*WAYS THAT BRYAN WAS WRONG!!! The drop point Brazen is 14C28N and that's a HOOLIGAN not a PINTAIL.*
Civivi is what happens when a company that practices making quality goods decides to make a budget line; it's a quality budget line. But when a company practices making junk and decides to make a quality knife, ahem, Gerber, ahem, it's not good. Everyone should start with a Civivi; it will reset the bar.
I like the Praxis the best for a number of reasons. I tend to like larger knives to begin with, I like that flat grind and I’m not a huge fan of holes in the blade. My first experience with Civivi was getting my sister the Damascus / purple Praxis for Christmas, I liked it so much that I got my own and I’ve since added a number of Civivi knives. Keep up the great work Slicey.
Perhaps you'd like the Asticus if you like a big knife
Only been collecting knives for a few months and have 4 or 5 Civivi knives already, love them. Also FWIW I think the drop point Brazen comes in 14C28N, not 9CR (not that that's a bad thing either)

Great choice for number one! I have the Civivi backlash with the black coating and blue liners and it's just beautiful. Feels so good in the hand, great choices for all the other knives as well.
Glad to see the McKenna on the list. It's one of my favorite knives and doesn't always get the love compared to other Civivis.
I currently own the Brigand, Badlands Vagabond, and Praxis in the Damascus, then an Incite with the blue G10 and black Carbon Fiber. On order is 2 of the button lock Elementums; one in Damascus, the other in brown micarta. I love Civivi!
Great list. That had to be hard. I look at my collection and would hard pressed to pick my five favorites. I need to get a Shredder that was a great pick. I have to say I love the new Elementum button lock which is lefty friendly and may be my #1. I still love the Praxis and the Odium. But there are so many excellent knives to choose from.
I just got my Bklash as my first civivi about a week ago. Very happy with it. The same model with the blue liners as shown in the video. Though I've had a little trouble with deploying the blade where it does 3/4 of the way on a weaker actuation of the finger stud. My guess is that it's due to how light the blade is. And obviously I've been spoiled by the buttery action of my ZT 0450 sinkevich.
Love the (actual) Pintail a lot, great deal and flips like crazy. Also like the Incite model with red/black G10, although it is similar to the Praxis design. Thanks for the overview, you’ve given me two more to think about!
Really glad you mentioned that small handle; that shape is totally my jam and I would have been sorely tempted, but my hands are on the bigger side and almost-big-enough is way too small for my peace of mind. Trying to use them comfortably is frustrating. Good lookin' out, man! Thanks
love my praxis and baklash, the shredder and the elementum is awesome too but all amazing civivi makes amazing quality stuff.
Great picks! I've got the Backlash, Ortis and (of course) the Elementum all in Damascus. Great knives for the price point, can't complain at all.
I really want the Brazzen and I totally agree with you, the tanto looks much better IMO but I'd rather have it in the 14C28N. Great top 5. Take care bud.
I just recently got the ortis and I’m loving it! The handle is just a wee bit slippery otherwise it’s fantastic!
I definitely need to get my dirty paws on the backlash! Every-time it’s mentioned my hands get itchy with that desire in my chest ..nah I will pick it up later this year.
Great honorable mentions, any chance for Balisong related stuff? I know you’re not exactly a huge fan but I was enjoying your balisong series that only got to two eps/. I won’t bug about it again just wanted to throw it out there.

My first Civivi was the Backlash... Still one of my Favs.
Have to admit I'm impressed with Civivi after recently buying my first, a rustic gent as a present. Better fit, finish and build quality than the last couple of Spyderco's I've bought. If it were a better steel than d2, I think a lot of the 'bigger' brands would be in big trouble. I recently ordered a WE Miscreant 2 at £104 on offer, M390 and Titanium. If it's as well made as my Banter, I can't see why I'd be spending a LOT more money on S30v, G10 etc. Benchmade, Spyderco etc etc could end up in real trouble…
The Pintail is tops for me. Great performance, size, and love that it has both flipper and thumb stubs for options on deployment.
Agreed...I have the Damascus with Cuibourtia wood scales. My fav!

