Yes. If Amorim is going to replicate what he did at Sporting, then we have players who can execute it on the ground. The most problematic area in this is wingbacks I think. If Amorim is able to solve it, I think United have a good chance of entering the top 4 because the league is wide open. United are now 13 th but the difference between 3 and 13 is 4 points....
As someone who watches a team with a 3-4-3 every week, this is the best summary of what Amorim will do. All other United fan big channel videos have no idea what they’re talking about
Yeah, I'm a little reserved in my excitement. On paper it looks like a great fit. But regardless of the system or who plays where, the key will be Amorim to change their psychology and make them work hard consistently and pick the right team based on who is up for it that week.
Yea... ETH thought the same though, and he even sent the players on a 13km run after one of the first losses to make them work harder. And it worked for a while, but I think the players eventually wore him down, and he ran out of ideas and got stuck in a rut. But it looks like we have more options nowadays, and Amorim could probably afford to drop some players if they start getting lazy.
@JoeBob79569 I think Ten Hag just focused to much on the technical side of the game and when the results don't come the players lose faith. He didn't seem personable enough either to win them back, something Amorim looks to have in abundance. I also think Ten Hag was a touch 'unlucky' in that he never really got to show what he wanted the team to be consistently. He clearly had a plan of playing a Mount, Mainoo and Fernandes midfield in his 2nd season and injuries pretty much meant that never happened, and once results went bad he had to resort to playing safer like after his first 2 games. That was highlighted when he came out with the 'we won't play like my ajax team' quote.
The good thing is that's what he was largely praised with at Sporting. He managed to get really good player buy-in and disciplined players that play to the system.
@@magikarpsplashy Yes, I agree. I think he could be charismatic when he wanted, but it was maybe a bit forced, and he probably often came across as grumpy and strict. The only potential problem with Antony as a defender has and will be the consistency of workrate. @18:00 - it's true, man utd actually, without injuries, does have squad depth. Each opposition has a different set up, hence it helps that Man Utd will not always need to rely on that 'first eleven' approach. football has evolved over the years, therefore squad depth is necessary. anyway great vid Adam.
Anthony will be revived because he is a great player. As a Sporting fan, I watched Anthony completely destroy Amorim's defenders a couple years ago when Ajax went to Lisbon to win 0-5 so I know he has that in him, it's just a matter of getting his confidence back
United fan here. What I've learned from the past 25 years of being a fan of the club is that overhyping up someone new to the club leads to anger and disappointment most of the time down the line. Managers, players, hell even assistant managers like RVN and probably the new vendor in OT's concession stand. 😂 Personally, I am on the fence about Amorim initially, but he seems to be an energetic manager unlike anyone we have had since SAF. I feel like his biggest strength will be with man management, while his tactics needs a couple of games to be fully assessed. Whatever happens, I will enjoy the ride wherever he will take us when all is said and done.
The different 11s here are endless. I’d love to see both Bruno and Mount play in the 10. But at the same time it could be Zirkzee paired with Amad. It’s a beautiful game.
Not even a mention of Casemiro, Eriksen, or Lindeloff, who are all clever decent players capable of operating in various roles. Plus exciting youth coming through in the shape of Collyer, Gore, Fletcher, and Kone… United could really be spoilt for options if Amorim can coach his ideas successfully.
At least with the current United squad Amorim can trial and error a few different players to see if they work for his system, like swapping in Mount or Zirkzee into one of the 10 roles in place of Bruno to see how they perform there, or seeing how Amad, Antony or another player fare in the inverted winger/10 role. There's a couple of players who will probably struggle to adapt to fit the system though and Rashford is likely going to be 1 of them.
Onana De Ligt, Evans, Martinez Mazraoui, Ugarte, Casemiro, Dalot Mount, Bruno Hojlund At some point in the season I wouldn’t be surprised if Casemiro moves into defence for a few games
Onana, Shaw, Evans, Deligt Mazraoui and Antony Casemiro and Ugarte Bruno and Amad Rasmus Note: If Martinez is fit he will start Mazraoui can play anywhere in the defence but you wouldn't want to play him for the first time as a CB, LCB or RCB in your first game he might make errors although he is such a good player Antony has the best defensive stats as a winger in the EPL he can play that role because the LWB receives with his back against the opposition cuts inside or plays into midfield or across to the other flank Dalot can't do that and the LWB is usually a left footer because the combination of play is different on the other end. Mainoo is not match fit, over time he will start Bruno and Amad are tailored for this Rasmus can hold the ball and serve as an outlet. Ipswich will press us knowing fully well we can be vulnerable playing in our own half. Long balls will be played and Rashford has 0 holdup play he can't play with his back to goal. If he plays we will lose lots of possession however there will be oppositions that will suit Rashford style of play.
