@@unklemichael Was this when he was in jail for having a company that sold bongs somewhere where it was technically against the law?
@@LumpyHippo yes it was. Tommy talks about it in the show "this is not happening". The whole thing was a setup on the dea's part but the story is pretty hilarious.
I watch him on RUclips, guy is dripping with enthusiasm 😐
The final shot is meant to signify that despite all of the terrible things Jordan has done - all of the shady dealings, illegal activity, the ridiculous amount of debauchery and drug use... people still want to learn from him. The crowd represents us, the audience, who decided to sit down and watch a man tear apart his life and the lives of others for a life of freedom, carelessness, and moral ignorance... and yet there is still a part of us that wishes we could be like Jordan. No matter who you are, chances are you secretly want a taste of that lifestyle. It's one of my favorite shots in the entire movie, because it basically points at you, the viewer, and says "and yet after all that, you still want in don't you?" Such a great film, Scorsese's best in my opinion!
it's also the idea of, there were people who criticized the film for promoting and encouraging this type of behavior, but the film is just showing it. It's not Scorsese's fault that some of us idolize this lifestyle, it's the audience's fault (for lack of a better word).
@@i_so_late We live in a society that blames everyone else instead of asking for personal responsibility. You both nailed the simple and elegant part of human attraction, despite the risks/morality.
Funny tf2 man
To be fair Dane, as far as punishment goes he basically got a slap on the wrist from the government. Sure, he lost his wife and custody of his daughter, but people who have done far less than him have had the same fate in that regard. At the end of the day he's still rich, still extremely influential and he has no real incentive whatsoever not to be. So if you're an externally motivated person who has nothing resembling a moral code, you'd have no problem wanting in on what he's got.
@@nathancollins1715 Yeah, Belfort married again, moved to Australia, travels all over the world with his seminars and lives a pretty good life in general. He still owes ~100 million dollars to the government, but no one presses him to pay., and he won't ever pay all of the sum.
If all someone got from this movie is "being Belfort is awesome" after watching him beat his wife and crash a car with his daughter inside, and after watching him being a despicable piece of shit through the entire movie, there's something fundamentally wrong with this person.

Tommy Chong was Jordan Belfort's cell mate in prison. Chong was the one who gave Jordan the idea to write a book about his life. So if it wasn't for Chong, this movie wouldn't exist
Gotta love it. A pothead sitting next to a crackhead business criminal (worst type of human being on the planet). Only in America. Where being pain free is as criminal as stealing.
@@christhornycroft3686 he only served 9 months and it was for illegally distributing pipes
That’s crazy.
I don't think a single movie Leo has done hasn't deserved an award. This movie is no different. He's an absolute legend
The Beach, Critters 3 or 4, but yeah...he's been in some great movies.
Uhhh.. I'm gonna throw J. Edgar out there.
@@colinbooth531 the beach is a good movie I never understood the hate
@@abemrofchak I actually really like that one. And I think his performance was very commendable.
I would also say his Romeo + Juliet days were not too great, nor was his performance in The Man in the Iron Mask. Every performance Leo has given starting with Catch Me if You Can and including his role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? were all phenomenal.
This must have been a hard reaction to edit for RUclips
I was thinking the same lol
On the contrary, I think you only have to look at 20% of the movie...
I love how when the lemmons kick in, continuity is just all over the place. Like his distance to the phone completely changes when he falls down. And especially at 21:04 you see the stairs nearly double when he falls down them, only for them to go back to only 6 when you see them again
It must’ve have felt like such a long fall considering he was so fucked up but in reality it was only a few steps 😂
I wondered if Brandon had noticed that, I loved the steps shot so much.
Omg I went back and started cracking up all over again 😂😂
I never noticed that but it’s a genius touch.
I had some 714 experiences in my early 20’s, and I can confirm these are the effects of a super large dose. All you can do is get horizontal and wait. For hours. You also feel NO pain, which is why it’s typical to wake up with bruises and cuts. Caution is recommended.
Dicaprio’s performance here is master class. The boat scene with him and Jonah hill with the ludes is probably my favorite scene of all time Lol
Christoph Waltz’s opening scene in Inglorious Basterds and the ludes scene are hard for me to separate.
He was great in revenant but he deserved an Oscar even more for wolf.
When he opens the car door with his foot, I laugh until I cry every time.
I feel that way about the ludes country club scene. That sequence is one of my favs all time
leo is one of those people whom i enjoy watching in a movie but am ALWAYS hyper aware that it is him... his emoting is displayed the same in every role, you are always aware it is him and not someone else.... unlike someone like daniel day lewis or gary oldman, when i see them, i see the characters they play and not the actors...
leo is always the same guy
jordan belfort said that he was wayyyy more out of control in real life

He's so criminally underrated.

