This was heartwarming to hear that the one legged cockatoo was still alive and having visited you before and like you said, amazing that she's still alive with only having one leg 😯 She's so beautiful and brave to be there after all of the hassle that she gets from the other birds jealous treatment of her ! This was adorable and I loved the footage of her on the clothes line. Those lorikeets are beautiful but naughty ! Its so good that you have these beautiful birds roaming freely in your country. A one-legged cockatoo! How did he lose his leg? Such a loss also shows how strong and resilient this bird is.

#30 Hello my friend, it amazes me how Birds and Animals cope when missing a leg. I have seen a 3 legged Fox... no doubt caught in a snare and somehow tearing its leg off to be free! But coping absolutely fine. However, with so many other Cockatoos around and with food always wanted, I imagine it is that much harder to nip in quick and grab what you can. Better balanced birds would no doubt be stronger in 'the scrum'. I love how she stands her ground and isn't intimidated by others. I imagine it is the same bird from last year, same leg missing. That Lorikeet is so aggressive too! We have a rescue here at home: 'Pixies Wildlife Rescue' so we have had a few birds in with manky feet, especially Pigeons, some with legs amputated with fishing line, or twine, or manky from standing in their own poo etc.... but they also survive. Another great watch my friend, thank you. 👍◕‿◕

Is it near Campbelltown by any chance? Our neighbour who lived here for nearly 50 years (recently moved away) had a little group of 4-5 cockatoo friends that he was feeding & entertaining regularly for at least a decade (likely longer). He mentioned one had a missing foot. I think the very tame cockatoos that visit us daily may be inherited from him, but we haven't seen one with a missing foot, so it must have gone somewhere else

That's a fascinating story! We're in the North-West, very far from Campbelltown. While it's not impossible the one-legged cockatoo visiting us is one of the same ones your neighbor befriended, it's unlikely - unless her entire flock moved north. Our one-legged friend arrives from the east, where there's a large bush area. Thanks again for your always interesting and thoughtful comments!
