Real glad I found your channel, exactly what I've been looking for. Very resourceful, level headed, easy to listen to. Going to be watching these a lot in the evenings 🤗
Left Bangkok yesterday back to South Africa after two months in Chiang Mai. CM, was hot , but Bangkok was THE hottest day I experienced for sure. Weather forecast said, 37 degrees but feels like 46 !!! Thats insane and it really felt like it ! Tell you what, popping into a Seven Eleven feels like heaven and then to reach for a Singha soda water is the best thing ever !
have been in Chiang Mai in May/June i think that's why there is a 7/11 every 400 meters so you can get that blast of air con at the door in times like this lol
I just came back from my 4 week holiday in Thailand, back to 6 - 12 °C in Ireland. It is freezing cold here. Even when I sweat in the heat during the day during work on the farm in Thailand, I still prefer it to Ireland. We did cook ourselves soups from bones with lots of vegetables + some water during the day was sufficient. The soups provided the minerals needed. It is easier for me to adapt to the heat than live here in the constant cold. Where I did grew up we had cold winters with -10°C and hot summers +25°C. I completely miss this is in Ireland, and thus I also understand you that you miss seasons as well. When you did grew up with them, they are spice of the year.
That sounds to cold for me brrrrr. I do miss the seasons though, yes. I would like some cold days every now and then but as you mentioned, I would much prefer hot weather over cold. Thanks
It is only really hot in April and May. Don’t walk in the sun midday and if you have to go for a short walk, an umbrella and a big bottle of cold water will help. Never get dehydrated is the key. You will survive.
In Darwin we got the same heat . Must escape to the aircon ! Free aircon at shopping centres and libraries and public buildings.A coastal location near the sea is more comfortable.it’s not easy when you get older causing Heat fatigue . Needs lots of water and rest.
Hi Wayne! I would definitely take the hot over the cold. Living in Thailand, I am used to it, but yeah, the cooler months here are much better and easier to handle. Just some advice that you might want to get your air conditioner professionally cleaned approximately every six months. If not, it will certainly be far less effective, significantly more expensive to operate, and cause headaches and allergy-type symptoms because of the dust. Stay cool, and keep up the good work! Cheers, mate!
Hotter the better, 45 degrees in my Isaan village, lovely jubbly. It does get down to 28/29 in the day and 15/16 at night at its coolest which makes a nice change for a couple of weeks
a village in thailand plus that heat, omg the ugly lanquage that sounds like nasally congested birds chirping, the pollution, the locals all of whom are dirt poor, sounds like utter hell on earth, u can have it, enjoy your inlaws and enjoy your visits routinely into town and those certain places that have ladies.
Nice one Wayne - it’s 15c in Melbourne - I don’t like it , Hot days is no problem , as you say , most time spent inside out of the heat - happy days my friend 👍👋😎🙏
Yes Wayne, the heat smoke combination would be something I would struggle with and I have a reasonably good bill of health. I'd struggle to live there this time of the year and would likely travel elsewhere for a while. Nice video mate. Cheers. 🤩
Great one today Wayne! Like you I'm originally from a very mild climate, the Pacific Northwest of the US. 70° F ( 21°C) is perfect to me. Not a fan of hot weather, and I'm Irish and English heritage so I have two levels of tan, pink and red😂 But, I love Thailand enough that I will deal with it. It doesn't usually bother me to much when I'm there except the sweating, but I haven't been in April.
Nice one Shain. I'm the same mate, I only go bright pink then white again. You do get use to it though. The humid rainy season is more of a problem for me.