If you are expecting united to have Wingbacks getting to the byline and cutting back for Hojlund, then you can't expect Dalot to be LWB and Antony at RWB. If you flip their sides then maybe, but both will just be cut inside merchants in the formation you have laid out there
The thing is, he will play as per the player’s he’s got. It will be a 3x4x3 yes, but if he plays with a pushing forward, if he plays with wingers/CAM, if the midfielders play a certain way, it will all depend on what he sees the squad can provide. So, not so sure about that.
This is why I felt it strange when the players are bought for a quick transition team but not a ball possession style that might suit Ten Hag. It's like Ten Hag is just a placeholder seat warmer
I'm Portuguese and I've never seen a central defender moving up into midfield in a team coached by Ruben Amorim. One of the wingers is more defensive and the team forms a line of 4 at the back..... Teams automatically switch from 3-4-3 to 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 during the game.
I’d love to see him pull a conte and convert Anthony to a wingback similar to Moses for chelsea but I’d argue if you want Anthony to put cut backs and crosses in he’ll have to play on the left
Also think that Bruno and Amorim being Portuguese will help with translation/implementation of ideas. I think language barrier plays a huge role in ideas taking time to set in
United players better be prepared to run and press because Amorim, he demands speed and intensity above all, if some of those players think that he'll cut some slack they better think again. Oh and prepare for some surprises, because he often takes players from their position, or the position they think they're good at and puts them on a completely different role, so yeah it will be nice to watch. January will be a month with some surprises I'm afraid.
Antony doing good as a wingback would still be half the product he could be. At Ajax he would pretty often cut in in the middle of the pitch and carry it like a center attacking midfielder. The rest would have to provide the width for him and get in the box so he's the one making the throughball. That could never ever happen at Man United with Bruno in it. Often he tried it, they were very much not on the same page at all, both waiting for the other to attack the box.
What's fascinating is going back to the video of Why United had to Sack Ten Hag, it is clear both Amorim and ETH are trying to do the same thing, play a very similar system. The only major difference is personnel with ETH using unsuited players due to injuries. Amorim has all the players back. Does this therefore all boil down to whether Amorim can communicate his ideas to these players in the same way ETH could not? And what will happen when we have another injury crisis?
Wow such a total football video- analysts diving in on the phone, jumping into a take, all while one central analyst does all the work and exudes gravitas and wisdom, with just a hint of banter. In summary: Clery for Match of the Day? Unrelated, but why do I now crave a curry?
Bruno has to be the No. 10. He is so much better, creating and scoring. We need him forward if we want to score. That was the reason why we were not scoring goals under EtH. Have Bruno, Mount, Amad, Rashford and Zirkzee as the 2 No. 10s. Rashford and Hojlund can be ST options. Rashy scored 30 goals as a ST 2 years ago.
Realistic team on Sunday: Onana RWB: Dalot CBs: Yoro De Ligt Martinez LWB: Shaw (you forgot about him a little bit- understandably!) CMs: Ugarte Mainoo 10s: Bruno Amad Striker: Hojlund
He didn't forget Shaw, he said he'd be cover in the left center back role and tbh that'd suit him more than Lwb because his body just can't handle the load that role entails
What do you think about Antony at left wing back vs right? My assumption is the two 10s probably need width and he being left-foot-only probably fits better on the left side than right.
I believe the 3421 is a shape that, along with a 4321 and various slight versions of each such as 3412, 4312 and so on, will come to be the most popular in the game, at least until the next guy comes along and comes up with a system that can beat it. Also: We have transfer windows for signing and selling players but not managers. Should we include the hiring and firing of managers and head coaches in the windows? Aren't we just giving the big clubs a loophole to turn things around in the middle of the season; They can't signing a player until January but they can get rid of the manager? Should we force clubs to hold on to whatever manager they've got until the next window?
If we play Rashford or Garnacho as an inside forward, Zirkzee should start in the no. 9 position. He is built for this role, considering Rashford and Garnacho will be the primary goal threat.
That’s absolutely not how we want to approach the games. The whole point of this tactic is that the 9 is the primary goalscorer. Rashford and Garnacho can score but neither should be the primary goalscorer as we’ve seen.
