The Mclovin scene is one of the greatest comedic exchanges in history
I mean it kinda is. Definitely a cultural milestone. I remember every one quoting this movie when it came out.
It is haha i love this movie.
Was such a big part of my life when i was alone like 24/7 365
I made something better.
Hello there.
Its like classic coke now
They really nailed the dialogue in regards to high school boys. Absolutely nailed it.
ya really captured my group of friends. we had more people but a couple were good at shittalking so we did a couple just found it funny but didnt some tried but sucked xd we didnt have the going to university drama but just that feeling of hanging out is the closest thing ive seen in a flick.
I made something better
@@maxwellflores9160 i really doubt it.
They were 13 when they started writing it.
@@shomershabbos6291 Nope. I have something. Wanna read it? I have the script
Fun fact, this story is actually based off the real childhood of Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, which is why the characters are called Seth and Evan.
I didn’t realize that until Seth had an interview with GQ
At the time this movie came out, I’ve only seen Seth at 40 year old virgin, so I didn’t know who he was
“My brother came all the way from Scottsdale, Arizona to be here tonight, and you’re not gonna sing for him?”
You sing..... and you sing good. Like a bird.
How did Mike Perry get in this comment section
Hey, don't make this weird. Just sing.
Its Jimmy's Brother.
As someone from Arizona I've always thought that this line was both extremely hilarious and random af 🤣
"These eyes , cry every night, for you " 😂😂 best part of the whole film
Absolutely the best part of the movie hahaha
*sniffs a line* " woow wow"
No it isn’t
@@lucyhbk well that's your opinion, this is mine
You sing.... and you sing good. Like a bird.
I can't get over this being 14 years old
lol this movie is old enough to be a freshman in highschool
I'm surprised it's only that old, in my mind that movie released 2002 or something
I feel old
Can still remember it being advertised at the cinema like it was yesterday, it doesn't seem to age though.
Aged like sweet wine
The scene toward the end when Seth is sleeping over at Evan's and they unroll the sleeping bags together always gets me. You can just tell that they've been best friends since they were little kids and have probably done dozens of sleepovers together.
@@kuhpunkt I feel like you two know each other. Are you guys going to have a sleepover, too?

The slow motion demise of the Gold Slick Vodka bottle!😆👍
It's a bit mind blowing when you realize that Jonah Hill is playing a young Seth Rogen 😂
Right. And Michael Cera is playing his shy awkward, behind the camera, friend that we never see on screen lol.

When I saw this in theatres, the period blood scene was hilarious because each person got the joke at a different time... one or two gasps and laughs eventually crescendos into the entire place dying in their seats
I've always loved that the cops confess that they know he's not 25 and immediatly say "we're not idiots Mclovin", like the obvious fake name still haven't figured it out
I'm sure they knew that wasn't his real name, but they didn't know his real name.
@@Joker_JAK I thought that too, but I like it the other way better
Top 10 comedy of all time. No debate. Truly iconic. Amazing script. Perfect casting. So goddamn funny and forever will be.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug

