Joy and I live in Saraphi, Wayne. It is nice and quiet. Especially as we are several minutes from town. We give you the thumbs up to move here and join us, 555.
Nice one, Wayne. I always like a good Saraphi vlog because it's where I usually stay when I'm in Chiang Mai. I have to admit, I haven't seen a vlog where things looked that deserted since the Covid days. Still nice to see some familiar places though. Hope you do night time walking street vlog there soon.
Cheers Earl, Saraphi is my top place around Chiang Mai. It was very quiet about on this day, but the heat here is crazy at the minute, so that had something to do with it. I was the only crazy one out. I’ll be doing the walking street soon 👍
Great insight into the many cool places around Chiang Mai. I'd be inclined towards some of the surrounding hill/mountain area's, there's the benefit of cooler weather but perhaps a bit to quite for many, also Pai area is fun with lots to do.. .
Good trip, Wayne! I like this area but I AM happy to stay in Chiang Mai itself over by Chinatown Market near the Ping River! Thanks for another great video! Cheers from Home #1: Cape Cod! Looking forward to returning to Thailand later this year! 🙂
Wayne, do you visit Pai and is the weather cooler at such a high elevation? Awesome place to visit and lots of farang, surprised it does not get more attention.
Yes, I have loads of vlogs from Pai in my channel. A lot cooler in the mornings and evenings. Blazing hot during the day. It's not a bad place for a visit. Lot's of people always heading to Pai.
Nice video thanks Wayne . My friends in Thailand are complaining about the heat. They stay out the sun during the day . Maybe same in this town. Restaurants are a necessity. I found buying ingredients and cooking worked out more than eating at the Thai food markets. I guess vlogging you have go live where you can find good vlogging locations.
Same in every Thai town, about the Heat. You still see people around in most places though, everyone still needs to work. Yes, cooking at home would be cheaper, but it’s so cheap to eat out . Cheers 👍
Dont think I could live in smaller village. I moved inside the moat in Chiangmai. Probably quietest area inside the moat. Actually less hectic and noisy than when i lived out towards Central Festival Mall
Nice one Keith. Inside the moat would be a lot quieter then Central area, for sure. I couldn't live in the old city, but it's a prime spot for getting around. Cheers.
You can tell you are a long time resident of Thailand, you can walk around on a sunny day in the 40's and not break a sweat, I would be soaked thru. If you want the quiet life, Saraphi fits the bill, but it doesn't tickle me goolies, personally.
Yes Dan, it's normal for me now, my body has adapted over the years. I will feel the cold big time, if I ever leave. Saraphi is definetly not for everyone mate. It's still my number 1 area in Chiang Mai. But we all have our favorites and they're all good areas for different reasons. Cheers mate.
@@WalkAboutWayne Absolutely, I can't tell anything from a 30 minute walkabout, but I was digging the new development, hope you do a follow up in a year, I want to see them completed. She said they were all sold already, too. All Chinese buyers? Hmm
On the same trip. But, I think I will stay in the west. Nicaragua/Guatemala/ Yucatán. I am a j with three little ones and my kids can travel easier and cheaper with kiddos. I always dreamed of one day going back and stay in northern Thailand. Life is what it is. I start my journey in July. Best wishes on your final decision!
It sounds like a great journey, some places I would love to go. Hope you can make it to SE Asia one day. Hope you and the family have a great time. Thank you.
Another good one Wayne I'm still considering Hua Hin . Between the Heat end The Burning Season would probably keep me from being up north. Best wishes from the US... Summer(2025)
Just came from there 32 degrees nice sea breeze made a change from the 42 extreme heat that you cant even go out in really. I think all round hua hin is a good area to retire
Since your other videos with Ya, I subscribe to her blog, and just got an email with photos from Hawaii. Too bad; she could take you where the locals know the best food is.
Nice Wayne. Shame Ya wasnt about shes funny. Sarapee looks like it would be nice to escape for a week or two. I think youd soon go through all the rough dimands 😅 take it easy mate
Alongtime now mate. I never see much inflation in Chiang Mai or in the north. It's crazy how cheap street food is still 40 baht. Many some things go up a little. But it's all nearly the same as when I first come here many years ago.
It does but its not pronounced the same way. 'P' referring to someone older has a higher tonality, whereas "p" that refers to ghosts has a lower tonality.

Thank you for the approval 👍
Still loving these journeys you have in Thailand…some of these spots you go to are so peaceful.
Thanks mate! I love going to the small towns and villages. I have loads more planned like this soon.
It is always great revisiting old stomping grounds. Nice video Wayne. Cheers buddy 🤩
It was a good day mate, very hot, but always good to be in Saraphi.
Wayne you love it quiet fair play your only 20 minutes away from the hustle and bustle looking forward to your new home Wayne
I love a bit of peace and quiet mate.

