Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May were the best hosts hands down.

I barely even noticed that the dude sitting beside Matt was there and, if it wasn't for the fact that I know Matt from FRIENDS, I probably wouldn't have noticed him either.
I love Mock The Week so I watched this. The whole time I'm watching I'm picturing a BBC boardroom with executives sitting around a table, trying to fill Clarkson, Hammond and Mays shoes. Then the accountant chimes in by saying: "hey I know how we can have a new Top Gear AND save money... Let's order the show on the Wish app!"

Possibly because they frequently trashed Clarkson on "Mock the Week"? But a Clarkson-v-O'Briain snark-off would be epic in its awesomeness.
the rivalry is a bit over the top but it's not looking good if the guests outfun the hosts. it's still a good show but there were better times.
No No, that is not overacted. Much. They really are mostly like that around each other.
They are comedians who often work together and also best friends in real life.
There's always a bit of friendly competition between two friends and when you combine that with two gifted professional comedians you get this.
It's not over the top because at no point are they truly trying to convince us they care all that much, you can see from the getgo that it is all in good jest.
Watch interactions between the two in Mock the Week, they always love to make fun of each other and their adventures a little bit.
It's so weird to see actually funny people on Bad Top Gear
I actually think it’s brilliant how Joey from Friends and Chris let Dara and Ed have the spotlight their way. LeBlanc is pretty understated, which was a drastic change from how Clarkson conducted interviews. But then again, Jack Dee on Radio 4 is very understated (and still funny).
Dara and Ed are hilarious. How did you manage to make them boring?

AJ Rein - Me? All I can say is that I watched the first two episodes of TGT and thought it was horrible. Entirely missed what made Top Gear with them so good. Maybe it's got better, but I wouldn't know
Michael McGrath - Maybe it is. I don't know. What I can say with the same sureness as you said that is that the current series of Top Gear is actually really good as well. Episode 2 was fantastic
Ah yes I remember seeing clips of the first episode of Top Gear with 'OGs' Jeremy Clarkson (age 17), James May (age 14) and Richard Hammond (age 8) all the way back in 1977...
I am well familiar with Dara and Ed (they took a road trip in my country--USA) but who are the new guys? I thought one of them was the gay dancer who shows up on quiz shows from time to time. Has he butched up for this show? Why does the other one need to affect an American accent. Is he hoping to be the next "House"? Though not a motor-head, and one who does care about the environment, Top Gear has long been a guilty pleasure of mine. However, these two new yahoos are going to take some getting used to.

This is my second view of a “new Top Gear” WOW, bad, here we have not one but, two very good comedians on and, the two hosts still look flat and, boring. The first clip was of Lee Mac, another top of his game comedian. Do the BBC get what a dog of a show they now have.
Now I'm annoyed I didn't watch these Top Gear episodes
