I counted Anthony, and you have now used the word "juggernaut" 17,324 times! Love you guys! Thanks for the insight and your opinion. Don't ever change Revzilla!!!!
Thanks Anthony, your the best reviewer. I've done 12k miles in an X-12 with stock pads and it, for me, is the best helmet I've ever ridden in. Never noticed the visibility issue when maxing out my blade. The only issue with the X-12, I found, was the spring that seals the visor relax after about 6k miles which lets is a wee breeze at speed and it really needs the air mask to get the best from the anti fog in all weathers. Compared with the X-14, the X-12 has better ventilation over the top of the head but the cheek vents in the X-14 really do work well, maybe too well, especially when I go beardless. Much prefer the visor latch on the X-12; the vents are so good I ride with it locked all the time. The difference in buffeting between the two is somewhat noticeable but really only after about 150mph but then again the X-12 was so much better than anything I had before that I never noticed what buffeting it did have. In the end I never bought one, only tried it for a weekend, I preferred the X-12. There's still life in her and I really didn't like the current range of colour schemes. In my opinion, if you find this helmet fits your head then the X-14 is the one to get.
I am currently using X12, rocking on it every single day since 2012. Had been commuting with it, the canyon with it, doing multiple track day with it and I have to say it is the best 700USD I have ever spend for motorcycle gear. I feel like the helmet is a special design just for me, it fit me so well since the beginning until now. Can wait to touch my hand on the new X14 and dreaming of swapping out my X12 as well. Great job, great review Revzilla.
City riding with even an empty backpack I feel a lot of buffeting the side to side swing catches air weird in the upright. 3/4, full tuck or in a race suit this thing is solid best way to describe it with track or canyon riding is I forget it’s on my head. The cheek vent isn’t enough to feel the breeze but it’s enough to not sweat kinda just don’t notice it which is better than noticing heat. Also if you ever debated the transition lens do it it’s amazing been riding with it for a good amount of time now
Anthony could sell us a used candy wrapper and we would buy it. Incredibly articulate and engaging, regardless of the item. What a skill set… his reviews are the best!
just bought this helmet and simply the best helmet i ever put on. it,s so comfortable and flow a ton of air to the helmet. i live in indonesia which hot as hell but i still can feela breeze of air flowing inside the helmet. compare to my other helmet (corsa r, corsair x, rpha 11, x802rr) X14 beat them all for both comfort and ventilation. my only complain is the cheekpad are a bit loose for me. it,s not as snug as i want it to be
Very great intro on this helmet. I've bought mine with Bradley Smith design. Noise reduction are awesome. Wind flow are great. Love the comfortable feel.
This is the best IF you're racing...I got to test one out and it's on the noisy side. I don't do track so I got an RF1200 which I found quieter. (results may vary from person)
yamaha426rider why is that cuz I have one on order, I have tried the x-14 on and it fits but the $$$ is a no way for my budget. Tell me if you have had a bad experience with Bell
Scott Wooley I'm currently looking at AGV k5 s and the shoei rf1200...my dad has the shoei gt air and it is very comfortable and nice but only reason I'm looking at the rf1200 is because its smaller shell lighter and hopefully just as comfortable but if you can spend $400 might as well spend $500 and get a high quality helmet if not the AGV k3 sv is around the $250 mark I think
I'm a huge Shoei fan and I currently own a X12 I'm hoping that Shoei will release more colors for the X14 before the riding season starts. I own a RC8R and would love to have a nice graphic with orange in it.
Don’t understand how SHOEI still not using any slip plane or multi density materials like MIPS or Bells Flex system. I love the look of the x14 and would have purchased it. I just felt the bell Race Star Flex offered more in terms of safety, and for the same price. Plus, shoei makes you pay $200 for their photochromic visor and Bell gives you one along with a clear…. Unless your racing with an organization that requires an FIM helmet, there is no reason to choose the x14 over the race star.
Why would the nxr be quieter than this? Everyone says the nxr is loud. I have a qwest and nothing to compare to. I dont want the nxr2 as the tab is in the middle, which is stupid...
+TheHappyRider It appears so due to the extended rear spoiler, but it's actually quite compact. The X-14 is the better track/race helmet, whereas the RF-1200 is the more usable street helmet. -DrewZilla
how would you compare this one to the agv corsa R? im buying one of these in 1-2 months and im not 100% decided yet, leaning towards shoei tho. Another thing that worries me a bit is that new ece 22.06 standard... dont want to pay 900€ and 2 monts later they will come out with shoei x spirit R or something...
