This was always a poor area ( at least 50 years ) but not really any trouble. Back in 1982, Tradex (a retail store) was demolished and replaced with a mosque but people still on on well. Now there are families from all over Europe and Asia there, completely outnumbering the original locals.

How many others live in deprived areas, the majority of my friends and family live in working class council estates or majority private land lord estates. They have never demolished their own area or set public transport on fire. Import problems you end up with them problems

I used to live in Harehills 10 years ago when I had my first child. A year after living there, I remember getting told by a child that had recently moved across the road from me that his parents told her not to speak to me because I was just a dirty black dog. From that, I knew the trouble that was coming, so under a year later, I moved away. So happy I did so that my child didn't grow up in that area.

I was a firefighter in that area for many years and I have seen lovely areas turned into downtown Beirute by the Council's policies. If you move to another country you integrate into their society. Not bring your country into their society. If you want to still practice your religion do it within your walls,if the majority of the country are dressed a certain way then dress as them ,laws and rules should be followed in that new country , respect the community your in by being polite and try speaking the language around the people of the country you moved to. Integration means involvement in community sports and get together. Integration does not mean creating a community within a community or taking over a community.

Those houses were built in the late 1800s for local workers so it has never been affluent area but it was a great place 50 years back with a great pub 100 yards from where the police car fire was, called the Compton Arms ( demolished 30 years ago ) and only a mile from famous Jimmy’s Hospital. The biggest and best teaching hospital in the country.

To be honest as someone from Leeds myself I can confirm the vast majority of the inner city areas are just grim dull depressing and that's just how it is at the moment. Poverty deprivation and crime. If you want to live in a nice area in Leeds you are best looking atleast five arguably ten miles from the city centre.

I'm scottish and my grandparents (also scottish) have stayed in harehills since the 70s or 80s. Its hands down the most run down place I've ever been, my gran has bars over her windows and has been burgled a few times. That for me would be enough reason to move back to Scotland.

A year after living there, I remember getting told by a child that had recently moved across the road from me that his parents told her not to speak to me because I was just a dirty black dog. From that, I knew the trouble that was coming, so under a year later, I moved away. So happy I did so that my child didn't grow up in that area.

The father of the child said he and his wife were out, and the children were all in the house. The baby had been dropped, and children didn't tell parents until swelling appeared on the baby's head. The parents then got the baby seen. So children were left to look after a baby. Allegedly, other children had bruises on them. ( unsure of that as that never came from the father) I am glad the social services are involved. Children should not be responsible for a baby. They need to follow our Laws.

I was a firefighter in that area for many years and I have seen lovely areas turned into downtown Beirute by the Council's policies. Old ladies who had lived all their lives in piece in the same area, terrorised and in fear of their lives its sickening. But this is nothing new I have been retired 12 years.
If you move to another country you integrate into their society. Not bring your country into their society. If you want to still practice your religion do it within your walls,if the majority of the country are dressed a certain way then dress as them ,laws and rules should be followed in that new country , respect the community your in by being polite and try speaking the language around the people of the country you moved to. Integration means involvement in community sports and get together. Integration does not mean creating a community within a community or taking over a community.

Those houses were built in the late 1800s for local workers so it has never been affluent area but it was a great place 50 years back with a great pub 100 yards from where the police car fire was, called the Compton Arms ( demolished 30 years ago ) and only a mile from famous Jimmy’s Hospital. The biggest and best teaching hospital in the country.

I have known many people on the poverty line and struggling to pay their bills and afford to eat. Despite their hardships they didn't behave in this sickeningly violent way. The unemployed are on benefits like those in the rest of the UK so why is this area any more deprived than others?

To be honest as someone from Leeds myself I can confirm the vast majority of the inner city areas are just grim dull depressing and that's just how it is at the moment. Poverty deprivation and crime. If you want to live in a nice area in Leeds you are best looking atleast five arguably ten miles from the city centre.

I saw your video on Kensington in Liverpool and it seems very similar to Harehills in Leeds. Third world dump, and like you mentioned theirs hardly any Scousers in Kensington, there are hardly any Loiners left in Harehills.

I'm scottish and my grandparents (also scottish) have stayed in harehills since the 70s or 80s. Its hands down the most run down place I've ever been, my gran has bars over her windows and has been burgled a few times. That for me would be enough reason to move back to Scotland.