I was just in Chiang Mai and Bangkok and personally, I found the heat in Bangkok significantly worse than Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai was super hot in the middle of the day, but the mornings and evenings were relatively pleasant for much longer than Bangkok. Also, it wasn't nearly as muggy as Bangkok with Bangkok having a dew point around 25-27C and Chiang Mai's being around 20C.
You right , the heat grow on you 😅 43 °c kanchanaburi today, but i kind of got use to it now, I think i would be a good slave 😂 chiang mai is on my bucket list now , good one again 👏👏
Sausage, Bacon & Beer. Coffee. It's still on google street view July 2022. The whole street has changed quite a bit since then. One thing I've learned in my time here is that things change regularly and quickly. They work fast, even in this heat.
I was there for the entire month of March and it was hot then, too, but nothing like this. This is the kind of temperature that takes some time to acclimate and get used to, you don't get off the plane from England or the U.S. and walk around in that blast furnace and not be soaked thru.
Totally agree with A/C it drys me out too much, if the cold gets into my chest i'm a goner ie a dry cough. Humidity is the Energy Succubus, just drains the Life out of Moi.
The heat did pee me off a bit for the first time a few weeks ago. I drove past you today when you was talking to that lady in the shelter. i was enjoying the A/C in the car lol.
It's been a max of 15c on a good day for the whole of June 2024 and 13c on a cool day with 7-9c some evenings. I WANT HEAT! lol Our seasons in the UK are 9 months cold or cool with 3 months where it should be warm or warmer, but even then, it's not reliable. I need to get to Thailand sooner than later 😎
I love the heat. Sweating really doesn't bother me so much. The secret is quick dry clothing and lots of water. I have stocked up on quick dry shirts and cargo pants. Good to go, man!
Yes, I have to wear quick dry most of the time. I get the cotton out later in the year. Cotton still the best for comfort, but no way I can wear it in the summer.
I usually go back to the UK every December for a couple of family birthdays and Xmas and it’s a real shock to the system…. Left Chiang Mai in the mid 30°s and arrived at Gatwick to -3°🥶It was freezing cold and rained solidly for the entire month😂
hey Wayne, I thought I missed the sorta cooler fresher months back here in England.... I was wrong, and its not been a harsh winter... its grey and miserable, and shame to say, the people are too =( Hope to be back soon with the parents in tow =)
I would be ready for the heat again after 2 days of cold mate. I can imagine what it’s like back home these days. I don’t miss it. Good to hear you’ll be back in Thailand soon 👍
32c here in Corpus Christi, Texas and this is only the start. Still have June, July, August, and September before we get any kind of break at all. Wish I could afford to live in Colorado in the summer. Oh well, just hope and pray air con keeps working. Had it go ou five years ago and cost 8,000.00 us to replace.
Does get a bit uncomfortable when it's over body temperature but still better than the UK. Hate Aircon though, only ever use it if I'm in Bangkok during hot season.
I'm originally from East Texas and when I was in the military. I spent time in the medit's raining and in northern Africa. I think I could adjust to the heat within a reasonable amount of time.
G'day Wayno, go up to Dalat in Vietnam for a couple of weeks mate. It's probably my favourite part of Vietnam, and nice and cool. 18 degrees atm, 31 by lunchtime 👍🙏
I didnt think it was any different but I have noticed im using aircon earlier in the day than I normally would...so yes I guess its a little hotter than usual, dont ride the bike at the moment feels like I just got out of a microwave when I get off...sticking to the car for the time being...

