The fact that Senna was 1.7 seconds faster in qualifying means absolutely nothing. Alain knew that Senna would mostly beat him in qualifying, therefore did enough to get second. Makes no difference if a tenth slower or 1.7 seconds slower, as long as faster then third Alain still started in the same spot. Do you understand? Alain sure as hell did, as does anybody else with even moderate intelligence. There is absolutely no proof that either Senna or Alain were on the limit in qualifying, so your 1.7 seconds faster dribble has no relevance. Given the importance of the race, once it started one can be almost certain that both drivers were absolutely on the limit, Alain trying to increase the gap, and Senna desperately trying to close it. This shows the real gap between the two was nothing like the qualifying gap. Sometimes it pays to be your own man and look at things in a skeptical way, making your own decisions instead of simply repeating the same dribble that you have read so many times you now firmly believe it and know of by heart. Nico 9138 if Senna thought someone wronged him, his revenge was, well,... words like biblical come to mind. Thats why drivers then were superstars. Not the slick PR controlled “boys” of today.
Don't be daft. It's rather academic as he DNF'ed in Adelaide 2 weeks later (100% HIS error). I agree that he didn't get the rub of the green in 1989 but that's just motor racing, he didn't get robbed by anyone.
Senna was the real champion of 1989. FIA robbed him 2 races (the 2 he needed to be champion): Suzuka and Estoril (when a DQ Mansel took him out). And no, he is also 1990's champion because he only did that for revange, he doesn't needed at all. Prost is 3x world champion and Senna 4x WC.
For me no contemporary battle, whether it’s Hamilton/Rosberg or Vettel/Leclerc can match the absolute quality of the drivers or the intensity of Prost/Senna. It was a rivalry to define Grand Prix!
@Denis Valjean Grid positions in Suzuka weren’t changed in 1989 or 1990 but in 1991. Before that EVERY pole setter in Suzuka had to start on the inside. It was NOT changed by Ballestre. Search for pictures or videos of the starts in 1987 (Berger on pole), 1988 (Senna), 1989 (Senna), 1990 (Senna) and 1991 (Berger). It was changed in 1991 and Senna’s criticism that it is unfair for the pole setter to be on the less grippy side (which is true). So Balestre changed it because of Senna. Ironically Senna qualified only in 2nd for the 1991 race, which meant he had to start on the dirty side once again. Prost scored more points than Senna in both their seasons as teammates, but lost in 88 because of the points drop rule. Prost actually beat every single one of his teammates at least once after his rookie season.

FIA in 1989: disqualified from the race and given a six-month suspension and £100,000 fine

It is verstappen vs hamilton monza deciding crash in 2021??
Those were some good days which we all don't see anymore!
1:12 the roar of the engine is the best sound i have ever heard
Coming to Abu Dhabi next week:
La rivalidad mas grande de la F1. Una lucha entre maestro y discipulo. Grande Senna
Imagine Vettel claiming to quit after Canada 2019, the media would have a field day.
Fuczek1 COMPLETELY different though.
Senna did absolutely nothing wrong whereas Vettel went off the track
Bruno Danese neither did anything wrong, this was just worse because it was worth a WDC tittle
@@Trainmaster909 i'm sorry but vettel did nothing wrong? outbraking yourself and leaving the track is not wrong? i agree it shouldn't have been a 5 second penalty but saying vettel didn't do anything wrong is just wrong
@@felixone7506 I agree but it sucks that 5 seconds is the lightest time penalty you can get
@@felixone7506 It was a mistake, Hamilton made a few in that race. As did others. It happens when you're driving on the edge.

Rest in Peace Murray😪
Thats what we are gonna see in Abu Dhabi next weekend between Max and Hamilton
Verstappen x Hamilton Monza 2021 >>>> Senna x Prost Suzuka 1989
Yeah, Hamilton being the FIA's golden boy.
Rewatching this for the 934th time, now in preparation for tomorrow.
Cars get a little bump from the side, and both engines go out... thats quality material right there!
These cars were so easy to stall. Back then, the smallest of spins would see a driver retire

Girls: Boys don't know what a true betrayal is.

(EDIT): Don't be offended okay this is only a joke
What’s the point of the girl boy relation? I’m a girl and I give some serious shít about F1🤷🏽♀️

1989, Senna: "I won't forget that!" ( to be continued...)
This is absolutely legendary, real racing, a real incident, two drivers pushing each other to the absolute limit and going beyond it, something Hollywood fake drama or DTS can only dream of make feel to fans, the intensity the real F1 produces is unmatchable.
feels like a mini version of 'RUSH' the movie.
In the end of the world:
Murray: This is fantastic
RIP Senna
Love the old school sound...
12.12.2021: Here we go again
Well here we are this weekend 😂
🙈🙈🙈
Driver: *Crashed*
Commentator: "This is fantastic"
lol
It's Murray Walker so he'd have meant it in the old school sense of the word rather than meaning it's great. Murray is one of the greats of commentary.
@Yo Ben incest??? Why? So you mean it used to be dangerous but now not?
If only Vettel and Hamilton fought like this 💪🏼💪🏼

Emilio Fernandez not possible because of the Stuart’s and the fia
Murray Walker saying "ouch" when they first collide is amazing i miss Murray.
Senna, Nigel Mansel, Prost e Nelson Piquet, the best drivers ever passed F1.

As a really proud french F1 fan, I need to admit Senna got his title robbed from him in 89. But then he risked his and Alain's life for the 90 title, so let's say it's a 1-1, egality
Nico 9138 if Senna thought someone wronged him, his revenge was, well,... words like biblical come to mind. Thats why drivers then were superstars. Not the slick PR controlled “boys” of today.
Brazillian here, agreed.
Two legends Senna and Prost
Someone please show it to Max
In 1996 Balestre Said that he has given Prost help to win the title
Prost didn’t need his help. He would’ve won anyway.
Denis Valjean Senna apologist
Denis Valjean your last paragraph says it all, hence why Prost won more championships. No points for pole positions or fastest laps haha
O Melhor do Mundo , foi de arrepiar esse vídeo. Parabéns
