- This might be EXACTLY what Toyota needs to look up too for the future Supra. This Infiniti G35 with a 2JZ GTE swap might be the closest thing to a little more modern supra than we've ever had, and it is nothing short of crazy. Well a regular 2jz can take alot of boost without needing upgrades so I assume he was referring to the engine only and not the turbo lol
yes sir, 2jz power man. simple bolt on, slap a turbo in it, it'll produce a lot of power.
It's not built, it literally has basic bolt ons. My EcoBoost with similar mods gets 400whp, so 600 on stock set up is very stout
This car has the 2jz GTE meaning it comes with a turbo from factory. unless you mean slap a bigger turbo in it, in which case you'll make all the power in the world.
I personally know the owner, he had a wastegate problem which limited him to just 600hp, he should be making around 900 afterwards.

A 2J is only a dyno queen if the builder ignored the aero & mechanical grip of the vehicle. Power is usless w/o traction for any vehicle.

G35's are so sexy! The rear end on the G35 is sex on wheels, the sound is incredible these VQ's make and they make great daily drivers with a good amount of power. They just click all the right buttons! VQ nation ftw!

Stock 2jz internals are capable in making those numbers as long as fuel, timing, and tune are up to snuff
Edgar Duran Add a bigger turbo... Without sleeved block, with upgrades pistons, springs, cams, etc.. I would say that is certainly a lot of power. Bet he upgraded that fuel system though AND on e85 (which adds in another extra 100hp to a good tune anyway)

it's actually cheaper to build a VQ35de/hr to 600hp than swap in a 2jz. to do it yourself you're looking at $15K, thats internals and engine managment included. Z1 motorsports will do it for about 30K.
To have a 2jz swapped in by yourself I've seen it cost upwards of 30K to build them properly. and I couldnt even imagine what a shop would charge.
Sure, 2J all the things, but for the money an VQ engine is very capable.
That being said, there is no "budget" option to building a G35/350Z. either shell out some serious coin or enjoy it in it's stock form, because even an Osirus tune wont do shit with a stock engine, they are already that efficient from the factory.
this is definitely a baller build. would be a blast to drive it!

Love my g35 but what a headache it's been. Both window motors went, the driver window is off the track somewhere, the sunroof is broken, and my air-conditioning/stereo ( an odd combo to tie together) just crapped out Friday. I've been dreaming about a swap but it appears cheaper or same price as buying a built longblock vq. With the economy it's only a dream but I'm hoping one day it will be a reality. Seeing builds like this is what keeps the flame burning. Nice car!

I loved my G35 so much! It was a shame to see it go since it was such a fun car. I upgraded to a MK7 GTI but I do miss being RWD and sliding around. Happy to see someone really building this amazing machine.

The good thing about swapping in a 2JZ is not having to deal with the rest of the Supra owning headaches - literally every single part you want or need to buy is outrageously expensive or it is not available to purchase. Quick comparison: transmissions. A brand new factory bought CD009 is $1800, a used V160 can be upwards of $10k. Another quick note: Supra steering wheels is around $1k. Yes.... the steering wheel. I am not even kidding, go look it up. Another comparison: any of the dash pieces. Last I saw a couple of the pieces (lower left and mid right) were over $1k.
I am about to sell my 93 RSP/BLK MKIV 6-spd TT Supra. People always say 'if you sell it, you're crazy' but if you don't have a shitload of free flowing cash (tens of thousands) then it's not worth keeping a Supra. My future build will be a 370z with a 2JZ swap and I cannot wait.

Damn, the G coupe is a great looking car, looks much better than the generation of Supra the 2JZ came out of, but the 2JZ has to be one of the best if not the best engine in its class of its time... That engine is damned near bulletproof... That shit looks bad ass...

VQ is too limited, the Supra is my favorite car of all time and the 2J is my favorite engine. Hope to have one soon. The G35 is a great car but it would be 1000x better with a 2J, why spend 8k on a greddy twin turbo kit and then build the motor when a 2J is so much easier and can bolt to the CD009.

5:06 the VQ was actually designed around shortening the overall length of the motor, and move more engine mass towards the center of the chassis, as it's 2 rows of 3cyl. I'm actually surprised the straight 6 fits as well as it does.