Awesome review! I'm seriously looking into the X14 in a solid color to replace my EXO R2000 I purchased 3 years ago. I'm just curious/concerned about fitment from a size point of view compared to the X12. I tried on and walked around in a Medium X12 and I had a massive pressure point in the brow area. I tried on a Large and it fit perfectly. According to their size chart I would of been a Medium in the X12 and I'm wondering if it's more of the same in the X14. As a reference, my R2000 is a Medium.
I can't wear the X-12, but I can easily wear both the EXO-R2000 and the X-14 in medium, so I think you should be able to fit the X-14 in medium. -DrewZilla
Awesome thank you so much! This is a slick lid - I'll sacrifice the AirFit cheek-pad system to get the cheek pad venting and the pin-lock in the box. The anti-fog coating on both my R2000 visors leave something to be desired in those chilly fall morning commutes.
I ride a 2015 Multistrada 1200s. Sport touring with a sport windscreen. I do a lot of weekend canyon riding as well as thousands of miles of touring. Currently have an RF-1200, but am really thinking of moving up to this. I plan on doing some track days in the future with the multi haha. I love the black/red color scheme and the looks and features of this new helmet. Is it too much for me though? Is it going to drive me crazy sitting in an upright position for thousands of miles? Appreciate the help
+CaptainBeard714 Frankly, you're probably better off with your RF-1200 for touring. The RF-1200 is even a great track helmet, but it really shines as an all-around helmet. The X-14 is a bit heavier and really intended for the 3/4 to full-tuck racing position. It won't be that great for the Multistrada. -DrewZilla
will the chin straps from the x-14 install onto the rf-1200? the pads on the strap look like they provide cushion the entire length of the strap when fastened
Sure, but that doesn't give the whole picture of field of view. What really matters is where your eyes are in relation to the edges of the eyeport. All three have a similarly tall and wide field of view, but the Bells have notches in the lower corners to extend visibility for head checks a bit more (Both Bells use the same "Panovision" Face Shield). -DrewZilla
which has better venting between shoei xfourteen and HJC RPHA 11? i live in Indonesia atm and was curious which is better for the hot tropical weather between the two for daily use, thanks in advance
I usually commute with my bike on the city and I use ScalaRider with my Shoei Qwest, it fits perfectly because it has all the holes for the audio pack. Does this helmet also have it prepared for comm system? I know it's not the purpose of the helmet, just want to check...
+Rizky Djuwono Yes, indeed it will fit both the X-14 and the RF-1200. The CWR-F is the same as the CWR except that it's a "flat" shield (F for flat) that allows tear-offs to sit flush against the shield. -DrewZilla
Hey revzilla ! Is there any new graphic colors coming in shortly this year ? I consider the new Marquez replica because it will looks fresh for years to come rather than 2016 graphic. Thank you !
I have the x 2 spirit( the helmet that this one replaces) and it is so loud, I think it is the loudest helmet I have ever used and this guy says that he would not worry about the noise levels of this new helmet even though it is more ventilated then mine? it really, really sucks when riding on the streets and I really hope that the wings do work on the new one cuz the buffet thing is a pain in the ass also on mine Shoei. when i was using a more rounder helmet like Arai I never had any problem with the wind/turbulences or was it buffet that he called it? I regret not getting the nxr/rf1200 instead of the x2 spirit. this guys talk smells simply like sales pitch to me :P
+Pillokun We agree that the X-12 (your X-Spirit II) was known to be quite loud. The same was true of the RF-1100 (your XR-1100). The RF-1200/NXR shows that Shoei listened and really made it quieter than its predecessor, and the same is true of the X-14. We really found it to be quieter than the X-12. However, the RF-1200/NXR is still a bit quieter than the X-14. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla ah ok, what about the the wind grabbing the helmet when sitting upright, in otherwise riding a bit faster without beeing tucked in under the bikes fairing. (ridning on hihway/motorway)
As with some of the other commenters I am interested the idea of using this visor on my RF-1200. Anybody have an idea at around what speed the vortex enhancers start to have an effect?
I'm riding VFR1200F sport touring bike and struggling in between RF-1200 and X-14. Do you have any review when using under raining day? The RF-1200 seem like is better for me for daily use but saw some review that the side expose liner/padding may absorb water during raining day. Can you advise?
It takes a lot of rain riding for the neck roll padding to absorb water, but it can happen. If rain riding is your main concern, you might prefer the X-14. -DrewZilla
What is the shell size for SX S M L XL order? How does this shell size compare to the x12 or arai X, did it get bigger or smaller? I prefer a small shell size, or am i going to look like a bobble head?
