- Hey girl!
Welcome back to another video. Today, I’m sharing my step-by-step process on how I air dry while using my blow dryer to achieve a smooth sleek look to my relaxed hair. Plus the Scarf Method, on damp hair, helps a ton while air drying. I’ve been doing this method for years and it works so well in drying my hair straight without the use of direct heat.
I always get a lot of questions on how I air dry my relaxed hair and how to get it straight - so here it is. Air drying is definitely one of the best hair drying options for me and using the blow dry on “cool air” method has been a game changer in closing my cuticles, locking in moisture, smoothing my hair and giving my relaxed hair a straighter appearance - heat free!
As always, thanks for watching! Oh, and don't forget to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE:)

Hey luvs💕 Any hair plans this weekend?
Yeahp 💕
💚Deep Conditioning 💕
Black tea rinse. My hair has been shedding like crazy. … thanks Val. You are my go to girl for haircare..
Idky air drying doesn't work for me. I'll get the Cream of Nature Argan leave in conditioner and see if I get better results but I've used very high quality products in the past. My hair dries sort of brittle when I don't sit under a dryer. Thankfully though, I don't have heat damage and my hair is very bouncy. I do go to the salon on a regular basis so that helps a lot.
Running my hair through my fresh relaxer retouch 🥴🥴🥰🥰 I went 10 weeks before retouching and I’m so relieved! @hairlicious inc, I followed your hair care routines RELIGIOUSLY and achieved 2 inches of hair growth in 10 weeks. You are God sent 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I have been following your routine for about 3 months and I can actually say it works. I follow all your hair care regimen and my hair has grown from ear length to neck length in just 3 months. My goal is bra scrap length. Wish me luck.
Amazing!! Thank you for sharing your progress💕 keep going sis💪🏾
I have been doing the same and am amazed.I changed my products and I literally copy paste Val’s.
Aaawwwww God bless this woman bcoz she is really generous with truthful information.
How's it going now?
I am newly relaxed (tmrw will be one week) and I thought relaxed gals blow dry on hot air then flat iron but that seemed too heat intensive. I'm happy to learn that blow drying can be done on cool air and still have great results. I'm gonna try getting these products
I air dry infront of the fan🤭 with no smoothing motions...you can guess how poofy that turns out lol. Im looking at your scarf and thinking damn...I forget to do this!
Thanks for the updated air drying tutorial/tip Val.
Hola😍 me gustan mucho tus recomendaciones Me funcionan muy bien. Si te es posible poner los subtítulos traducido al español llevarías a muchas más personas que le gustarían tus consejos ❤️❤️
I would love to do that. Not sure how but I’ll look into it🤍
Great routine and l love to Air dry too cos it just give the thickness and healthy look
Whew! Air drying/drying on cool air! I miss my relaxed hair at times.
I love your hair so much!! How is it not fragile and thin when its wet!? I could never Finger comb through my damp hair so Im wondering how you got your hair to be like that! Thank you🩷
This is definitely a help I relaxed my daughter hair she loves it. But I definitely didn’t want to add heat to her hair every wash day.
Exactly! And you don’t have to air dry loose. You can air dry in twists, loose braids, low bun etc. Glad this was helpful💕
Your hair is looking great.
Thank you!!
@Val. So after you air dry you moisturize and seal again?
I thought you moisturized and sealed at the beginning of the video with the leave in moisture milk and OGX oil. I’m confused.
Where do you buy the buttermilk leave-in? I have been looking for it for a year and no luck. Thank you.
Hey hun! I grab it from my local beauty supply store.
I bought it off Amazon.
Thank you so much! Love your videos!
Awww thanks for watching hun💕
Thank you ❤️. How often do you relax? Do you color? I am 8 months post telax in NYC. I also am 8 months post temporary color to cover gray. I am lost about what to do. 1) Do I temporary color and then do the relaxer? 2) or do I relax first and then do temporary color? Any tips from everybody is welcome. I can not breathe in mask, so I am forbidden from the salons in NYC. I have to do it myself. I have about 3 inches or more new growth.
Hey hun. I relax every 10-12 weeks. I would relax and then colour maybe 1-2 weeks after your touch up.
