I’ve got Stihls biggest power head with a pole saw attachment and extension. Not sure how heavy it is but it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I find myself using it in sketchy situations where I’m not for sure how the downed tree I’m cutting is going to react with the cut I’m making. Gives me a few extra steps if I need to evacuate the area!😆 Love that hook on the blade of that first one. Shows me that whoever designed it actually uses one! Great video Tony! Take care!👍🏻
Rod I agree the pole saw is invaluable when working on a downed tree with a lot of limbs. Like you pointed out those couple extra second to get out of the way of a falling branch make a difference.
See ya at Hoosier Hysteria next month!

Nice review of pole saws Tony. I have a Stihl pole saw that I love (hard for me to admit as a diehard Husqvarna guy 😂). I’m very impressed with the current line of Echo saws… they have come a long way.
Ha ha Dick I’m surprised you didn’t scorch your hands by touching the other orange saw😂😂
Regardless of the brand , any of the gas powered pole saws are worth their weight in gold when working on overhead branches/limbs.
Hope you’re doing well.

Tony, Great video
That saw looks like it would be handy to have around the homestead. Thank you for making this video
Mike I’m glad you enjoyed the video.

Very good video my old best friend!
I’m glad you didn’t deforest my trees last time you tried the pole saw in my Woodyard.
I had to wait two years for the trees to grow limbs!

“Young man’s Saw” for sure! Made my shoulders hurt just watching 🤣 I wish I would have had one back when I was really into bow hunting. Spent a lot of time cussing the manual pole saw🤣 Nice tutorial Tony. Take care👊🏻
Ha ha we both spent a lot of time cursing the junky pole saw but we made it work. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Another job well done, some fine info today.
Three different teachers have emphasized,
Never cut above your shoulders with a chain saw.
But
Those with many years experience do it daily on a regular basis.
Polesaws for the once a year user are most definitely the better option.
Jean, I’m glad there are many options depending on your needs, budget and skill level.

I pruned 3000 white pines with a fully extended Echo pole saw identical to yours. To support it, I bought an expensive Sthil universal advance harnest. I made it, but I couldn't work for more than 4 hours a day because, as you said, I'm not a young man anymore and I didn't want to hurt myself.
Daniel, I purchased multiple third part harness and still find myself using upper body muscles to work the saw.
I applaud you, 3000 while pines is a huge undertaking. I think I’m good for about 45 min to an hour before I have to quit.

Great video Tony! Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and have a great day…
Glad you enjoyed the video.

I use a Stihl Kombi tool that has a pole saw, trimmer, round cutter blade, and a power scythe. I bought a third party harness that suspends the weight from both of my shoulders. This makes the weight more tolerable. As always, a very informative video and, if I did not already have a pole saw, I would be spending more money soon! I have purchased quite a few labor saving tools after seeing them so wonderfully demonstrated.
Dennis, sounds like you really enjoy that Kombi kit and have multiple uses for it.
They really are awesome.

Something I need to add to the fleet. Great video Tony!
Bobby, it’s like all your welding equipment. Each tool has a purpose and makes your job easier.
The pole saw though heavy is an awesome addition to harvesting firewood.

Love your videos Tony. If you are ever in Ohio, stop in. I never tried a pole saw, but on that big down tree, it sure looks a lot safer.
James, a wouldn’t be without a pole saw in the woods. It’s extremely handy for many jobs.

I have had my echo power pruner for about 20 years and it has been well worth the money. I also bought it with the extra 4 foot extension pole. When that is on, you will really get workout. I do not use the extension often, but it has been invaluable in the rare cases that I need it.
I can’t imagine adding a 4’ extension, the standard pole saw is a challenge to use and wipes me out after about 45 min to an hour of use. You’re a better man than me!
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Thanks Tony, i use both manual and 2 stroke pole saws and they both are valuable tools. Take care.
Mark, just another tool in your arsenal to help you with tree trimming/prunning.

Hey Tony! Love my pole saw, it sure is handy👍👍
Jeremiah no arguments here, the pole saw definitely is a life saver.

Tony, how are you doing. Another informative video. You definitely hit that right , that the saw is a young man’s saw. I have a Stihl version and it is very hard to get support from the harness. You definitely won’t run that saw most of the day. More like 20 minutes rest, 20 minutes rest, 10 minutes and com back the next day. Take care Al
Al I agree it’s a young man's saw. Like you, I can only do maybe a half hour of cutting before I have to put it down and rest.
I purchased multiple different harnesses that supposedly going to make the job easier but it’s just brute force that gets the job done.
Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
I’ve been using the Sthil gas powered Combi system for years now. It’s hard to beat as I use many of the other attachments that you can purchase. The pole saw especially with the extension will give you a workout.
Richard the Kombi kits are awesome and open a variety of jobs you can do without buying a dedicated tool for each task.

Great video once again. Be safe, Tony!
Al, glad you enjoyed the video.

