    I had no idea about the FX master volume hack for mixing. I was actually watching all your videos again about mixing techniques and features because I am really trying to perfect the mix on my latest project, and it got just a little too hot and didn’t want to start pulling on 12 separate tracks.
    Thank you Pete for another outstanding video. Anyone reading this comment should remember that it’s always a great way to spend an hour and review these amazing videos by Pete on GarageBand.
    The more I learn the more I realize how much I don’t know…. Plato said something like this. Just like you can always improve your earlier music projects, you can also learn by revisiting what you thought you already understood.
    Cheers!

    Another winner from Pete’s ever growing tool bag of tips and tricks! As I may have mentioned before...we might not use all of these tips in one day, but down the line if we have trouble with something, we will probably remember that Pete covered this at some point, and be able to go to his vast library to find the solution! Invaluable!

    Nice review Pete! I did learn something. Also, do you recommend using automation absolutely last after all other volume adjustments, effects, EQ, compression etc?

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  4 года назад +1

      I usually do wait until the last stage of the mixing process for automation, mostly so I don’t need to do a lot of the clip gain and visual EQ hacks, as too many of these cause me to lose visibility of where the volume actually is.

    Hi Pete, love your tutorials, its off topic here but is it possible to have a 1,2,3,4 count in before you start recording guitars etc and for it to be included in the final song as i keep on having to count along with the drums before coming in with guitars?

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  4 года назад

      Pete Johns hi cheers for the reply, i mean in my finished song it just starts with no click intro, when i send it to the other guys they just have to wait till the guitars etc start, i guess counting it out when doing the vocal would work..

    Hi Pete, is it correct that when mixing, it is best for each track not to exceed 0dbs, so that when we master it, the overall volume will be raised? Thanks, James.

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  3 года назад

      Hey there. Yup; your best bet is to keep individual tracks volumes low if you can and under 0dB and out of the yellow and red

    Hey Pete, in some of your other videos you don't merge tracks while mixing. Is this crucial? Can it cause problems while mastering because you normalised the sound already?

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  4 года назад +1

      It’s a personal choice thing really. I tend to just like to keep options open so keep tracks original. But will certainly use merge if I’m short on tracks or need to normalise volume.

  • @MendingSilence