+Seawall R6 It's similarly-sized to the X-12 and Corsair X. The shell breakdown is XS-S, M, L, and XL-2XL. The X-12 breakdown was XS, S-M, L, XL, and 2XL. Therefore, the size XS and XL in the X-14 may appear slightly larger, while the size small will be smaller. With the new rear spoilers, the X-14 does appear a bit longer front to back than the X-12. -DrewZilla
Would this be a good helmet for a beginner rider who isn't gonna go into the track but will be riding in the 3/4 position to get to work on a daily basis?
Probably not. The benefit is really only experienced at the track. Instead, I'd recommend the more affordable RF-1200 or RF-SR. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmets *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-rf-sr-helmet-solid
What is the size difference between the x-14 and the rf-1200? The x-14 has 5 shell sized and rf-1200 has 4. I usually wear an XS, so will I notice a size difference? Thank you.
The X-14 actually uses 4 shells and 5 EPS liners, so the sizing is the same as the RF-1200. The main difference is that the X-14 rear spoiler makes the helmet slightly longer. Otherwise you shouldn't notice a size difference. -DrewZilla
+Emmanuel Mata For a full-face helmet, many of us here find the Shoei RF-1200 to be quietest. In general, the quietest helmets we find are the modular Schuberth C3 Pro and Shoei Neotec. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmets *www.revzilla.com/schuberth-c3-pro-helmet *www.revzilla.com/shoei-neotec-helmet
I'm suffering some annoying buffeting with my RF 1200 / NXR depending on wind direction / speed; do you think those "turbulators"on the CWR-F shield would make a difference? Ow and, is there any difference between the pinlock inserts between the CWR-1 and CWR-F?
It's possible the turbulators might help, but there's no guarantee. Also, yes, the Pinlock inserts are different between the CWR-1 and CWR-F. See the links below. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-cwr-1-evo-pinlock-lens-insert *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-cwr-f-pinlock-evo-lens-insert
No, it isn't intended for auto racing, and while it's Snell-rated, that's the Snell _motorcycle_ standard. There is a separate Snell safety standard for auto racing helmets, and I know many racing organizations require Snell Auto-rated helmets. If your racing organization allows this helmet, though, then it would be fine. The RF-1200 would be better for upright to 3/4 riding though. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmets
I just got mine the marquez edition and I got the transition lense it's a little tight fits good but it's hard to get off will it break in? And what size pads should I order for it I need to make the fit a bit loser the helmet is a size small thanks
With a race fit, it should be very snug and hard to get off, but yes, it will break in. I would wait awhile before considering thinner pads. They do loosen up a lot. If you need thinner pads in a couple months, then you'd go from the stock 35mm to the thinner 31mm. Again, wear it for a couple months before deciding on thinner pads. -DrewZilla
Hi Just after getting my Shoei x spirit iii replacement from M to S and it's tight in only one specific spot on the side central pad s9 lower stitches. It sims to be a bit more material used there and it's driving me mad. Any advices please? Difrent sizes could be thinner in size? Thanks
You can get replacement pads for the sides that are a bit thinner, but keep the same top and front pieces. -Kraus-e *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-x-14-center-pad-sides
What size would you suggest for me? With a tape measure per your instructions, I'm right about 59.8cm. With fitted caps, I'd typically wear 7 1/2 when haircut fresh, but pressure accumulates as hair grows so some hats are 7 5/8. My current helmet is an Arai RXQ size XL, feels great still although sometimes feels wobbly? The X14 being a race fit, should I try for the L or would you suggest a XL?
I would recommend going with the LG. While helmets can be angled for a particular riding position and aerodynamic profile, they aren't meant to be sized up or down. You're right on the money for a LG. Keep in mind, a helmet will always feel snug at first and break in over time! -TeamZilla Chris
Ok so I've went to a Cycle Gear and tried out a LG. I think my head is more round/neutral than intermediate oval because as soon as I put it on I felt 2 pressure points at the upper temporals. However, all the other head parts felt pretty snug and not overly tight. They don't have an XL but would you suggest I stick to LG and somehow adjust the temporal pads or let it break in? Or should I just go up to an XL?
That sounds more like a shape compatibility issue rather than size. The most responsible recommendation is to try something like an Arai Corsair X rather than sizing up the X-14. Arai helmets tend to fit rounder heads better. -TeamZilla Chris *www.revzilla.com/arai-corsair-x-helmets
How do you know which Shoei models come with the Chromatic or Transitions lenses? I loved my Bell Qualifier with Transitions and it recently just saved my life in my motorcycle accident I had last Friday night. Thanks to Jesus. I want to get that Bell again or if there was a Shoei with Transitions I may spring for that type. Thanks 🙏👍