Onana Martinez De Ligt Evans Antony Ugarte Mainoo Mazraoui Fernandes Mount Rashford The Antonaissaince and revitalised Mount could happen! Especially because Amorim has had more time with them, and Mount has played well in the formation in the past, that should allow him to impress upon the coaches in training. Edit: Is Yoro fit? I'm asking because I dunno
@@mumindanmallam He's fit but they won't rush him
Garnacho won't track back. He offers nothing defensively. Also Mazraoui >>> Dalot any day. Dalot is bang average.
@@lsebk1 your recency bias is too strong
Onana
De Ligt - Evans - Licha Martinez
Antony - Ugarte - Mainoo - Dalot
Fernandes - Garnacho
Hojlund
Also, predicted lineup:
GK: Onana
CBs: Yoro, Delight, Martinez
WBs: Dalot, Mazraoui
M: Ugarte (BWM), Casemiro (B2B)
10s: Fernandes, Amad
Striker: Hojlund
This would be my preferred starting line up too
@18:00 - it's true, man utd actually, without injuries, does have squad depth. Each opposition has a different set up, hence it helps that Man Utd will not always need to rely on that 'first eleven' approach. football has evolved over the years, therefore squad depth is necessary. anyway great vid Adam.
Anthony will be revived because he is a great player. As a Sporting fan, I watched Anthony completely destroy Amorim's defenders a couple years ago when Ajax went to Lisbon to win 0-5 so I know he has that in him, it's just a matter of getting his confidence back
@0:18 : "Vinegar strokes of an international break" lolol
Mount is also really good for those inside forward kind of roles.
Edit: you covered this at the end :D
United fan here. What I've learned from the past 25 years of being a fan of the club is that overhyping up someone new to the club leads to anger and disappointment most of the time down the line. Managers, players, hell even assistant managers like RVN and probably the new vendor in OT's concession stand. 😂
Personally, I am on the fence about Amorim initially, but he seems to be an energetic manager unlike anyone we have had since SAF. I feel like his biggest strength will be with man management, while his tactics needs a couple of games to be fully assessed. Whatever happens, I will enjoy the ride wherever he will take us when all is said and done.
18:11 if anyone wondered what is written under the four four two piramid, it is Subbuteo.
Was waiting for this video, perfect timing
Antony at RWB can be good in possession but I worry when defending crosses at backpost
Plus exciting youth coming through in the shape of Collyer, Gore, Fletcher, and Kone…
United could really be spoilt for options if Amorim can coach his ideas successfully.
Think they'll all be leaving latest Summer, the latest
Casemiro ericsen lindelof are all to be sold.
@ of course, but whilst they’re here they’re still a viable option.
I needed that gold start today, thankyou
Onana
De Ligt, Evans, Martinez
Mazraoui, Ugarte, Casemiro, Dalot
Mount, Bruno
Hojlund
At some point in the season I wouldn’t be surprised if Casemiro moves into defence for a few games
Malacia be like "wake me up when Ten Haag's gone" 😂
I think the two WB dont necessarily have to get too far up, maybe in a slower build up, but in a fast counter rather create underlaps with the two 10s
Onana, Shaw, Evans, Deligt
Mazraoui and Antony
Casemiro and Ugarte
Bruno and Amad
Rasmus
Note: If Martinez is fit he will start
Mazraoui can play anywhere in the defence but you wouldn't want to play him for the first time as a CB, LCB or RCB in your first game he might make errors although he is such a good player
Antony has the best defensive stats as a winger in the EPL he can play that role because the LWB receives with his back against the opposition cuts inside or plays into midfield or across to the other flank Dalot can't do that and the LWB is usually a left footer because the combination of play is different on the other end.
Mainoo is not match fit, over time he will start
Bruno and Amad are tailored for this
Rasmus can hold the ball and serve as an outlet. Ipswich will press us knowing fully well we can be vulnerable playing in our own half. Long balls will be played and Rashford has 0 holdup play he can't play with his back to goal. If he plays we will lose lots of possession however there will be oppositions that will suit Rashford style of play.
Was really hoping for this. Odd I just happened upon it ☺
If you are expecting united to have Wingbacks getting to the byline and cutting back for Hojlund, then you can't expect Dalot to be LWB and Antony at RWB. If you flip their sides then maybe, but both will just be cut inside merchants in the formation you have laid out there
Onana - Martinez, DeLigt, Mazraoui - Antony, Mainoo, Ugarte, Amad - Bruno, Garnacho - Højlund
I hope it’s not this.
I like how opponent teams can go on RUclips and get a thousand video tutorials on United's strategies and weaknesses
Nope, Amorin likes to play left footed player on the right wing back and Antony fits that profile perfectly.