I had 5 Civivis until I gave my son my Baklash. Still miss that knife. I may get a new one at Blade Show this year. Along with a couple of newer models, too.

Still waiting for the perfect Civivi. I have the Ortis and the Pintail so far. Love the Pintail, but it's a little too small for me. I think the Brazen drop point in micarta would be near perfect.
Anyone considering the Baklash should consider pulling the trigger on it this year. It's the oldest Civivi and Sencut (WE's budget line compared to Civivi as a mid-tier) has a D2 clone of it with the Actium. Once Sencut gets off the ground, I don't see them having Civivi keep an old model that potentially cannibalizes their new brand.

Just picked up the Little Fiend to add to my Civivi collection, but I still need a Pintail and maybe a Brazen!
If you email unlocked composites, he might make you some custom scales for the McKenna. He offered to make me custom scales if I sent him the knife to reverse engineer. He works with carbon fiber and is a trustworthy guy. Pretty well established.
My favorite Civivi is actually the Statera. It’s a unique blade shape and appearance compared to many that look similar. Also, I really liked the Duras as well. That said, I think it’s time that We/Civivi came out with a version of the Axis/crossbar lock.
I'd like to check out The Imperium, it's one of the newest, front flipper, thumb stud, nitro-v and 68 bucks.
Have you used a Durus? It’s become my favorite Civivi because it seems like a lot more knife than it is and fits in well with the NYC restrictions/doesn’t really freak people out when I use it around the uninitiated.
The Ortis made me reconsider my stance on a Chinese made knife.

Ortis and shredder seems to similar, i would choose one or the other and i did choose the Dogma :p
But what about the Odium? I think its one of the best small knives out there.
To me the Elementum Button lock is like a 10x improvement over the original of which i only really
liked the nice hollow grind.. but nothing else
The Sencut Actium is like an upgraded Backlash. Similar blade, better ergos, thumb stud + flipper.
The Ortis blade hole is LBH friendly!

Can't argue your list. Civivi could randomly generate a list and it would still be a good list. Mine is Brigand, Dogma, Rustic Gent, Elementum S35VN, and 1. Pintail.
The pintail is on bearings and s35 for under $85, it's got to be the best for the money.
They make Copper, and Brass , wood....scales.. for some Civivi.. They are beautiful...
I may know a guy trying to make scales and would probably do fancy scales for a McKenna if he had some scales to make the CAD model 🙂

About their Damascus, civivi has stated themselves that it is 9cr and 10cr layered

No love for Riffle ? Micarta, good ergo, great action, multiple deployment ways, slicey blade, 14c28n or damascus .. except bit controversial opening hole it is pretty much perfect

Buck would be pretty impossible for me. I’ve only had a couple. MAYBE CRKT, but would probably be mostly many Pilar variations.

I would have liked it twice if I could have! I think that Civivi is one of the most underrated knives in my opinion.

@@SliceyDicey Lol! I have to agree...for larger hands the Praxis and Incite are top notch. I have frick'n HUGE hands. Put it this way, there's no way I can grasp an AD-10 with a thin glove on. I'm already cramped in the grip bare-handed. Lol!
I don’t know 🤷 about the elementum eather I got a bad one or people aren’t using there knifes took mine to work new out of the box 📦 biggest turd knife I ever used could not cut anything and I got from blade HQ made my whole day a hassle trying to cut my kizer shard out performed the elementum I think it’s trash
Sounds like you definitely got a bad one bud. Sorry to hear that. Mine has worked very well and it hasn’t been put through easy use just opening boxes and cutting tape lol it’s actually been USED
My brazen tanto is well built but was dull as ditchwater ootb(blacked out version)
