  • Received new Zebralight headlamp, and putting a battery in it for the first time revealed it was totally inoperative.
Surprised, it's the first time I've had any flashlight, from the cheapest to expensive, that was completely dead right out of the box, and the last one I expected to have this problem, as I've generally had a high regard for these.
Bought it for a spare because it was reduced in price from Zebralight, but maybe quality control to check for the defective ones prior to shipping is not in place.
Requested a return label from Zebra, and they mailed one out, which was used to return the light for exchange. The replacement works just fine, so hopefully it was just an isolated incident.
The light ordered by a coworker took a long time in shipment for some reason but was fine when received-

I think the battery doesn't fit.

It's a standard 18650 battery and spring loaded, so it actually can accommodate a wide variation in size such as with protected and unprotected cells.
As it turns out, Zebralight was able to get a replacement to me after returning the defective one to them, and it's working just fine. I'm chalking it up as a isolated defect; those things happen with electronics. But it really could easily have been stopped at the factory with a quick test though.
I recommended it to a coworker, who should be getting it shortly. Hopefully he'll have no problems.
