    @Gyro Gaming thank you for creating this videos and I am on your site. My first game with Gyro Aiming was the upcoming free 2 play title Enlisted on Playstation 5. This game allows the usage of "Gyro-Aiming" natively and it works great. Because I enjoyed that so much I also tried other titles on PC because on Playstation there aren't many titles available that support Gyro-aiming on "shooter / first person shooter" natively.
    I am also a big Battlefield fan, so I suggest the implanation of Gyro-aiming for Battlefield 2042.
    I did this on the german offical EA answers forum aswell on the english EA answers forum. While on the english one I didn't explained well at least for the moment, I was successfull on the german one so that an EA Community Manager approved it and will send it as feedback directly to the Developers.
    Why is that important?
    It is important because if huge games like Battlefield will offer such things, Gyro Aiming will become more and more accessible in games in general even on console. It's also important because Crossplay becomes more and more available in games so it is a good way to reduce the gap between "mouse-aiming" and "controller-aiming" by the implemantation of "stick+gyro-aiming".

    Ive been loving the increased love towards Gyro Aim the last couple years. Definitely needs to be fully embraced on console. I love it so much.
    The one thing i commonly see for players that turn away from gyro aim is the "motion sickness" or the fact they are jittery when holding the controller. An idea i had that could be interesting to help remedy this is the implementation of "Deadzones" in gyro aiming.
    The way I would look into creating this is based on similarities to dpi on mice for PC. Gyro aiming is similar to those "ball" mice where you rotate a ball to look around except now youre holding that ball in your hands directly. Make a setting so that the first amount of "dots" in dpi are considered the "deadzone." In other words, you have to move the controller beyond that deadzone to actually get the cursor to move on screen. It does not need to be much--literally on the 360 degree plane, just make the first 2% a deadzone. Just enough to curb out maybe 50% of the jitterness that players have with motion controls but not noticeable when players need to actually aim with gyro.
    Now controllers dont have a "base" point to go back to like analog sticks do. So this deadzones relative location would be updated periodically. For example, every 1 second when the controller is in a close to stationary position, the deadzone sets itself in the 3D world the controller exists in. It could also be fine tuned to have the deadzone work individually per x, y, and z axis-- in other words if a player is very slightly moving up with gyro aim, x-axis deadzone kicks in to prevent left and right jitters.
    Of course, in fast paced games like Halo, these deadzones would not be active all to often since a player is most likely continuously moving. But take a game like Days Gone (that has Gyro Aim) where you are sniping a very long distance, that minor deadzone implementation could help players become more steady on very fine aiming.
    Again, the deadzone application only needs to be very minor. Literally 1 to 2 degrees around the controllers' center point is all that needs to be as a deadzone to probably take out 50% of those jitters.
    Whats your thoughts?

    • @JibbSmartGD
      @JibbSmartGD  2 года назад +1

      The motion sickness issue is a good call-out. Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I personally strongly dislike deadzones. They take away important responsiveness. It's still good to provide the option, but here are some other options games can also provide:
      1. Tightening - a threshold below which sensitivity is pushed down towards zero;
      2. Soft tiered smoothing - smoothing that only applies to small movements without slowing down quick intentional movements.
      Both of these are explained in more depth on GyroWiki

    • @BJgobbleDix
      @BJgobbleDix 2 года назад +1

      @@JibbSmartGD ooh interesting. Those are good. Ive been loving yours and some of the other gyro using youtuber videos. Theyve been very well done. I really hope it starts taking off! Been messing with it in Days Gone and The Last of Us 2 on PS5. Far from perfect in those games (sensitivity is way too low for my taste along with some other nuisances) but its still 100x better than stick aiming. And i would say im quite good at most shooters on console so that really tells me something if it feels like a major upgrade lol. Just wished a popular PvP game had it to practice with on PS5 outside of Paladins.
      But the intuitive feedback from gyro aiming reminds me so much of when i use to play on PC a lot. Hoping to see the "re-release" of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 incorporate a decent Gyro Aim option.
      Also, have you tested gyro aim with "drive-by shooting" styles on GTA? Curious to see how solid controlling a vehicle while aiming to shoot would be. Theoretically, i would think it would be superior to Keyboard and Mouse since you get the best of stick driving plus aiming from the mouse put into 1 package.
      Anyways, keep up the hard work! Hope to see this method of aiming explode for the new method of controls.

    0:15 yeah that was a lie + they never fixed the switch version, the developers did you dirty, unlucky, please don't support this game guys, the gyro drifts because there's no kind of calibration (it's really bad drift too, I'd rather have smoothing like in Splatoon), and the flick stick is forced at the outer ring and jitters a lot, so if you like to rotate the stick, then you're sol

    • @JibbSmartGD

      They did fix the Switch version, only in the last few months, though, I think. I haven't encountered the drift you're talking about -- which is lucky for me, I guess. Hopefully the devs will be open to some kind of calibration solution.
      Rotating the stick has worked fine for me, but it's been a while since I've played it. I don't mind a little jitter, but it's certainly better to smooth that out with small/slow rotations.

      @@JibbSmartGD yeah I know the issues aren't a big deal but for how prestigious the game is supposed to be, those little things can't fly imo, they're just being lazy. And they said they won't fix the drift because gyro isn't as good as mouse so it's bottom priority

    • @JibbSmartGD
      @JibbSmartGD  2 года назад +1

      @@idkrossplay Yeah, where did they say that?
      The game is a big deal because there is some really basic stuff that up until last year almost no one was getting right. To have a sensitivity scale with good range, resolution, and meaningful numbers was basically unheard of. To have a gyro off button that isn't tied to a specific aim mode was brand new as far as I know. And I've been asking devs to do those absolute basics for ages.
      And native flick stick months before any other game did it is obviously a big deal.

      @@JibbSmartGD I asked Sam when he was streaming when they planned to fix the drift on the gyro, that's when he told me. I don't remember his exact words but it was something like "gyro and flick stick is cool for gamepads but it still isn't as good as mouse, that's why we have a 'balanced for controller' difficulty. Because of that, fixing gyro is at the bottom of our priorities"
      They only got all those things right because you asked them to add all of it, and I'm pretty sure they only agreed so you would advertise their game. I'd consider if they asked you for help but I know they probably didn't since they don't even care about the gyro controls
