DLT said Spyderco isn't taking anymore "Exclusive" orders at the moment till they get caught up. They are running behind on production dates. DLT said they will continue doing one off exclusives and move away with doing PM2 in different flavors. Bravo to DLT.
I definitely wanted it to come back. I've been trying to get my hands on one for years. Grabbed this right away. Will i carry it? Yes. Every day?... probably not, but I love quirky knives and this is that, plus it's really well made.
Ordered one today, it was a bit much for sure but this is right up my alley. Big, tanky, and looks weird I can’t wait for it to be delivered! Although I was going to buy a coffee maker.. that’ll have to wait til next paycheck
Got mine a few days ago. Very cool knife. Not cheap, I do agree with that. It does indeed chop well (I tested that briefly). The only downside I noticed is - when you choke up (I love the oversized finger choil), then unless you have XXL sized hands, your pinky will land on that ‘hump’ in the middle of the handle and becomes a serious hot spot if you start to bear down on the blade (what would be the main reason to choke up on the blade in the first place). Still - it is a very unique and superbly well made knife. And yes - it could have been 0.02” instead of 0.03” behind the edge - that would make it a better cutter while being still plenty strong.
The re-released Spyderco Tuff should also have the steel lockbar mounted from the inside and not easily seen from the outside. My main complaint is the choil, which effectively makes the usable blade very short. Also, I wonder how much they saved by eliminating the dimples.
I have what i thought was an original TUFF 3V and mine has the lock bar insert that is screwed down from the inside so no screws or holes are visible. Are you saying theres a version that is attached differently?
@@ScottieG59 - roger that. On the TUFF the insert is a large thin plate attached from the inside so no screws are visible and only a portion of the edge of the insert is seen from the knives bottom. Overall a very clean design but totally unnecessary imo considering how "busy" the knife is.
If I didn't just get a Jurassic, (blew my monthly budget by ahead of time), I would've got this. It's uniquely Funky and the TiCN coating/bluing looks great! Maybe I will if it's still around in a few weeks. Big fan of Tiachung Spyderco quality.
Wow, I've never seen or heard of this like at all. I perhaps can see why it was discontinued given how weird it looks, but I also love how weird it is. I wonder what else will come out of the design vault.
Some things that pass shouldn't be resurrected... I'm sure these will sell like crazy with the sprint run crowd though. I have to wonder why they did this one versus doing more of the 20cv Kapara!? I mean, which one would have been the better seller?
It was a great knife, don't make assumptions on how it was if you haven't tried it. I'm still bummed I sold my original one. The 3V on it was tough and held an edge extremely well and took a while to sharpen. Kinda miss the dimples of the og one but I prefer the g10 color on this one.
This is one exclusive that is hard to top the original in anyway. It’s an awesome polarizing knife but the original is better in every way. If the price wasn’t north of $300 I might’ve pulled the trigger for nostalgia but this was a hard pass for me. Excited to see DLT running some one off discontinued exclusives in the future. Got a long list of spyderco’s I’d love to see some upgrades on. 🤞🏼Spyderco Kris
Just got mine today! Wondering how it will EDC? An older video showed some pretty poor action with the original, as you correctly assumed. In person the G10 scale is quite nice. Mine came with the tip just a tad towards the lock bar. It was already not far from drop shut and after backing the pivot screw off a few degrees the tip moved to dead center. Now the blade drops and shuts with minimal coaxing. The T9 pivot screw was very hard to back off without heat but it finally broke free. The detent needs to be heavier because the heavy blade drops out with just a light shake. I saw a video where a guy took a diamond bit to carefully enlarge the detent hole to increase the detent strength but said to not go too far or you will get detent lash. I am hesitant to do this. Also the bill of the pocket clip angles DOWN. What’s up with that?
For whatever it's worth, I got very lucky, mine is tuned exactly like I prefer it: easy open using whatever technique, and doesn't drop shut but will close smoothly with a slight push. Sometimes I think it's perfectly centered sometime I swear I can see a tiny, tiny diversion left. It does take a little more force to release the framelock than some other framelocks I have because the actual lockbar itself is so short, but it isn't "sticky" either it just takes a slightly harder push. Might be a problem for somebody like my mother who has arthritis. Very fidgety. A flipper variation would be interesting, but I think that'd be too much like other knives already on the market and I like this one not having the flipper tab. Agree on the clip, but mine has turned into a weekend carry and I tend to carry in a leather pocket case, though I leave the clip on. I said in my other comment, this is definitely not everyone's cup of tea but I am liking mine a lot.
I love my original Spydy TUFF 3V! It took a minute to grow on me but once it did the gawky, goofy ugly duckling became the gangly, oddball swan. I actually find beauty in its ugliness. Well, in its utility and capability i suppose. It is a helluva tough knife! I beat mine to death without a whimper. Id love to have the new DLT version but after paying just $177 for my original $315 for the less costly to manufacture DLT version is a little TUFF to swallow. We'll see.......
So you're telling me that Spyderco is charging more for this new dealer exclusive Tuff than the original Spyderco tuff even though this new dealer exclusive doesn't have the golf ball-like dimpling/machining like the original? Once again Spyderco delivers another lackluster dealer exclusive knife made without using higher-end materials or doing any extra details/machining!!!! I'm so sick and tired of Spyderco making sprint runs/dealer exclusives using basically the most inexpensive materials possible(BladeHQ/natural and jade G10) and with a lack of any extra details/machining like this new Tuff!!!!
I don't think you know what you're talking about. DLT paid for this exclusive and I guarantee they had something to say about what materials were used, color, expensive machining and not to do the dimples. BladeHQ's Natural G10 and CPM M4 sells out almost immediately every time they release a new variant, thousands of people have been satisfied with their purchases. Maybe you just need to stop paying attention to Spyderco if you're so unhappy about the decisions that are made by this highly successful and popular brand. They didn't get where they are now by listening to you. Also, everything costs more these days, what world are you living in.
@@bobroberts902 I actually use to be a big Spyderco fan but their lackluster sprint runs/dealer exclusive and C.Q.I. updates which always seem to just be fixing obviously issues that should have never existed on the original knife to begin with has become a real turn off. Instead of just taking several knife designs and continuously re-releasing them with just different blade steel and handle materials, I wish that Spyderco would actually come up with some new exciting knife designs for a change!!!

Awesome, I've been bitching about their production models being sold out, glad to see I have this power over the industry.
I have an original with the dimpled titanium and g10. I love how ugly it is. It's wonderful

@@holdernewtshesrearin5471 No. It is only that I am not sure it is obvious that Spyderco sometimes hides the steel lockbar insert.

I couldn't wait to get this knife! I prefer USEFUL BRUISER knives. They fit better in my 2xl glove hands
Spyderco needs to bring back the Tatanka
Oh my Goodness yes
A sight for sore eyes! Never thought they'd bring this one back.

That's almost as epic as the shadow ranger! 😜
Thanks for sharing 👍🏼😊
Oh you are funny 😄 I truly appreciate that in your videos 📹 kind Sir.
Unrelated but I wish the paramilitary 2 wasn’t sold out everywhere I need another one dammit! 😭
Manix 2 is better