10c !! I would be absolutely freezing mate. Hope you get a bit of summer this year. Yes mate! I use to go all them places raving. I was a regular at Kaos and The Warehouse. Verbeer Manor too. Obsession was my favourite raves down Plymouth. Fantazia was special raves also. Cheers buddy
Haha,...wow,.. cool,... definitely a lot in common,....😁 Could you do a vid for proper newbies one day,..do's - don'ts ,.. for relaxed/ chilled trip not too much sin city to start with please haha,..🙂
Jesus man its hit well over 40 up here in Udon every day the past month. I literally can't keep myself hydrated. My AC is fighting a loosing battle. 44 today, that's desert heat and zero shade up here. there's a huge difference between low 30's and 40's, for me at least.
I don't think there's anything that can prepare you for the heat and humidity that slaps you in the face when you walk out of Swampy for the first time! It does take time to acclimatise to the heat and humidity but, for me, the worst thing was going back to UK in December after a year inn Thailand.....absolutely bleddy freezing, the first thing I did was buy a big coat and I didn't take it off for the first 3 months, in or out!!🤣

Just noticed in the reflection on the restaurant window that you don't wear shorts 🥵🥵🥵. I always wore long trousers in the night because of the mozzies but shorts always during the day . P.S It's 11 degrees Celsius and raining here in South Wales today and you're welcome to it 😢
I never wear shorts much these days. I dress more like a Thai nowadays. The first 2 years I always did, now hardly ever. Especially riding the bike aswell. I hate wearing shoes though.
HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!! Only Europeans tolerate extreme heat and humidity because the weather in most European countries is miserable we in the USA and Australia have many options !!!!
The clothing thing is an issue :) i have lived my whole life in a cold climate and the clothing i use and wear is me , its hard to suddenly change that and not wear my winter puffer jackets and hoodies etc.
Real glad I found your channel, exactly what I've been looking for. Very resourceful, level headed, easy to listen to. Going to be watching these a lot in the evenings 🤗

Bangkok wasn’t to bad when I was there a few weeks ago. I know it gets hot hot hot though. How hot is South Africa?
We get heat waves of over 40C here in Adelaide but it’s the humidity over there that zaps me!
Yes, the humidity is what makes it the worst.
have been in Chiang Mai in May/June i think that's why there is a 7/11 every 400 meters so you can get that blast of air con at the door in times like this lol
You're getting into my head. I'm out in my garden today (alone) practicing saying things like - "touchin down!" in your accent. ARG
Haha the neighbours will think, what’s he on about haha

For sure mate, I would choose hot any day. I would like a couple days of cold , but that would be all. Thanks mate .
Hotter the better, 45 degrees in my Isaan village, lovely jubbly. It does get down to 28/29 in the day and 15/16 at night at its coolest which makes a nice change for a couple of weeks
45 might be getting to the limit for me. It was super hot in Udon when I left
a village in thailand plus that heat, omg the ugly lanquage that sounds like nasally congested birds chirping, the pollution, the locals all of whom are dirt poor, sounds like utter hell on earth, u can have it, enjoy your inlaws and enjoy your visits routinely into town and those certain places that have ladies.
Nice one Wayne - it’s 15c in Melbourne - I don’t like it , Hot days is no problem , as you say , most time spent inside out of the heat - happy days my friend 👍👋😎🙏
Nice one Ant, I could do with one day of 15c but that would be enough I think 👍
Couldn't agree more. Reminds me of when I came back from Australia. The cold and rain was lovely for a day or two. Take it easy Wayne👍
Yes, one or two days would be enough for me mate. Cheers
Been to Thailand 30 times since 2005. Always November for two weeks and January for two weeks. Incredible weather.
November ? what about the incredible rain and flooding ?
November great time to be here. November and December the best .
Yes Wayne, the heat smoke combination would be something I would struggle with and I have a reasonably good bill of health. I'd struggle to live there this time of the year and would likely travel elsewhere for a while. Nice video mate. Cheers. 🤩
It can be a challenge this time of year mate. It’s definitely not a time for everyone. Nice one mate.
Fishing @ fishing bowl in bkk. Lucky numbers there. Heat is too much this time a year for me. Take care mate!
Nice one buddy!
Thumbs up 👍 Wayne
Cheers Mango 👍
Check out Da Lat in Vietnam. I was there the last 2 months. Daytime 30 degrees evening 19 degrees. Perfect
Yes Da Lat looks a great place, still gets hot but a nice hot. Baguio in The Philippines gets some cooler weather too. Cheers 👍
It's about 36 here on Phuket and feels hot as hell daytime.
Hope you getting some of that coastal breeze mate.
Only 1 thing worse than the heat, heat & flies. Thanks for the walk & talk in the heat. 43° Issan last year, too hot for an old fella😡
Yes the heat brings more bugs and Geckos 🦎. Cheers buddy.
Great one today Wayne! Like you I'm originally from a very mild climate, the Pacific Northwest of the US. 70° F ( 21°C) is perfect to me. Enjoyed that. Maria and Col from Pattaya
Thanks guys, hope all is well in Pattaya 👍

