just bought a BUNCH of pairs on these on sale. They feel great. Hi top, low top, canvas, leather, suede. They all rule! Basically a Chuck Taylor made into the ultimate skate optimized version, with some nice tweaks!
Got the Lilac 002 and the chocolate 003 hi’s from drop 8. Gonna skate the 3s and keep the 2s for everyday wear. Haven’t gotten to skate the 3s much but there seems to be more room in the heel, and the sole is much stiffer than previous LRs I’ve worn.
I mean, I know you want to support your own but, if your own do that for a hobby, they should know better than ANYONE what works and what doesn't. Granted, chef has his own personal tastes so what..... Crap, what's his name..... The cocky British guy, I don't care cause he's a jerk, but what he figures of top of the line 5 star taste could be crap to someone, and then what? My point is this, if they're skaters and they're marketing a shoe, they should know that, that's what they do or they're in the wrong business. Maybe they can point out what sux in a shoe but not have the skills to know how to fix it or better design it. If Vans makes a better shoe and they're cheaper, then they make a better shoe, plain and simple, it's just fact, ya go with what works. You want a durable shoe that's affordable and Vans can do that and take care of you, they're in the right business, they have your back, stick with them. Truth be told, if the motto is: "Don't use you're own product" then they're pros at that. You may be wearing Vans, but whose the bigger sellout? They all are rocking Nike SBs. What does Nike know about skating? They're a basketball shoe that Reebok came in to unseed. Reebok even blew Nike out of the water. Steve Race acknowledges the price of shoes doesn't determine the quality, it's brilliant marketing to disguise it as a top shoe when really it's doesn't provide any real benefit at all, Reebok at the time could just market better than Nike, and then Nike caught on to their gimmicks and marketing style and developed their own gimmicks. It's all marketing and money to buy off big names or idols to hock your brand. But, if Vans are taking care of you, man. Then they're doing it right, they've got you and that's where your loyalty lies. That's not corporate b.s., you don't have to be anti-establishment, if it's good and they're taking care of you, then rock it!
this "the walking billboard" things do not matter though if the brands can push the creativity to have playfulness on the design aspect of the logo etc, it's unavoidable for brands to always put some logos, otherwise it's just illustration and it's kind of boring, as long as they make it right it's okay, for me at least.
@@tracphonevirtualmagazine I understand that, for example, look at the dress shoes, it's kind of boring isn't it? at least for me. I'm a designer for a living, for me as long as they are creative enough to use their logos as a decorative element or whatever visual effect, or conscious enough to use the design thinking process it is fine. I do hate it if they kind of just slap in the logos on their product there without reason or just for the sake of brandings, seems lazy, it should have a purpose.
I’ve skated them. They’re just sort of OK in my opinion. They’re fine. Personally, I think Vans Half Cabs are better, and cheaper. Plus, I like being able to switch out the insole and the version three is still a pain in the ass in that regard. Try them out though if you’re inclined. This is just my opinion.

@Mick Lu I haven't skated the Gammas

that air out onto that rock looks sooooo cool !
I really love their shoes.
My favourite model they’ve made so far is definitely the Vm003

Dude you’re getting so much better at skating. Makes me hopeful going into my 30s
Thanks homie!
I’m hyped for Chris Millics pro model
Nice review. well done
What do you guys think of the quality of the vm003 compared to the Converse Cons CTAS?
I think those are drop 7 they might look similar but i'm thinking the color way makes it number 8
1:06 flip tricker 🤣😂
Does the vm003’s tread wear down as fast as the previous models? If not how long did the tread for the vm003 last you?
I have them and they don't last very long on the bottom tread
I really like the style of their shoes, I'd probably get some if I ever see them on sale.
I can't justify the £78-£88 they want at retail price.
get them second hand i got a pair for 20 pound which is fairly good ik its abit more in dollars but cant be bothered to look it up
Do they all fit the same? Suede vs canvas, 001 vs 003
003 fits more true to size
Where’s that first spot ?
VM1s look so much better than VM3 imo. I like the seamless look more.

I already bought the shoe do I need to advertise too. That's the mentality behind the statement.

Vans Wavees is what I think are the best skate shoe ever. Waffle cup.