@ has nothing to do with my comment
If he can put throughballs for rasmus, amad and any under lapping players he will be an asset.
@@Doctor_Kroom yup but that takes one of them out of the danger zone and you have one less receiver in the middle
You got it. Parabéns 🇵🇹💪
So good to see Adam monk again
Fernandes plays deep.
Pings the ball to rashford.
Squares the ball to Hojlund. Goal.
Antony plays more of a utility player tuned moment player.
Amazing content Adam!
Good to know Adam C has found a squeeze
Also think that Bruno and Amorim being Portuguese will help with translation/implementation of ideas. I think language barrier plays a huge role in ideas taking time to set in
Amorim speaks perfect English, what are you on about?
@ there’s a huge diffeeence between interview English and explaining intricacies of disciplines
Great video, as always!
09:20 Who else saw that Ten Hag dig coming? 😂😂😂
You were pissed?
@ 😆watch the video all the way through. And sadly, no, I don’t think so…
Bruno has to be the No.
Oana - De Ligt Evans Shaw - Dalot Ugarte Caseimro Garnacho - Amad Bruno - Hojlund
Realistic team on Sunday:
Onana
RWB: Dalot
CBs: Yoro De Ligt Martinez
LWB: Shaw (you forgot about him a little bit- understandably!)
CMs: Ugarte Mainoo
10s: Bruno Amad
Striker: Hojlund
He didn't forget Shaw, he said he'd be cover in the left center back role and tbh that'd suit him more than Lwb because his body just can't handle the load that role entails
Im not a Antony fan but You are correct..... weirdly he is suited for that WB roll
Love you Adam Clery, ever since What culture 👍💪🫡
What do you think about Antony at left wing back vs right? My assumption is the two 10s probably need width and he being left-foot-only probably fits better on the left side than right.
Onana
Yoro, De Ligt, Luke Shaw
Antony, Ugarte, Mainoo, Mazraoui
Bruno, Garnacho
Hojlund
Onana - Martinez De ligt Dalot - Mazraoui Mainoo Ugarte Antony - Fernandes Rashford Amad
Adam! You have to do the Arsenal vs Sporting & City vs Feyenoord one...please🥹
It's the energy levels, I can't see them doing well this season.
Onana
Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez
Antony, Ugarte, Mainoo, Mazraoui
Garnacho Rashford Fernandes
Starting XI:
GK - Onana
CB - Martinez, De Ligt, Evans
WB - Garnacho, Maz
MF Ugarte, Casemiro
CAM - Amad, Fernandes
ST - Højlund
Looking forward to this game!
Onana
Martinez De Ligt Evans
Antony Ugarte Mainoo Mazraoui
Fernandes Mount
Rashford
The Antonaissaince and revitalised Mount could happen! Especially because Amorim has had more time with them, and Mount has played well in the formation in the past, that should allow him to impress upon the coaches in training. Yoro may replace Martinez depending on who is fit to start...
Adam Clery your videos are top class! I ignore the rest now. Are you in the mix for MOTD?! Do you play subbuteo?
GK: Onana
Rwb: Mazouri
Cb: Delight
Cb: maguire
Cb: Martinez
Lwb: Dalot
Cm: Ugarte
Cm Casemiro
Am: Bruno
Am: Mount
Cf: Holjund
Can I have a picture of Adam instead???
Evans in place of Maguire
@@adenihunadewale9214 I agree and would want that too, but to win, I believe this is what Ruben will go with
@@WeeBento Evans is more experienced and a better organized and vocal
@@adenihunadewale9214 again, I agree, but as a Manchester United and Northern Irish man and supporter, this is what I think the starting line up will be for Sundays game.
maguire lol you want to lose dont you ?
Mazraoui has literally been United’s best player this season. No way he’s not starting
Against Ipswich in a 3-4-3:
Onana
Yoro - DeLigt - Martinez
Dalot - Ugarte - Fernandes - Malacia
Amad - Hojlund - Garnacho
maybe the case of Anthony, he was only used because of he was available during the international break, which was not the case for Mazraoui and Dalot
14:25 @FourFourTwo Did you really flip the stats for Rashford to show the year before or substituted his stats with Garnacho’s?? Cos it’s looking pretty much like the same.
Onana.
Yoro. De ligt. Shaw
Anthony. Ugarte. Mainoo. Dalot
Amad. Rashford. Bruno
This is not the exact lineup I want him to put out, but it’s a prediction of what I think he will put out
Never in my life did i think that Antony would get this much hype lol
