    It's not often commented on - Stan may not be the fastest around the court, but his footwork to get into position is beautiful. Very light on his feet when doing that.

    Something that never gets talked about is Stan's net game IMHO. It gets overlooked bc he's not a "volleyer" in the Federer-sense where he would actively try to rush to the net to end the point quick. But when he is there, he rarely messes up. I mean, you never really see Stan just straight up botched a volley.

    • @starlighthero6499
      @starlighthero6499 Год назад +1

      Not only does Wawrinka have good volley skills, he has powerful groundstrokes with depth and angles that set up into them, as Federer in more instances approaches the net at some awkward times but makes it up with great feel and anticipation (sometimes). You could consider Wawrinka to be an effective volleyer in this game because he can finish the point at the net and knows when to execute it as well as how it fits into the whole scope of his game.

    It's kind of unfortunate that the way the tennis draw work when you get 2 high quality players clash over 5 sets however good they are the winner often will risk defeat if they have any trouble recovering in time for the next round.