@@HairliciousInc Thank you.
My hair is completely dry would I still be able to do this
It’s better when the hair is slightly damp
I don' t fllow you that long but I like your video's.
Can you please take a close up picture of all the products together?
Thank you in advance.
Can you please do a video on everyday protective styles for relaxed hair. No weave just your own natural hair. Thanks.
This really does work. Every since I started air drying with the scarf method or blow drying on cool, I've gotten the same results as you. Back when I didn't know what I was doing, it would draw up shorter than it was and was frizzy 🤦🏾♀. Your hair looks good and healthy.
So happy this has been working for you, too!! I swear by it and my hair has been responding to it pretty well over the years💕
I started doing this method and my hair loves it! My hair has been growing as well!!
Beautiful!! 💕💕💕
You are one of my favorite hair youtubers.
I happen to be natural but what you implement also works for me.
I love the 3P oils, deep conditioner, cowash. I will never forget when you said no matter if you are relaxed or natural you must constantly care for your hair. Patience and dedication is key.
I am now at armpit length. My Goal is bra stap length in 2021.
Never ever be lazy with hair care.
Thank you Val for your inspiration to so many people
Awww🥺 this made my day! Consistency, patience and dedication is everything. Truly honoured to be an inspiration. Thank you so much for your support. I’m confident that you’ll achieve your goals. Keep going sis, you got this💪🏾💕
Hey Sis, always good to see you. I also learned about air drying on cool air from you, and I have to say that it really makes my hair feel and look so much better. Thanks again for sharing, I got back on my hair journey watching your videos and learned so much, and really learned my hair and what it likes from what it doesn’t like. May the lord continue to bless you and your family and have a wonderful and blessed holiday season🙏🏾👍🏾❤️
Hey girlie!! So glad my videos have been helpful and you’ve learned a lot about your hair. That’s what’s most important. Have a blessed holiday, hun. Thanks so much for watching💕
@@HairliciousInc Thank you, and you’re welcome Sis.
So glad I found this channel. I got my first relaxer in 23 years about a month ago and needed some tips on how to keep my relaxed hair healthy. Loving this channel for that! My hair is definitely responding to the moisturize and seal technique. Thanks for the great content!
Yay!! So glad my channel has been helpful. Congratulations on Relaxing!! Enjoy💕
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This technique has been hair and life changing for me. I began letting my hair air dry on its' own and it looked fine but I developed huges amounts of dandruff. My hair was taking about 3 to 4 hours to dry and I hadn't thought about the effects that would occur because my scalp was wet/damp for so long. I used this method to air dry/blow dry and my scalp health quickly improved! You are AMAZING!
I bought the OGX oil and used it for my air drying today. Game changer!!!!!! Hands down best air dry experience in almost a year
I’m no longer relaxed but I enjoy watching your videos. I’m never gonna relax/ texlax my hair. But your hair is gorgeous.
Yep, me too but still enjoy her videos 😉
Aww thank you, Felicia💕 appreciate your support.
@@TES-qf7du 🙏🏾💕
So do you take off the scarf on the same night or in the morning?
Thanks for incorporating the blow dryer on cool. Where did you get the scarf. Great job!
Thanks Val, I need all the help I can get, I am back home in Cuba, so that means a total change from the water characteristics to the products! I will keep up my routine (my version of yours, thank you! ) to help in this transition. All the best for the season and the new year!
Thanks for this video ! This is how I air dry or blow dry my hair . I think you showed me this t shirt method at least 10 years ago and the blow dry method on cool like 5 years ago - is that right ? My how time flies !
Question - do you sometimes go longer than a week without washing your hair , if so what it the longest you go?
Love that you still have so much texture and shoutout to the hubby for paying attention to detail and for even showing interest 🧡🤎! TFS
Amen l claim my own hair to grow as thick, long and healthy as yours. I am prepared to put in the work. Help me ABBA Father hallowed be thy name in the name of Jesus Christ
Plus I will use cool air dry setting like you hairlicious
I recently went relaxed and chopped my hair .. Although I’m everything hair salon and have been with my stylist for over 20 years (I’m 33, started going to her at 17) I still wanna save some coins in between relaxers and wash plus moisturize at home .. so thank you for this Chanel .. hoping to grow out this shoulder length hair 😍 by end of year with ur help as well as hers ..
