Nice one Billy, the area is so different today, we used to have a scream down there as kids, sad and good memories. In 1981 we broke out of our institution to go to the riots, our big day out, in our night clothes, all the area was blocked off. I will excuse myself because I was only 15 years old.
Wow what an instantly likeable character he is a real gem. There again I love all scousers they are a top notch bunch of people or at least every single scouser I have ever met in my life have been great and had a laugh with. I was in Blackpool not long back with the family and got talking with a young scouser lad and he was a real funny character made a lasting impression on us all.

Granby street was the first place I scored brown back in 1985, I got the train from Lancaster and took a very timid step onto the street.😬😁As soon as I stepped on, I was asked what I wanted and stepped into a back yard just behind the red brick wall on the right, in the opening scene of your video. Unusually, it was a white lad with bottle bottom glasses who served me, his pals, who I think were the people he was serving up for, black guys, were all waiting on the street, one popped his head round to see what was happening as I was taking a while counting my money out- about £100. Boy, did I feel relieved as I left with my gear😁. The last time I went on there, the Somali refugees (from the war in Somalia) had been moved there, I remember feeling sorry for them- left a war zone, only to end up on Granby, a virtual war zone and no go area for coppers!😬😱🤣 6:21 The riot was 81, the year I left school. 8:03 Ahh! I didn’t know they had a riot in 86 or 87, I only remember 81, because that was when the Moss Side one went off as well, and ones in Birmingham, Handsworth and London,Tottenham, I think.

Toxteth is my Favourite part of our city, Love the people, the sense of community & that it's so near to the city centre. Brought my eldest daughter up there, always stuff going on for the kids to do ❤️💯
Used to live in 96 Mulgrave St, there's a mosque there now, right on top of where my flat was, had to go to lodgy baths to get a hot bath, Gramby WAS grim then !

Must go back there at some stage now that I am back in this part of the country. The police were the usual knob heads. You know one morning a load of people stormed into our housing office and they were as mad, as mad as hell. It turned out that at 4 in the morning the police had raided their house, rifles in hands, kicking down doors, accusing them of being drug dealers. What had happened was that police had turned up, mob handed, rifles at the ready, parked up on a road, adjacent to the street that they were to charge down, on foot. At a given time. 4 am street lights were turned off, police went running into the street, but the wrong street. Silly beggars got the wrong street, had gone down the opposite street

Everyone I knew who lived there - and I lived near there - is either dead, or dying through some illness or other. Others have moved out of the area and the city. Very sad now.
Lived off Devonshire Road in early 80s. Great place. No trouble at all and went to all the shabeens - Jamaica House was the go to place after all the city centre clubs had shut. Currued Goat or eggs if you were skint. Red stripe and Sensi.

Facts...back in the day in Lozells where it meets 6 Ways Aston there was a couple of tower blocks called Wiggin Tower and Clyde Tower and by about 1999 or 2000 they were empty but a little firm had took them over selling gear in them...anyways one day we were in Wiggin Tower and we went up to the top and you could get up onto the roof cz the security door had been volleyed off and there was loads of wires and four big old cameras..one on each corner of the block facing in all four directions...we smashed them up and just left them hanging off 😂 but it's proves what your saying bro.