Easy: none of the Shoei helmet come w/ the photochromic shields included in the box. You would need to add the shield on (if available for that model) as an accessory. They do not include it like Bell and some other brands.
@@RevZilla Thanks for the reply. Ouch. Lots of costs. I'm thinking 🤔 of just going with the Bell. It just literally saved my life last Friday night when I was hit by a car. I was making a right turn in an intersection on a 2 lane road and had a lady in a car try and pass me on the right to go straight. I ended up in the hospital and thank Jesus no broken bones or anything too bad. The helmet saved my life. Thank God I was wearing Dainese gloves cause my plastic knuckles were ground down on the gloves and had Bilt overpants and a Tour Master jacket. The paramedics cut all of my gear off while I was on the ground making sure I was ok. No cuts or scratches except major bruising and soreness. Now I'll be looking for protection again. Thanks for the reply. I may still go with a Shoei but we will see. It's never too much to pay for the best especially if it saves your life . Remember, "We don't dress for the ride, we dress for the slide." Jeff - Sunny Central Florida
+Kham Vang With the large amount of adjustability with the head liner, it's possible you could wear the X-14. Personally, I fit the Arai Corsair V, Corsair X, as well as the Shoei X-14. -DrewZilla
Yes, as a race helmet, it is louder than the Qwest touring helmet. The X-14 is optimized for high speed stability and ventilation in a full-tuck position on a race/track bike. I'd recommend the Shoei RF-1200, Shoei GT-Air, or new Shoei RF-SR. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmets *www.revzilla.com/shoei-gt-air-helmet *www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-sr-helmets
RevZilla Got it, thanks again! I usually ride my bike on the city during the week, and on the weekend I always hit the road, traveling and speeding up (aroung 100mph ~ 150mph). I was thinking about GT-Air before I see the X-14, in your opinion, GT-Air is going to be my best option? I'm thinking not only on noise, but on protection as well. I'm doing this question because of someone I heard telling that these helmets (GT / Quest, etc) can broke if you fall on high speeds, and that racing helmets are highly recommended. What's your opinion?
The X-14 is louder than the RF-1200 but also has a bit more ventilation. Both helmets work for street and track riding, but the X-14 is mainly a track helmet, while the RF-1200 is mainly a street helmet. -DrewZilla
does this come with the pinlock insert or do you have to buy it separate? My Xlite and AGVs came with them in the box...hopefully it's the same case with shoei
is is obvious or labeled anywhere telling you which position you want to move the snaps to if you want the helmet to have better vision when in the tuck race position?
You want to have the liner rotated forward in the helmet, so that when the helmet is on, the helmet is therefore rotated upward and backward in relation to the liner. -DrewZilla
Thank you.. Does it tell you which position to put the tabs in to acquire the liner into the forward of the helmet as you described? my fear is that i will take it apart and not know which tab positions to use.
So: the X-14, the RF-1200, or the GT-Air? I've watched all 3 reviews, and it's hard to decide. :-) I'm riding a CBR1100XX and I'm tall-ish (6'4"). I also wear glasses. I find myself really having to crank my head back to see out my current helmet, and then I'm most of the time looking over the top of my glasses...and being nearsighted, that's no good. I commute about 15 minutes each way 3 to 5 times a week, do aggressive lunch-time and weekend rides, and plan to start doing track days. I don't have dedicated prescription sun glasses; my normal glasses get dark in sunlight...but not behind a UV resistant shield. And...it gets to 105F-110F regularly here. Thoughts?
The X-14 will be best for track riding, and you might want to get an additional dark smoke shield for sunny days. You could also get the Shoei Photochromic Transitions shield, which will automatically darken in bright light. For track days, you may want to invest in some contact lenses. That's really the only way we've found to avoid the "looking over glasses" issue. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-x-14-helmets *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-cwr-1-photochromic-pinlock-ready-face-shield
Thanks for the reply! After asking this I continued with my research and found the photochromic face shield, which I would *absolutely* buy if I got the x-14. I really like the idea of contacts for track days...thanks for that tip! I also found the Bell Race Star and Race Star Pro reviews. :-) So next question: same situation, but now: x-14, or Race Star (or Pro)? It seems the Bell's have better visibility, but I'm not sure about how well comms will fit in them...I forgot to mention that I do want comms and am looking into the Fusar comms so I don't have a unit hanging outside my helmet any more. Thoughts? Thanks!