Nice! Thanks Wayne that Le Chamonix was pretty cool & selling fast!
Cheers Mike. Yes mate, that place will sell out in know time.
I really appreciate the video. I'm looking to buy a condo and eventually move to Thailand. Thanks again.
Thank you 🙏
@@WalkAboutWayne have you decided where you want to move? What's the top 3 picks?
Wayne Walking About Watching ❤😊
Wayne Walking About, that’s got a ring to it. Might change the name 😃 Thank you 🙏
Nice work mate - Le Chamonix looks swish
Sarapee looks cool 😎
Good day out in Saraphi mate. Le Chamonix will good once it's all done. Cheers mate.

Pai is ok for a few days. Still gets super hot in the day time. Cooler mornings and evenings though 👍 Thanks

That's a great area mate.Warorot Market (Kad Luang) is a bustling area. great area for shopping. Hope to see you in Thailand soon. Thanks.

Good stuff Wayne 🙂
Do you have any intentions of having a look at any small quiet coastal towns / villages,..??
I'm sure I'll be somewhere near the coast soon. No plans yet though.
Ahhhh Coolio 😎
Take care
All the best

Hi Wayne! If you like Saraphi, it seems to have the same look and feel as Kalasin. Maybe have a look at Kalasin as well. Cheers!
I hope to visit Kalasin one day mate, it looks good. Thanks
Nice vlog Wayne. I was wondering if you can handle spicy food? Don’t know if you’ve ever mention it in your past videos.
The longer I’ve been here, the more I’ve liked it. I only like a little spice though 👍
Way to posh for me mate I prefer a simple room in a Thai area great vid as always 😊
Saraphi is a very Thai area mate. Lots of rooms about. Cheers buddy 👍

Cheers John 👍
Do you know why there are buckets on the floor next to each table in the restaurant where you ate lunch?
Yes, its a bin for garbage.
Whats the duck restaurant called and link to website please?
It's called - Guay Tiew Pet Tun. I've added the location to the description of the video 👍
On the same trip. But, I think I will stay in the west. Nicaragua/Guatemala/ Yucatán. I am a j with three little ones and my kids can travel easier and cheaper with kiddos.

Tickled me goolies, haha LOL
🤣🤣🤣
Hey Wayne. The Chamonix place is where I go Skiing in France. 🇫🇷
Pretty sure it’s named after the ski resort 😂
Yes mate, named after the Ski place in France. 👍
Since your other videos with Ya, I subscribe to her blog, and just got an email with photos from Hawaii. Too bad; she could take you where the locals know the best food is.
Nice! Ya is a great woman. She sure has shown me some great food spots. 👍
Are you on the road again mate? Care to give a hint ? 😊
Still in Chiang Mai mate, but about to start the new series. I can’t give no hints yet. Stay tuned 👌
It's pronounced 'Shamonee', Wayne. It's named after the home of mountaineering in France for some reason.
That's right buddy, as you can see in my other 2 vlogs here. I'll still call it Chamonix 🤣 I did ask about the French name in one of the other vlogs.
@@WalkAboutWayne Sorry.. didn't know if you knew or not.
@@nicknewman7848 No worries Nick, I didn't know when I first did a vlog here, until someone else pointed it out. Cheers mate.

Cheers mate, yes shame I didn’t see Ya this time, but I’ll be going out there again soon. Plenty of rough diamonds in Saraphi , for sure 🤣
2:29.. looks like you're looking for coffee?🎉COFFEE!
You know me Alan, never touch the stuff.
Seems like so many more ads on your vids - have you changed the settings?
No mate, default as always 👍
Third world always much better, third becomes first world to me..but hey youve got some good ideas.
Sure, even though I don't really class Thailand as third world.
Wayne, how long have you been in Thailand? Have you seen some/much/any inflation there since you arrived. Thanks in advance for your answers.

@@WalkAboutWayne , thanks. I've been in Tangiers for 2 years now and I am starting to notice prices rising on a number of things. C'est la vie.
for many its still a holiday.
It sure is 👍
What happened to Black Beauty?
Sold her, but wish I didn't.
If you like to travel to Asia, then you should spend more money in Asia to have fun.
😂 you can have fun on many different budgets. Cheers 🙏
Too quiet and looks like nothing there, rather be somewhere busier with hustle and bustle
Nice, it’s not for everyone. Hustle and bustle does your head in after a while though too. Short term it’s good .
Chinese investment, the target customer is Chinese. Lol
You're right 👍
Doesn't "pee" mean "ghost"? 😁 The kind in Thai horror movies.
Dunno, never heard anyone say it here. I'm sure Phi is older brother or sister.
@@WalkAboutWayne There was a movie called "Pee Nak" some years back.. I was told it meant "The ghost emerges".. 😁
It does but its not pronounced the same way. 'P' referring to someone older has a higher tonality, whereas "p" that refers to ghosts has a lower tonality.