Yes, not so hot early mornings in Chiang Mai. Kanchanaburi was even hotter than Bangkok when I was there a few weeks ago. Bangkok was humid though.
@@WalkAboutWayne Apparently Kachanaburi is the hottest province in Thailand, so it doesn't surprise me.
You right , the heat grow on you 😅 43 °c kanchanaburi today, but i kind of got use to it now, I think i would be a good slave 😂 chiang mai is on my bucket list now , good one again 👏👏
Kanchanaburi is one of the hottest places I’ve been in Thailand. Roasting. Yep. You get use to it mate, second nature now.
Sausage, Bacon & Beer. Coffee. It's still on google street view July 2022. The whole street has changed quite a bit since then. One thing I've learned in my time here is that things change regularly and quickly. They work fast, even in this heat.
That’s the one buddy, it wasn’t open long . It looks better now I think. Yes a lot of things changed in that area.
I see you were very close to House of Paella resturant, would love to try that place out, something different in thailand, keep em coming:-)
Hope you get to try it one day 👍. Cheers
i cant wait to get back there luv it
Hope to can get back soon 👍
Wayne it’s 46 to £ right now today I remember years ago 80 then 73 but 46 is good I hope it goes up to 50 to the £ happy days man
Happy Days with 46 at the minute, I’m happy with that .
I normally live in Chiang Rai but now staying at Rayong beach for a few months to escape the air pollution, side effect is a nice sea breeze
Nice one Paul, I really liked Rayong. Good place 👍

Yes mate, aircon is only good in short spurts I think. Humid is the one I don't like either buddy.
The heat did pee me off a bit for the first time a few weeks ago. I drove past you today when you was talking to that lady in the shelter. i was enjoying the A/C in the car lol.
Nice one mate, yes I was sitting down chatting. It was another hot day for sure buddy.
I love the heat it’s the cold and rain I hate back in Bangkok end of month can’t wait
Nice one Dave, you’ll soon be living the good life again 👍
It’s hot as balls out there right now.
It sure is mate.
It's been a max of 15c on a good day for the whole of June 2024 and 13c on a cool day with 7-9c some evenings.

I've lived in Chiang Mai for 13 years. Yeah, it's always hot during the hot season ... But it IS worse this year, getting me down.
I wouldn’t have known any difference but it’s definitely hot.

For sure. I would much prefer living here.
oh yes . been going pattaaya for 20 years now . love it mate . live in london no fun here .
I've just got back been multiple times never felt it so hot, literally had to stay in hotel till it cooled down later.
I hope you had a good time though 👍

Cheers John 👍
Afternoons like this are best spent at the pool or at a coffee shop with a cold drink.
Yes, true 👍
Yes, most of us could handle that heat. Do I want to? Hell, no!! Best of luck, mate.
Nice one Brian. I would like a little cooler but I’d rather have hot than cold.
Ahh 40c plus in anyone's language is hot.
We have just gone through a very hot an dry summer in Western Australia with temperature well in the 40s.

If you want some cold weather, ride your motorbike up to Doi Inthanon.
Been there and done that buddy.
A goldfish bowl.. Yes SK is the best but its always busy in there. OMG over the road does some real nice food, bangers and mash.
Yep, it’s a busy one and the most popular. Mmmm bangers and Mash
a little tan won't hurt
Happy Days
Jesus man its hit well over 40 up here in Udon every day the past month. I literally can't keep myself hydrated. My AC is fighting a loosing battle. 44 today, that's desert heat and zero shade up here. there's a huge difference between low 30's and 40's, for me at least.