I too was looking at the Bell Star but when I tried both of these helmets on in the store I found that the Bell's LG size was REALLY tight and the XL was a little loose (on my head anyway). The X-14, meanwhile, fits absolutely perfectly* and is very comfortable (the Bell is comfortable once on but getting it on was a chore). Ended up going for the X-14 which is a little more money than the Star but its a fantastic helmet overall. The best thing is the ventilation and the noise levels which are very high and very low respectively! *One note on size, the helmet fits perfectly but I have noticed at highway speeds that it tends to brush up against my nose which is annoying. Usually I can just adjust it slightly down so that my nose will go over the top of the chin bar in this situation but just thought I'd point it out...
I ride mt 07, I just bought shoei x spirit 3 ( x14 ) and it fit with my head. So,I notice that there has some wind noise come in the helmet from under my neck . Is it normal? Thank you
I just bought this helmet moving up from a gt air. I currently run a sena smh10 and I forgot to ask the shoei rep when I was talking to him if this helmet will fit the headset. I really hope it does as I absolutely have to have the sena. any idea if it will fit?
I tried one of these on and it was tight around my crown, will that tightness go away after a while ? I usually fit an arai pretty good but I wanna change over to shoei
Helmets will loosen up a bit, but you should wear a helmet at home or at a store for at least 25-30 minutes. If you get enough pressure for it to feel really uncomfortable or give a headache, then you might want to get a slightly thinner center pad. Luckily, Shoei offers that. It's like going up a 1/4 to 1/2 a size depending on where you need a bit more room. You can swap the front, rear, top, and/or side pads around the crown. See the link below for details. -DrewZilla *bit.ly/3ackJKd
Question please: You said the RF-1200 Visor fits on the X-14. Does it work the other way too? I want to install the X-14 visor on my RF-1200 to be able to install the tear-offs for the track :)
+XZINO911X Yes, it will work the other way as well. The CWR shields on both the RF-1200 and X-14 us the same QR-E Base plate system. The only difference other than the tear-off posts is the fact that it is a Flat shield that comes as standard on the X-14 to ensure a cleaner fit for the tear-offs once installed.
I ride a street fighter and currently own a x-12 I'd like to upgrade to the x-14 but am getting scared away from people saying not a good street helmet?
The X-14 is actually a much better street helmet than the X-12, so if you like your X-12, then you can be comfortable in the X-14. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-x-14-helmets
The RF1400 would be the best option in a full face: www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1400-helmets For a modular, they offer the Neotec 2: www.revzilla.com/shoei-neotec-2-helmets They both are designed with touring in mind and are great for logging long hours. -Zack
+Themayseffect According to our site, we expect the Bradley 3 graphic to be available mid-March. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-x-14-bradley-3-helmet
The ventilation is also good for the X-14, but for even more ventilation, I still recommend the HJC RPHA 11 Pro. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/hjc-rpha-11-pro-helmets
That's the previous Alpinestars Atem, now being replaced by the Atem v3. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-atem-jacket *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-atem-v3-jacket
@Jason Bourne I have the same question. Street wise riding a gsxr in Florida which would be the better helmet, X-14 or Corsair X. They look pretty much tied from all the reviews I've read and seen, the Corsair X seems to flow better.
It's really aerodynamic, so it's possible. It all depends on your particular bike, fairing, and your own height. The X-14, RF-1200, and RF-SR are all pretty good for reduced buffeting. -DrewZilla
I appreciate the feedback Drew, I'll give this helmet a shot in hopes for the best. Currently have a Shoei GT-Air that I love but is a few years old & does little for buffeting. Much appreciated
Hey! I just bought his helmet and I hate to sound so dense but I can't figure out the proper way to store this in the bag it came with. Every position I put it in seems wrong haha. Any help would be great! Thanks
This guy is such a great salesman... the kind who is informed and sharp and doesn't trip on words or concepts.
Love the addition of footage of the helmet in use.
I counted Anthony, and you have now used the word "juggernaut" 17,324 times! Love you guys! Thanks for the insight and your opinion. Don't ever change Revzilla!!!!
Now you have to count the number of times he's said "bad boy." -DrewZilla
I recently bought this helmet as my first serious helmet and oh boy, I didn't know it had so much customization :O
Wow, I was set on the AGV Corsa. Now I have a tough decision after watching this review.
DZigomanis get a Bell race star helmet for @ $400 new
yamaha426rider why is that cuz I have one on order, I have tried the x-14 on and it fits but the $$$ is a no way for my budget. Tell me if you have had a bad experience with Bell