Hes reeeealy good, but ALL the praise??
Yea a lot of ppl don’t like Jonah, and i know he has a lot of personal issues, but he’s human and he’s an amazing actor. I’d love to see him & Leo come together again.
*In the last shot Scorcese turns the camera back on the audience* we stare back at ourselves and how we've enjoyed watching this and he's connecting that to how we idolize those who step on others to get to the top
Exactly. The point is we hate them, yet, want to be them, then kind of hate ourselves for wanting to be them.
Baa?
I thought the point was that the audience members looked like the orginal crew, and that everything was coming full circle.
You know, watching this makes me realize why this movie works and why Leo's other movie that year, The Great Gatsby doesn't.
Also how gullible people are to pay 300 trying to get rich quick which is another one of his scams but actually legal "its like selling people dreams for cash"
The ending is the real Jordan Belfort introducing Leonardo DiCaprio as his fictional self. The final shot is of the other main characters real selves watching Leo's fictional Jordan belfort have a seminar.
This was Margot Robbie's first movie. I've heard her say how intimidated she was to be doing scenes where she was screaming at Leo and that he and Scorsese had to help build her confidence up enough (or something more or less like that) until she was able to film them.
Breakout role. She truly is breathtaking. I think many people were shocked to learn she is from overseas (South Africa, I think). Totally nailed the Brooklyn accent!
@@andrewreisinger6860 Nah, she's an Aussie bruv. Her accent is pretty bang on for a Brooklyn chick tho.
@@KS-xk2so Margo Robbie, Toni Collette and Nichole Kidman are all Australian and for some reason they all seem to be able to nail different accents really well.
They would talk movies & She hadn’t seen a lot. Leo would tell her, you’ve got to see this!
Leo dating her irl probs helped lol
“I WILL NOT DIE SOBER!!”
That should’ve won Leo the Oscar right there.
A shame he lost to Matthew McConaughey.
Fun fact: nobody ever called him "The Wolf of Wall Street" irl, he made that up himself in his memoir.

The chest pounding McConaughey does is a pre-filming routine he does during a movie shoot. Leo’s look of confusion and looking around was him looking at the crew if this was really happening.
For real? 😂
Not exactly. Leo asked Matthew if he’d do it on film, so they worked it into Matthew’s character.

In the last shot the person who introduces Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort was the real life Jordan Belfort.
30:02 that's the real Jordan Belfort introducing Leo. Also, it says that Jordan's networth is NEGATIVE $100,000,000, but he travels around the world doing motivation speaking for $30k-$75K a pop.
One of Leo's most outstanding performances, for sure. So excited to see you react to this one!
Scorsese and DiCaprio, what a duo!
I love the pacing of this movie, it’s almost three hours but it flies by! Scorsese knows how to entertain.
“I love the writing”
Matthew mcconaughy winged 90% of that scene lol
One of the most entertaining movies ever
The real Jordan Belfort is the guy who introduces Leo at the very end of the movie.
The whole quaalude scene is one of the funniest moments ever 😂😂😂😂
I remember seeing this in this cinema and the whole audience was in stitches. Me and my friend almost fell off our seats laughing😂
All the wrestlers back in the day were taking that shit. Dangerous stuff.
My favorite is him passed out in the couch & the cops waking him up. Without blinking he’s like what the eff are you doing in my house?
The pace of this movie is insane which fits the personality of Jordan. Scorsese truly is brilliant with his directing.
The humming scene with McConaughey was improvised, that's actually a thing that he does before acting
And most of the dialogues in the movie were improvised too
Most of his dialogue in that scene was improvised too.
One word from this movie: HILFE!! 😂
STEVE MADDEN! STEEEEVE

"She's PERFECT!"
The Oscar Leo was robbed of. 😤
This movie is absolutely insane, but I think it will remain iconic for years! Leo’s performance can’t be faulted, amazing!
I remember the controversy at the time. There being no wolves init.
I love how It's the real Belfort who introduced Leo.
You should really see "The Big Short". Fantastic acting and takes a tough subject (the US housing market) and makes it relatable. Bale, Carell, Gosling, and others.
backing this comment, "The Big Short" is such an incredible film
Excellent; Margot Robbie also cameos
Oh yeah! The Big Short was surprisingly way better than I thought it would be
Love that movie
I like the joke that Matthew McConaughey, stopped by to pounds his chest and got his oscar for dallas buyers club! Lol
When he says “Wolf of Wall Street” the reddish building in the background is where Madoff ran his scheme. It’s called the lipstick building on 3rd avenue and 54th street.
never clicked so quick. my fave all time film reacted by my fave reactor
* Fun Fact*
When Matthew McConaughey beats his chest and hums in the lunch scene, that wasn’t scripted. That’s actually what he does as an acting exercise. They just decided to keep it in the movie.
There is NO WAY Brandon hasn't seen this movie. SO EXCITED!
Fun fact. Jordans first wife is played by The Mother from How I Met Your Mother
Well, now she is How I Divorced your mother in this movie.
Little Easter Egg: The guy at the very end introducing Leo in the Pen seminar was the real-life Jordan Belfort
Modern Classic, Masterpiece. Scorsese is Cinema! DiCaprio was absolutely perfect on this movie!
I love that he falls for quite a while down the stairs, but when you see them from another angle there's only a few steps
Aunt Emma is pretty famous British actress Joanna Lumley
And Jonah Hill comes across so lovely in real life which is a relief
2:35 The helicopter pilot is played by a very dear friend of mine and the nephew of the former governor of Connecticut Dan Malloy. This is Kerry Malloy. We acted together in community theater and we went to Westhill High School in my hometown of Stamford, CT. We did a production of Guys and Dolls. Kerry was Sky Masterson, I was Brannigan. But more notably we did a production of Evita. Kerry was Che and I was Juan Peron.
On December 21st, 2012 he emailed me this message that said “I met Mr. Scorsese the other day was lucky enough to work with him and I talked with him about you and what an amazing film buff you are. So yeah, Mr. Scorsese and I were talking about Sean Pultz.” The next thing I remember was me having a heart attack. It was quite a moment.
Jordan Belfort’s cellmate was Tommy Chong of Cheech & Chong, and encouraged him to write the book that the movie was based on
In a way, it's like the whole movie is an infomercial for his sales skills and the absurd lifestyle it promises. All leading up to his seminar in the final scene.

I love how Scorsese likes to show the cost of fame, money, drugs and all that stuff but never gets preachy about it and likes to have fun with it. This is a prime example about making a point of how something can negatively damage you while still showing the fun aspects of their life. More biopics these days should do this instead of getting over-indulged in the effects rather than the cause if that makes sense.