Beautiful as always. Working on reviving my hair& will be incorporating this method to see how it does for me. Blessings to you Queen 🙏🏾❤️
Thank you so much!! Hope it works for you💕
My daughter is relaxed and I put her under the hooded dryer on low heat on wash days and it makes styling much easier
I use that leave in on my natural hair and let me tell you she's ain't lying it is actually very Good at moisturizing and reducing breakage I recommend it
How many times do you moisturize per week? How long does it take for the hair to become dry again and you need to reapply your moisturizer???
Hi! Great video! Thank you for sharing! I learned a lot. Is the oil that you put on your hair before blow drying what you use as your heat protectant? I always mess up with the blow drying process. I am trying to figure out if I need to use a leave conditioner if I am using a heat protectant. If I am using a heat protectant, should that serve as my leave in conditioner?
Wash days for me are a mess. 😂😂 I clearly appreciate your video.
Thank you and your hair looks absolutely beautiful
Hi Val please help a girl out, I relax my hair at home and I wash it after 2 weeks. I only use heat everytime I relax and air dry everytime i wash. I haven't really tried the scarf method I just brush my hair and let it dry. But the thing is my my hair turns curly at the roots. And it always looks fluffy and not straight. What am I doing wrong? Please help this 🇿🇦 gal out.
You’ll need leave in conditioner and a serum as she mentioned.
No wayyyy I JUST came out of the shower after washing my hair and didn't know what to do w it this time!! I got it relaxed almost 4 weeks ago for the first time:)))
Haha!! Perfect timing😍 Wishing you an amazing Relaxed Hair Journey💕
What’s your hair porosity. Love ya videos
I’m going to try your air dry routine. Normally when I air dry, my hair gets so dry, and , as you said, crispy. LOL! Can’t wait to try this. Thanks. Love your channel.
I finally mastered the air dry with the scarf method , less products.
Less is more!
Hi Val great video, where did you purchase your satin scarf from?
My hair gets so coarse, frizzy and dry when I use cold air 😭 air drying is fine but the cold air is not my hair’s friend and tbh I wish it was
Oh no! My hair loves the cool air, the cuticles just lay better. Keep doing what works for you💕
Omg! 😲 you are not lying at all. This Leave-In is the BOMB! I LOVE ❤ everything about it. The smell, the moisture is AMAZING. Great tips 👌on blow drying.
Thanks for this video! I was airdrying for about 7 months and I followed your technique and may hair would be Smooth but I suffered a LOT of breakage. I think I know why now and it's because I wasn't speeding up's to drying process by cool drying. The water was swelling my cuticles. My hair felt amazing during the week but on wash days it was breaking. Now I know how to resolve the issue. Thank you so much!
Hi hun!! Thanks so much for watching!! Yes, it’s important for the hair to dry quickly rather than hold onto water for hours on end. I hope the ‘blow dry on cool air’ method works for you💕
So once your hair is dry how would you moisturise and seal?
I thought she already moisturized and sealed at the beginning of the video with the leave in moisture milk and OGX oil. I’m confused.
Hi Val you know you are the hair Guru. I am doing a tea treatment this weekend but I will incorporate the oil and hair milk. My hair dries pretty fast when air drying. Thanks for all the tips you have educated me on hair care and I really do appreciate all you do and all the advise videos. Thank you❤❤❤
Tea treatments are great, especially for shedding! So glad my video have helped you hun. Thanks for the luv💕
Thanks to you, that's what I have been doing since watching your washday routine videos.
Please aside the leave-in and OGX oil you used in this video, please which other good protein free leave-in and moisturizers will you recommend?
I am asking this because usually it's difficult getting the products here in Ghana, thus if I get other good options then the search continues.
Thanks sis.
What product lines are available in Ghana?
How often do you use the blow dryer?