Gonna wait until reviews come out for the new bell pro star before deciding on what my next helmet is going to be. This x14 seems awesome as hell tho
I am waiting to see what you guys have to say about the new Bell Star Pro coming out very soon.
I'm a huge Shoei fan and I currently own a X12 I'm hoping that Shoei will release more colors for the X14 before the riding season starts. I own a RC8R and would love to have a nice graphic with orange in it.
+Pmason718 We don't expect any more colors or graphics for this season, so you may have to wait a bit for orange accents. -DrewZilla
Unless your racing with an organization that requires an FIM helmet, there is no reason to choose the x14 over the race star.
best do it all race helmet. Feels equally well on road as well as on the track.
just got mine today. it looks amazing! not dasipointed.
My tax return couldn't have came in at a better time 😁
Hi, i had a Yamaha FJ-09 and i love this helmet, but sometimes i feel it's to much for me, appreciate comments...
You may prefer the RF-1200 for street riding. -DrewZilla

Why would the nxr be quieter than this? Everyone says the nxr is loud. I have a qwest and nothing to compare to. I dont want the nxr2 as the tab is in the middle, which is stupid...
My next helmet will be this...
+Hemanth Amar looks bigger than the current RF
+TheHappyRider It appears so due to the extended rear spoiler, but it's actually quite compact. The X-14 is the better track/race helmet, whereas the RF-1200 is the more usable street helmet. -DrewZilla
RevZilla do you have reviews of MT helmets?
Hemanth Amar MT?
TheHappyRider Yeah MT
I had to laugh when you said "cool your cheeks." Great review and smart for Shoei to share visors with the RF1200
Are they going to release a new/updated version? Its been 6 years since they have introduced the X14
how would you compare this one to the agv corsa R? im buying one of these in 1-2 months and im not 100% decided yet, leaning towards shoei tho.
The anti-fog coating on both my R2000 visors leave something to be desired in those chilly fall morning commutes.
only if the Canadian dollars wasn't so low compare to the US dollar. the helmet is right up there on my list
-DrewZilla
Does that mean there might be an updated model soon?
What a great Review!!! Please give a review for Nitek P1
The MT helmets Blade 2 also has difusers
Stunning review, well done
will the chin straps from the x-14 install onto the rf-1200? the pads on the strap look like they provide cushion the entire length of the strap when fastened
My head size is 54 cm, should I go for XS or SM?
Going by the chart it’s XS, since I’m buying it online, I’m concerned if it’s going to be too tight.
At 54cm, definitely XS. Small is 55-56cm. You really want the helmet to have a snug, firm fit. -DrewZilla
*bit.ly/ShoeiX-14
I have noticed that the shell sizes for the xl and xxl are the same... does the xl give you a bobble head or does the xxl use the xl’s shell?
Do we have *widths* and *heights* of the *shields* for *Shoei X-14, Bell Star MIPS DLX* and *Bell Race Star Flex DLX?*
The RPHA 11 has better venting, so if you need good venting, it's better for your use. -DrewZilla
So is this a good helmet for cold weather?
What white jacket with the fluro green accents is that
I usually commute with my bike on the city and I use ScalaRider with my Shoei Qwest, it fits perfectly because it has all the holes for the audio pack. Does this helmet also have it prepared for comm system? I know it's not the purpose of the helmet, just want to check...
Yes, the X-14 has speaker pockets for a comm system. -DrewZilla
Thanks for the info, and sorry, I'm watching the entire video now, and I just got to the part you confirm that.
Great review, good job.
if the CWR transition shield for RF-1200 fits the X-14, will the CWR-F race shield from X-14 fit the RF-1200?
+Rizky Djuwono Yes, indeed it will fit both the X-14 and the RF-1200. The CWR-F is the same as the CWR except that it's a "flat" shield (F for flat) that allows tear-offs to sit flush against the shield. -DrewZilla
Hey revzilla ! Is there any new graphic colors coming in shortly this year ? I consider the new Marquez replica because it will looks fresh for years to come rather than 2016 graphic. Thank you !
I believe all the spring graphics have already been released, so we probably won't see new graphics until September or October. -DrewZilla
+Pillokun In an upright riding position, the RF-1200 is still a bit quieter than the X-14. -DrewZilla
Is the visor has anti scratch and anti fog?
hi for road use is better shoei rf1200 or shoei x14?
tall chin on shoei x14?
The RF-1200 is generally better for road use, as it tends to be quieter. As for the tall chin reference, I'm not sure what you mean. -DrewZilla
Does that mean the field of vision is the same as the RF-1200 without adjusting the inner liner ?
No, as stock, the X-14 is still slightly more biased upward. -DrewZilla
When is the x15 going to be released?
Probably not for a while since this was released in 2016
ok, here we go, let's here about those nuances!
As with some of the other commenters I am interested the idea of using this visor on my RF-1200. Anybody have an idea at around what speed the vortex enhancers start to have an effect?
+Gerberbaby922 The effect is incremental, so even from a low speed, they function a little bit. As you increase speed, they work more. -DrewZilla
-DrewZilla