Lampang 43/44 praying for rain probably last week of May😮
Let’s hope for some rain soon mate. Stay cool buddy
Love me some Changklan road!
Top road 👍
I don't think there's anything that can prepare you for the heat and humidity that slaps you in the face when you walk out of Swampy for the first time! It does take time to acclimatise to the heat and humidity but, for me, the worst thing was going back to UK in December after a year inn Thailand.....absolutely bleddy freezing, the first thing I did was buy a big coat and I didn't take it off for the first 3 months, in or out!!🤣
Yes Tanya. Going back to the UK would be absolute freezing for me now.
The temperatures given, i think, are in the shade. Out in the open ya gotta stick another 5° on I reckon.
I don’t know about that. I would say it’s around 40 to 42c
Will you stay there during the wet season?
Sure, that’s one of my favourite times here .
I just can't take that heat with the humidity. Where I live in California, it's 40-43C for usually 3-4 months a year, which can be tough to take with my light skin and blue eyes. But at least we don't have the humidity that Thailand has! No, I won't be going there during that heat.
Yes, the humidity is the biggest challenge. It would be fine without the humid weather.
When you're old and arthritic, the UK is absolute torture for six months of the year.🧐😎🥶
Just 6 months🤣 I remember it was longer than that for me haha
Would rather be hot in Thailand...that freezing cold and wet in the UK !
Hope alls well mate 👍
100%!!
Coming from Australia, lm 71 , easyyyyyyy!!!!!!😊
Super easy for Australians 👍
Wayne your body has climatized now if you came back to the uk your catch a cold 🥶 mate
Yes, I’ll be freezing back home.
You have surely adjusted to the Thai climate if you think 15˚C is cold.
I was freezing at 15c 😂
Found Bangkok to be the hottest...ovenblast heat during day.
Yes, Bangkok is super humid
Pai is brutally hot too! Just enjoying some RUclips in the aircon. Cheers
Nice one Kreg. Yes mate, it’s hot hot hot.
Is doi inthanon close, that is supposed to be cool weather
About an hour. Yep, cooler at the top of Doi Inthanon.
The rains will come soon. Usually at the end of May, right? That knocks the heat off and kicks away the smoke.
50\50 the rain brings humidity. It will get rid of the smoke though

Send me that cold weather for just one day. I'll pay 🤣
is Graffiti an issue?
In Chiang Mai?
@@WalkAboutWayne yes. i dont see much on your walkabouts
how do you deal with the heat at night, is it hard to sleep in??
I prepare the fan on my legs and have the fan on full. In the early days it was tough in April. I’ve learnt how to prepare for sleep these days.
why dont you go back north part if the year
Some say it is a little cooler in the south.
I’m a North guy, this I where I want to be most of the time
sky is grey mate always some smokes or what ?
Burning season buddy
25c for 11 months and snow for 1 month perfect cheers 🍻
25 to 30c most of the year would be great.
I prefer heat. Freezing temperature depresses me.
I want one day of freezing, then back to heat 🤣
I can't wear tshirts in when hot. Button shirts let some air in
And need shorts. Maybe a dress?
Birthday suit
Don't forget your electrolytes Wayno, you can drink 10 litres of water a day but it won't hydrate you at all without electrolytes 😓

Very true. Thanks
even in 40'c you wear long pants? wear shorts at all? You've acclimated to Thai heat no problem.
Most of the time long these days. Shorts every now and then. Yes, I wouldn’t say I’m ever overly hot.
HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!! Only Europeans tolerate extreme heat and humidity because the weather in most European countries is miserable we in the USA and Australia have many options !!!!
That’s true 👍

The clothing thing is an issue :) i have lived my whole life in a cold climate and the clothing i use and wear is me , its hard to suddenly change that and not wear my winter puffer jackets and hoodies etc.
Yes, I can relate to that. I like to wear what I like even if if it’s not the most practical here in Thailand.
Better to wear light long sleeves if you don’t use an umbrella.
is going up into the mountains an option? Should be cooler up there?
Early mornings and night. Still roasting during the days