I really enjoy your videos especially this one. I’m natural but it’s been a huge stress lately and I’m completely neglecting my hair so I’ve thought about relaxing my hair but doing research on how to take care of it and your videos have been extremely helpful ! Thank you 💜
relaxers cause cancers such as ovarian and uterine. Stop using relaxers and dyes. Its not worth your health.
I air dry my hair for 3 months+1 week, when it's relaxer day I air dry and a week later I go to the hair salon and the hairstyler use the hooded dryer + the flat iron (pixie cut)
Sounds like you got a solid routine, sis💕
I tried this method last night as I have been needing to lay off direct heat and OH MY GOODNESS it worked so well! My hair was straight, soft, and moisturized. So much more than my flat ironing on a lower setting! Thank you so much for all your relentless research and you sharing your knowledge with us at no cost. May God bless you richly. ❤
Omg!!! This is super helpful bc I get so frustrated with this but I’m going to try this method
I see some of your channels talk about hair mask and deep conditioning…what’s the difference and do you do both at the same time? I’m confused. Plus I just purchased the Aussie Conditioners to try cause of you 😊🙏🏽
You are doing a great job with your hair. Thanks for sharing this is a great way to dry our hair.
Thanks so much, Meka 💕
How can I air dry my hair straight every time I wash my hair it's so curly
Also, I was wondering if you m&s with the leave in and oil you used for air drying? How soon after do you m&s? For me, I just feel funny about m&s'ing after already using a leave in and oil for air drying. I just always wondered that.
I'm crazy about all that Healthy Beautiful Hair.. Thank you for sharing your tips on Healthy long strong Beautiful hair..
Would any good leave in and oil have the same result? I absolutely hate ogx lol
Can I blow dry my hair after washing out relaxer
Hi. How often should hair be washed. I love your hair
Thank you for the pointers.😇😇😇
Hi Val! Love your videos, love your hair. Do you hold down the cool button on your dryer or does it lock in place? Thanks!
The only way I can get straight hair is letting it dry in a bun or with heat. Air drying or cool dryer makes it wavy. 🤷♀️
If you’re Texlaxed it will be a bit challenging. How long does it take you to dry your hair in a bun?!
@@HairliciousInc I’m relaxed. It takes about 2-3 days to dry in a bun.
I’m shocked it gets wavy even with a blow dryer on cool air 🤔 ...smoothing is key though. Does the bun create a crease?
@@HairliciousInc yes it creates a crease. Once it’s dry I use satin rod rollers and that takes the crease out. My guess is that if I used a paddle brush and cool air it would dry straight. Too much work for me!!
Wonderful I information. I love your videos sooo much
Thanks hun for the luv and for watching💕
Good technique, THANKS for posting.
Thank you! Thanks for watching💕
hello, is that a tshirt you use to dry your hair or something i can buy off amazon?
It's just a t-shirt lol.
Im taking notes…💕
I love the way you do your hair! I miss my texlaxed hair! ❤
Awww thank you so much💕
I am over the moon with As I Am. My hair is super moist now.
It's sooo good!!!
Thanks for the video
Great information!
did you cut your hair again
Yes, I did! I’ve been loving this length.
you really have your routine to a science! Amazing results every time.
Hey Debs! Lol thanks hun. Trust me, it took lots of trial and error. Still learning, too☺️
I like the method you use. After I detangle & use a leave-in, I use NAIROBI foam wrap. I don’t wrap my hair, I simply comb it straight down & allow it to air dry. Comes out like I’ve flat ironed it. My hair is thick. As I continue to grow it out, I’ll use your method. I’m almost shoulder length. Thx 4 the tips. 😁
I like the foam wrap idea! Glad to hear air drying is working for you, too💕
Love the entire process!
Thank you for watching💕
Yesss! Thank you for sharing. I was just thinking about changing the products I use when air drying my hair because of the crunchiness 😭 😆… I’m gonna give those products a try.
Hey hun. What products were you using before?
@@HairliciousInc I use the design essentials daily moisturizer & a little bit of almond oil 😊
That moisturizer has two proteins! That could be the reason why your hair feels crunchy.
@@HairliciousInc OMG! I didn’t realize that! Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Definitely changing what I’m using now. Smh
Thank you for another amazing video. Definitely always excited when your videos pop up.