Can you review the skulky helmet with the build-in cam.
+Yrral Mariano Only once it's widely available and only if we decide to carry it. -DrewZilla
Do you guys ship to the Philippines?
What is the size difference between the x-14 and the rf-1200? The x-14 has 5 shell sized and rf-1200 has 4. I usually wear an XS, so will I notice a size difference? Thank you.
The X-14 actually uses 4 shells and 5 EPS liners, so the sizing is the same as the RF-1200. The main difference is that the X-14 rear spoiler makes the helmet slightly longer. Otherwise you shouldn't notice a size difference. -DrewZilla
Awesome, thank you.
so what would be the best quietest quality helmet you guys would recommend?
+Emmanuel Mata For a full-face helmet, many of us here find the Shoei RF-1200 to be quietest. In general, the quietest helmets we find are the modular Schuberth C3 Pro and Shoei Neotec. -DrewZilla

Riding a gsxr in Florida which would be a better street helmet, the X-14 or Corsair X?
Both can be used for street and track, but you might find the Arai vents just a bit better. -DrewZilla
-DrewZilla

Thx, that's valuable information.
Would this helmet be suitable for auto road racing as well? I'm looking for a helmet that could do both riding in upright and 3/4, and auto racing.
-DrewZilla

-DrewZilla
RevZilla thanks alot and it a really loosened up and fits perfect thanks alot it's my favorite helmet ever
Hi
Just after getting my Shoei x spirit iii replacement from M to S and it's tight in only one specific spot on the side central pad s9 lower stitches. It sims to be a bit more material used there and it's driving me mad. Any advices please? Difrent sizes could be thinner in size?
Thanks
You can get replacement pads for the sides that are a bit thinner, but keep the same top and front pieces. -Kraus-e

is the neckroll removable?
Thank you for great review.
Just wandering does x 14 have plan for making norick abe or dajiro kato version?
Thank you.
We do not know whether Shoei will make Abe or Kato versions of the X-14. -DrewZilla
-TeamZilla Chris

Remember, "We don't dress for the ride, we dress for the slide."

I want to get out of ARAI and try the shoei's, will this helmet work well with a round oval head shape?
+Kham Vang With the large amount of adjustability with the head liner, it's possible you could wear the X-14. Personally, I fit the Arai Corsair V, Corsair X, as well as the Shoei X-14. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla DrewZilla, were you able to slide your glasses in easily? Just asking because I wear glasses and it's similar to yours. Thanks!
+Kham Vang Yes, I can easily fit glasses with the X-14. For reference, I wear Warby Parker "Chandler" frames. -DrewZilla
Compared to Shoei Qwest, is it louder on high speed wind? Thinking on upright position on a highway...
-DrewZilla

The X-14 is better for the high speeds you're referencing, so you may want to get the X-14. -DrewZilla
is shoes considered the best of the best?
@revzilla How does this bad boy compare to the RF-1200 ?