This really is a perfect comedy. A wide range of great characters, great acting and directing, and a screenplay with a multitude of unexpected moments. And comedy comes from the unexpected.
Imo also that it also has emotion for example the ending scene and the scene where the cops tell that they knew all along. So that it has absolutely amazing comedy it also has something else to offer shows this movies depth.
@@polopena3337 definitely, that's what makes it do special. One of the funniest comedies ever and an incredible movie with heartfelt characters and passionate writing. You know it's a good movie when the characters make you emotional comedically and sadly.
This is a great movie because you can never get tired of it
Yup my husband and I watch it at least once per month lmao no lie
In college i was nicknamed McLovin because i looked alot like him, i was a super skinny nerd, it was a great ice breaker talking to girls, everyone knew me.
I lived in New York City in 2007 and a friend once pretended not to recognize the McLovin actor so she could make out with him and forever more say that she made out with McLovin.
I had a shirt that said "I am McLovin on it" that was a big ice breaker. I was only in like 6th grade though so teachers were always like "why is this 11/12 year old wearing a Superbad shirt.."
bp51082 so she actually made out with McLovin?
@@262ultra the actor, Christopher Mintz-Plasse. They met at a party at a bar I believe, and she played it cool/dumb as far as who he was so she didn't seem like a groupie
*I really miss this era of comedies. This film, Pineapple Express, Step Brothers, 40 Year Old Virgin etc.. they don’t make movies like this anymore*
Because certain people are too sensitive for this kind of comedy 🙄
Ever seen Good Boys? That's hilarious.
@@Joker_JAK that movie was so bad I had to turn it off. Felt like a cheap kids version of Superbad. Those kids have no comedic talent at all. Not one of these kids compares to young jonah hill or any of the other.
@@ANationsHero I strongly disagree. I loved it and thought it was hilarious.
I wonder why. They were all by a simmilar group of people, simmilar cast. It was an effective type of comedy i dont knos why they stopped.
One of my fav moments is when the cops admit they knew he wasn’t 25yrs old. They wanted to be high school boys again, and prove to themselves that they still had it in them to be fun
I saw this in the theatre 11 times. I loved it so much. Looking back I see it's a great movie, but I don't know why I spent $150 (plus another $100 or so for friends and family) on tickets and then $25 for DVD and another $25 for blu-ray. In total I've spent about $300 on this movie. Like what the heck man lol. It came out the year i graduated from high school so it hit pretty hard. Thanks for the nostalgia boost and realizing all the money I wasted! 😅

Emma Stone's first movie role, Michael Cera's first movie role, and Jonah Hill's first starring role, as well as some of Bill Hader and Seth Rogen's first film roles. Christopher Mintz-Plasses very first time acting! This movie was like the Willy Wonka golden ticket for film careers.

Strange fact: The mom of the actor who plays Fogel had to be on set during his bedroom scene. He was not yet 18 and the law called for this. Must have been awkward as hell for him - and his mom.
I remember watching this in the theatre with my best friend. We got drunk and laughed our asses off. Good times. A total suprise hit.
Every decade has it's best party/coming of age movies, Animal House, Porky's, Zapped, Revenge of the Nerds, Up in Smoke, Dazed and Confused, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, How High, Risky Business, Weird Science, Best Little Whorhouse in Texas,, Little Darlings, all those collage age gems we couldn't watch at 13 unless we had a connection. 😂

I liked your thoughts before viewing about Seth Rogen acting in this. He actually co-wrote the movie with his childhood best friend and current writing partner, Evan Goldberg. They started writing it in the 90's when they were teenagers in Vancouver BC. It's why the main characters are named Seth and Evan.

You should watch the bloopers and table reads from the Superbad cast. They’re hilarious as well. Definitely one of the better comedies of the 2000s.
Man, I'm so happy you watched this
You should definitely react to “21 Jump Street” another great comedy with Jonah Hill
Yes! What a great surprise! This is a great comedy. Had to write this before even seeing your reaction. 😃
This was actually the very first writing collaboration from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg which kickstarted their professional partnership and they went on to write, direct and produce many movies and tv shows together (This Is The End, The Interview, The Boys, Invincible). They are actually highschool friends and Superbad is partly based on their own experiences and the two main protagonists even inherited their given names, Seth and Evan.
This is one of the best comedies ever made. But as a teenager, that ending is terrifying. I'm not ready to accept the reality that my friends will move on with their lifes without me
Unfortunately it happens. When I was younger I always thought “haha no way no way me and my best friend are ever going to be apart. Best friends stay together forever.” and as we got older we had less and less time until one day we just.. stopped hanging out. Life got in the way and took us on different paths. But at least you will always have those fond memories to look back on.
Though this was leon lush
Funniest movie for me, shit never gets old. As someone who’s almost 28 friends splitting up and moving on without you really does suck, I wish I could go back to being in high school, Junior and senior year for me were glorious, just partying and hanging out with friends 100% of the time.
I just realized I've never seen Brandon below shoulder level. Are we sure he even has a body off camera? Or is he just the living embodiment of quality content?
Never thought about that but i do want to see how bald he is without that cap
He's a vtuber
I think I've seen him in one of his earliest videos.