I had to chuckle when you mentioned that the gas powered pole saw is a “young man’s” saw. They do get heavy when in use! I had a Stihl a few years ago and wasn’t happy with the weight and fatigue it caused. I currently have the Milwaukee Quik-lok pole saw (with the 3 foot extension for higher reach). I also have a few other attachments for it. Works great! Nice demonstration Tony!
Shane, pretty much any long pole saw is going to wear you out. Those Milwaukee 18v tools are awesome if you occasionally trim/prune branches but with my property and the trees I take down I need a little more power. The gas pole saws definitely wear me out.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Nice demonstration Tony. I have a cheap pole saw thats manual powered and it does great for me.
Daniel not everyone needs a gas or battery powered pole saw. I used the manual pole saw for more than 20 years before upgrading to a gas model.

Hi Tony - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I've had that Echo polesaw for a number of years but it hasn't seen a huge amount of work. It is certainly heavy, particularly as I broke my shoulder blade in 97 and undercuts do exacerbate the issue. The one enhancement I would value is an ability to adjust the blade to be parallel to the ground.
@@rodneysweetnam8653 Rodney good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you broke your shoulder blade. Since you own one of those pole saws I don’t have to tell you they definitely are a workout.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I also like a pole saw when working out of a bucket and especially for invasive species removal like Honeysuckle or thickets.👍
I’ve not done much work in a bucket because pole saw is so heavy. The tree service guys have the hydraulic pole saws which are lighter and more powerful.
Unfortunately no one rents those.

Nice saw Tony
Larry glad you enjoyed the video.
Any of the pole saws make my overhead cutting easier and safer.

Fantastic review Tony, I'm in the market for a pole saw thanks for the info.
Michael, I’m sure you’ll be happy with any of the major brands.
Glad you enjoyed the video.

Hi Tony!!😀😀
The Echo pole saw seems quite underpowered. My Stihl and my Husky pole saws have lots more power and I'm sure are quite a bit lighter. But I'm sure they are more expensive.
Take care buddy!!😀😀💚💚

Use my 16' fiskars pole saw for just about everything, high branches, removing vines, pulling branches out of tree line, and most of all extended out and sliding it along the ground to trim brush at ground level without bending over.
I have to agree the 16’ Fiskars pole saw is the go to saw for trimming & pruning in high places.
Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
I have the Fiskars 16’ pole saw and it is amazing! I also have the Echo PAS 2620 X series with all the attachments and that pro series power head is awesome compared to my old Home Depot Echo PAS power head which was a bit underpowered for some of the attachments.
Brian, that 16’ Fiskars pole saw is an awesome piece of equipment to have on hand. Sounds like you’re all set for trimming and pruning projects. I’m sure family and friends know who to come to when they need to borrow tools.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Hey Tony , I have one that has the different attachments . I also have the Fiskars !! 👍🏻🇺🇸
Del, sounds like you’re set for overhead cutting.
They definitely make the job go easier and safer.

I have the same polesaw and it’s one of my favorite tools. I bought the 4 foot extension, and I can tell you I have to take frequent breaks, as it can get really unwieldy at 16 feet.
Wow I can only imagine how exhausting it must be working with a full extended saw. I can bearly handle the 12’.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Thanks for the info Tony. I'm looking into getting a pole saw for our trail maintenance. I'm thinking I will have to invest in one since Brittany is getting tired of having to shimmy up the trees to get the higher up branches. 😅
Frances I’m surprised you guys don’t have a gas powered pole saw. We find it invaluable at the hunting property for trimming both roadway and shooting lanes for hunting..
Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
@TonysCoolTools We did purchase a stihl FS90 trimmer last year that accepts a blade. It works great for cutting brush and samplings. Maybe they make a pole saw attachment for it, I will check into it.
Frances I’d check with your Stihl dealer to see if any of their Kombi attachments will work.👍TCT @@bfoutdooradventures

Pole saws are nice. I may need to get one someday.
I’m surprised that BCC enterprises dosesnt have one yet. However it’s understandable since you can’t shimmy up the trees😂

@TonysCoolTools It's on the list to go with my video for this upcoming Wednesdays video.
Good video Tony, and I don't mean to change the topic, but I will anyway LOL. I'm just curious, are you ever going to do a video on the Pfanner helmet? We've talked about it before, and you said that you were planning on it, but unless I've missed something, I haven't seen one on it yet. I'd love to see one on that. Have a good rest of your week!
Jeff glad you enjoyed the video. As far as the Pfanner helmet, I still have it on my to do list to make a video.

The pole saw is next on my list. My debate is gas powered or battery powered. Any experience with the battery powered pole saws? Thanks Tony
Mike with the property/woods you have gas is the only way to go.
However if you only plan to use it occasionally the battery tool would be fine.
Once you get a gas or battery pole saw you’ll wonder how you’ve lived without one.