Summer
Overall street & some track, looking for a helmet for my ninja 650.
The X-14 is louder than the RF-1200 but also has a bit more ventilation. Both helmets work for street and track riding, but the X-14 is mainly a track helmet, while the RF-1200 is mainly a street helmet. -DrewZilla
x14, xspirit Is the shell the same size? is the weight only different?
Same helmet different names for different countries
does this come with the pinlock insert or do you have to buy it separate?
My Xlite and AGVs came with them in the box...hopefully it's the same case with shoei
+tekniqs Yes, it includes the Pinlock insert. -DrewZilla
is is obvious or labeled anywhere telling you which position you want to move the snaps to if you want the helmet to have better vision when in the tuck race position?
You want to have the liner rotated forward in the helmet, so that when the helmet is on, the helmet is therefore rotated upward and backward in relation to the liner. -DrewZilla
Thank you.. Does it tell you which position to put the tabs in to acquire the liner into the forward of the helmet as you described? my fear is that i will take it apart and not know which tab positions to use.
No, it doesn't tell you, but it's pretty straightforward. It should come with it in the standard, non-race position. -DrewZilla
So: the X-14, the RF-1200, or the GT-Air? I've watched all 3 reviews, and it's hard to decide. :-)
I'm riding a CBR1100XX and I'm tall-ish (6'4").
-DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/shoei-x-14-helmets
Thanks for the reply! After asking this I continued with my research and found the photochromic face shield, which I would *absolutely* buy if I got the x-14. I really like the idea of contacts for track days...thanks for that tip!
I also found the Bell Race Star and Race Star Pro reviews. :-)
So next question: same situation, but now: x-14, or Race Star (or Pro)?
Thank you
Yes, that can be normal, but you might actually need/want thicker cheek pads. That can help reduce wind noise. -DrewZilla
hello @Revzilla do you think would be a bad choice to ride a 2005 Aprilia Tuono 1000R with this helmet? thanks
No, that is not a bad choice. The X-14 would be a very good choice for a Tuono. -DrewZilla
*www.revzilla.com/shoei-x-14-helmets
I just bought this helmet moving up from a gt air. I currently run a sena smh10 and I forgot to ask the shoei rep when I was talking to him if this helmet will fit the headset. I really hope it does as I absolutely have to have the sena. any idea if it will fit?
+James Mccormick Yes, the X-14 will fit the Sena SMH10, so there's no need to worry. -DrewZilla
-DrewZilla

What jacket is he wearing in this video?
Question please:
You said the RF-1200 Visor fits on the X-14. Does it work the other way too? I want to install the X-14 visor on my RF-1200 to be able to install the tear-offs for the track :)
+XZINO911X yes, both use the CWR-1 visor.
Thanks gentlemen!
I ride a street fighter and currently own a x-12 I'd like to upgrade to the x-14 but am getting scared away from people saying not a good street helmet?
The X-14 is actually a much better street helmet than the X-12, so if you like your X-12, then you can be comfortable in the X-14. -DrewZilla

Can the Sena 20S speakers actually fit inside the cutouts?

+GXXERGINGER I had a RF1200 before I wrecked. Unfortunatley the speakers were just a tad too big to sit flush inside the helmet.
+RevZilla Do they fit flush or more like the RF1200 where they fit, but not flush?
James Newman I would actually like to know this as well. A more flush speaker would be nice!
Does this helmet flow a lot of air? I am looking for a helmet that is snell and flows as much air as possible.

Shoei X-14 or the new AGV Corsa R ?
Both are excellent race/track helmets, but we find the X-14 is a bit nicer when riding on the street. -DrewZilla
@Jason Bourne I have the same question. Street wise riding a gsxr in Florida which would be the better helmet, X-14 or Corsair X. They look pretty much tied from all the reviews I've read and seen, the Corsair X seems to flow better.
I've heard this helmet will also reduce buffeting on cruiser style bikes with a fairing, i.e. Indian/Harley types... any truth to this?
It's really aerodynamic, so it's possible. It all depends on your particular bike, fairing, and your own height. The X-14, RF-1200, and RF-SR are all pretty good for reduced buffeting. -DrewZilla
I appreciate the feedback Drew, I'll give this helmet a shot in hopes for the best. Currently have a Shoei GT-Air that I love but is a few years old & does little for buffeting.
Much appreciated
I’m seriously asking ? Are those Bluetooth ? I’m looking to buy my first motorcycle and gear
Really wish 2 years later the price was the same.
Hey! I just bought his helmet and I hate to sound so dense but I can't figure out the proper way to store this in the bag it came with. Every position I put it in seems wrong haha. Any help would be great! Thanks
We tend to store Shoei helmets with the bag closure over the helmet opening, but it's really not a big deal how you put it in the bag. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla thanks for the reply. I was just curious because it has the flat side where the logo is.
Are you really selling Revzilla to Cycle Gear? No more product reviews by Anthony?
woah, what?
I hope not unless it benefits tremendously
+Sam Hooper Cycle Gear is reported to be purchasing Revzilla for $400-500 million. Great news for the owners, not so great news for the rest of us.

If cycle gear buys revzilla this will be the death of revzilla! I so don't want this to happen!
