The beggars I hand feed won't touch fruit. Bread, honey, honey on bread. After a lot of trying I got them on to grapes but after a year not feeding them grapes I tried again and I seemed to have lost a lot of the originals and only one would eat a grape, and I had to bite it open for it. They are sticking to bread.
Hi Graham, welcome back and thanks for sharing your experience 👍 It's interesting how different birds have their own preferences. We've noticed that too. Our lorikeets love grapes and apples so we don't giving them bread or seeds. We often have to cut grapes in half, especially for the younger ones, to make it easier for them to eat.

Thank you for your lovely comment! 😊 Yes, lorikeets are such friendly birds. We've experimented with feeding them various fruits including watermelons, but they seem to prefer grapes and apples. Occasionally, we also give them a commercially available lorikeet mix.