We need your reaction from Animal House (1978) , is one of the spiciest comedies about house parties . A true classic !
I'm old, so I rarely think newer comedies are as funny as the "classics". This one was, and after 14 yr (holy sheet) this one can be considered a classic as well.
Oh shit such a classic movie watch it every few months
I went to see this movie with a girl on a first date.
We've been married for 11 years. Coincidence?
So you wouldn’t consider your relationship to be Superbad?
Dude me too! Except for the whole married part lol

i was 17 when this movie came out. perfect timing. this movie is literally my senior year of high school
I made something, a new superbad.
If you enjoy the Jonah Hill/Emma Stone dynamic, I highly recommend their mini series "Maniac". Its bizarrely entertaining.
It’s so funny seeing Brandon hear anything sex related. His blushing & awkwardness is adorable lol.
I was a senior in high school when this movie came out. This film was a highlight of my late teenage years. It was so quotable and left me so many memories. I still remember watching this in a cheap movie theater, laughing my arse off with my best friends.
Another great comedy from the early 2000s is "Old School"

Not sure if you saw but this was actually written by Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg. From wiki- “the script began development when they were 13 years old, and was loosely based on their experience in Grade 12 at Point Grey Secondary School in Vancouver during the 1990s”.
This has been my most enjoyable reaction from you dude and I'm not even finished yet.. 11 minutes in and I've had to rewind your reactions like three times because I can't help but crack up
Not to say your reactions are enjoyable I literally watch you like five days a week
6:18 If you watch the outtakes, they actually had to shoot that boob punch like 20 times because Michael Cera is such a shy nice guy he kept pulling his punches. They had to like assure him it was okay.
P.S. There's a slew of movies with this type of comedy. 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, This is 40, I Love You Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, etc.
I can't believe you hadn't see this before, lmao. Movie is a riot.

70s had Grease, but then the 70s also had disco, 80s had Fast Times, 90s had American Pie, 2000s had Superbad. You can usually tell how old someone is by their favourite high school comedy. Mine is Fast Times.
You forgot The Wanderers
Have you seen "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"? Jonah Hill has a pretty funny role in that. The entire cast is top notch.
Great movie, very underrated.
I remember seeing this movie in the theatre the year after I graduated high school. Their portrayal of high school friendships and drama (while sometimes totally exaggerated lol) is so spot on. I just remember everyone in the theatre laughing so hard and having a great time watching. So much fun!
If you loved this movie you're also gonna love Booksmart. It's basically a parallel story but with girls, including Jonah Hill's sister
This movie came out when I was 13 and I watched it every day with my best friend for probably a year. My sense of humor is based around the jokes in this movie lmao
You are the king of reaction videos! Go Brandon go!
Seth and Evan are actually based on the writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and they first began working on the script at 13. By the time they were able to make the movie, Seth Rogen was too old to play Seth, so he played one of the cops instead.
Omg so cool. I love this guys
This movie was my actual childhood just trying to get booze and goin to strangers parties and shit with my best bro and our third wheel friend.
The scene where they are in the store and seth casually asks Evan to buy him a drink felt so genuine like they weren’t acting 🤣
In the menu screen on the DVD Michael Cera danced for like three hours straight just so it didn't loop
...except it DOES loop! Every three hours!
the actor who played Fogell was also in Kickass
Future recommendations: Pineapple Express and This is the End. In This is the End, Michael Cera plays the opposite of his usual characters. The movie was 85% improved, and he had to be talked into it.
This is the End is one of those movies where the actors play themselves--but jerk versions of themselves.
This is the End almost made me pass out from laughter when I saw it in theaters.
@@Kylopod like they do literally play themselves, the movie is about Hollywood stars during the end of the world
This movie was written by Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg about their high school experience...they actually started writing it in high school. So Jonah Hill and Michael Cera are based on the 2 of them.
This was a summer blockbuster that year, back when comedies could actually be blockbusters (Iron Man came out the next year).
