What a world we live in where we can experience glorious musical fusion like this via the joy of the Internet! A beautiful Desi gal dancing and piping up a storm, then whipping out an equally beautiful singing voice in the middle of it? Sign me up! Good job, Miss Archy, and high regards from the glorious state of Texas!
It's a celebration of the Pakistani and Indian invasion of Scotland for welfare and free houses. While the stove Scottish die on the streets waiting on housing list.
Conceptually, this feels very similar to dipping fries in icecream. Two nice things that i'd never in a million years think to combine, how the hell could this ever be any good? And yet somehow it not only works, it turns out it's an absolutely fantastic combination.
Lol ..... PEANUT BUTTER WITH A TOUCH OF SALT ...... I thought I was a MIXED UP CHILD ........... I'll admit I'm FROM SCOTTISH HISTORY ...... CLAN SUTHERLAND AND BRITTISH ARISTOCRACY ....... CASTLE ........... trace my blood and REALISE HOW MUCH MORE I NEED THESE COLLABORATIONS
It's actually not that uncommon in Scotland! There are many Scottish people of Asian heritage and Scotland is a big melting pot, so the cultures just mix. But then again we also invented "deep fried Mars bars" and "deep freid pizza", so some fusions are less heart-attacky than others, to be fair. Seriously, though, I have to say that this is simply the best musical thing with pipes and Asian drums, that I have seen yet! I even missed Scotland a wee bit... :/ Thanks to all involved. This was excellently done!
Of course! There's a common heritage from the ancient steppes of Eurasia. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin loved to blend the two traditions. He met Ravi Shankar before Ravi was 'cool' in the UK.
I've heard a few renditions of Toss the Feathers before, but this is absolutely the most unique. I love the way you fuse Irish music with your Indian heritage, it's always so beautiful
Greetings from Scotland You give a whole new meaning to "Pipes and Drums" Archy! Such a beautiful fusion sound! This always works so well! Nobody can take two ancient instruments and make them sound so cool and brand new like you do! Thank you! 😊😊😊😊👏👏👏👏👏👏
This is a perfect example of why "culture appropriation" arguments are stupid. It's the blending and sharing of our cultures that make this gem possible and people like these that create the things that inspire future generations to be creative. Absolutely beautiful to listen to and watch.
@@lizzmilNope, sorry the term culture appropriation is racist in it's self. It's claiming no one, but those born into it can become a part it without "taking it over". You can't take over 1000+ of cultural development. It's not even possible.
LOVE the energy! The marriage of two different music styles couldn't have been done better! *edit* If you went on tour with Bloodywood (an Indian metal band); I'd pay ridiculous amounts of money to see y'all live!
There are huge amounts of similarity between the ancient Celtic and the ancient Indian cultures, to the point that scholars have used Vedic literature to understand some of the odder points of medieval Irish law. So this is sort of a family Indo-European reunion, and I find it delightful for that... But much more for the intrinsic excellence of the performances and concept.
Much respect to the Snake Charmer!!!! I love seeing my Celtic Culture celebrated by our Indian friends! Beautiful music mix of our cultures! I love u all!!!!
I first heard this tune nearly 40 years ago on the Horslips album The Táin - a track called Sword of Light. I can't begin to say how overwhelmed I am now listening to the Bhangra version! Tradition IS Fusion!
Music is the pathway to many abilities some find unnatural. Music is a language of its own with regions being their own dialect and genres being different countries speaking the same language with differences
Humanity used to be all one people. That's why the musica of the world work so well together. Although we have forgotten peace, our music's will never forget their harmonies.
Toss the Feathers is one of the most dance-able Irish songs ever. And you? You just turned it up WAY past 11, Archy. Holy hells. How can you not dance to this? (My kiddo couldn't stop dancing. Neither could I.) Such an amazing fusion of cultures, and your vocals/lyrics are so hauntingly beautiful. You keep outdoing yourself.
The ancients movement both eastwards and northwards is truly is truly reunited here - brilliantly orchestrated - absolutely amazing - I thankyou all🥰🥰🥰
Archy, that was awesome! I think the world needs the Celtic-Punjabi genre of music to go wide. I hadn't watched any of your videos on quite a while and that was a great reminder of the talent, energy, and creativity you and your associates put into you projects. Loved it.
I really enjoyed that. I have always loved bagpipe music. Then I got the chance to live and work in Mumbai for 4 years. Some of the best times of my life. Indian music is very diverse and incredible. Thanks for your music.
Yes, let me also mention what effect positive music has on all creatures... my cat came running downstairs to see when she heard this... she loves good music and women's voices. She makes me feel like Snow White when I sing... you should feel extra nice too 🎵🎶🐈💖💖💖🍀🍀🍀 also I am of Norse, Celtic, and Native American descent so love the mix of music.
Musicians are ambassadors and explorers of culture. They take a little bit of this and a little bit of that and they create something brand new as we are seeing in this video

What a glorious blending of cultures from half a world apart. Music is truly universal and those who cry "cultural appropriation" are pitied because the joining of people from different lands only reinforces our humanity. Well done, Archy. I love you and your music!
I just stumbled on your channel, this was the first video I saw. I'm of Scottish descent and have loved bhangra for years--I had no idea I needed this in my life. My son and I were getting chills. You are amazing!
The rhythm of this song blows in the head, take your brain and shake it up dancing! Amazing performance! Same common Indo-European origin. The family homecoming party.
