And BTW, the autos aren't THAT bad. They shift sorta fast, and they hang in gear when you play with the throttle (in a good way). So if you let off the throttle, and break, then corner, and want to get back in it, the sporty auto transmission is ready for you, still in high rpms. I've driven a lot of BMWs, like 95% of BMWs are automatic, and none of their autos function like this. At least none pre 2006. But yeah, manual is preference... Just don't completely denounce an auto until you've tried it.
The auto is a surprisingly good transmission. Its able to tell when your trying to stay in the power so it won’t upshift early on you. And it’s got rev matching even when your not using manual mode. I find it pretty cool
The G35 coupe and sedan i have to say are classics as well. Both feel so great to drive compared to many cars today. The DNA runs strong in the sedan as well slightly more relaxed chracter
I dont get why the G gets so much hate as an auto, its one of the funnest autos ive driven, besides you got manual mode so you can still have fun with the gears
the VQ engine platform uses timing chains not timing belts... the difference between rev-up and non-rev-up engines is that non-rev-up engines have variable cam timing on just the intake cam whereas the rev-up engines have variable cam timing on both the intake and exhaust cams.
I have a 2004 G35X sedan and it looks and runs like a champ. These cars look like they're not taken care of very well. Come on take better care of your babies.
The 2005 is somewhere in the middle of both. You get the 05-07 interior (which is alot nicer), the rays forged wheels, but the exterior is still the same as 03-04.
pretty close, but only a few thing i can think of that you missed, the 03 has 06-07 headlights which are not what originally come on those cars, also on 07 the door handle and radio areas all have either more metallic or chrome finishes, and the seats in front on both models move forward to access back seats but on the 03 it automatically moves forward, on the 07 there is a button on back for that function.
" Don't get a automatic " I had too man I bought a 03 g35 for 800$ in perfect condition minus the seats being torn up, but other than that it was great
Some 06/07's may also have the driver memory seat feature. I'm not sure if its an upgrade. I have a 2005 G35 fully loaded 6spd but I dont have the memory seat function. The best feature on the newer 06/07 is the trunk button outside (on the tailight).
Seanbeingsean says the kid who thinks an engine is what shifts. Do you even know how a clutch works? Have you ever even broken down a transmission and rebuilt ? But I drive auto so apparently I don't know cars. And talk to me when you boosted 🤢
No way !! Q50 is a huge disappointment. They completely ruined the Steering feel ( one of the G's BEST attributes ) by moving to Steering-By-Wire, the back end looks super Generic and the interior is overly-busy and not designed very well. The ONLY thing good about the Q50 is the pretty grill. But the rest of the car is a disaster.
FYI: He is referring to the VTC sprockets NOT TIMING BELTS. The VQ series of engines has always had a timing chain. As I recall, all G models 2003-04 are all 260hp; same VQ engines and all have VTC only on the intake cams regardless of auto or manual. 2005-07 coupes (2005-06 Sedans) are 280hp with the automatic (VTC only on intake). For the latter models with manual transmission, they are 298hp, and have VTC on both the intake and the exhaust camshafts, and are referred to as 'Rev-Up' models. I'm pretty sure thats the skinny on them, but I could be wrong. Regardless, if these motors are looked after and the oil changed regularly, they are very reliable engines. They burn oil, so keep an eye on the level, especially if you beat on them! Do you need a manual to have fun? I don't believe that 100%. I live in CA, and traffic can be a major pain, so a stick would be a nuisance. The auto tranny's are same story as the motor, if the fluid is kept clean, they are very durable and shift quite quick in my experience. My 05 G has 252k on the clock, I cannot complain about these cars.

The one thing that I like about the G35/35s over the 350/370Z is the longer sloped roofline. The Z’s look “odd”. I ran up against 2 350Z’s one night a few years ago. They were playing follow the leader at 125mph so I tagged along. I was in a 1993 BMW E34 3.5 liter big 6 535i with a 5-speed and some major engine mods. I was running 3.46:1 rear gears. Been looking at mustangs, chargers, Nissan 350's, and these infiniti's in the early to mid 2000's range. Haven't found that Goldie locks car yet.
Jeremiah Freeman Same boat regarding not having found that “one” yet. Got some time though, no rush but those G35’s are beautiful even after all these years. That will be my next ride. Good luck with your search.

Is the automatic that bad? I’m looking into g35s, and decided that I’d get an automatic if I got one because they’re much more common and cheaper. I also figured I’d chip it to shift faster. Is this a bad idea? Edit: also, I’d like to learn to drive stick but don’t know how to currently. So basically I don’t know if I prefer one or the other
Everybody has their preference but I love driving manual. I learned as soon as I could and it made driving so much more of an experience. But if you do go auto cuz they’re cheeper (be patient and you could prolly find a good deal manual) definitely be careful with the chips, it’s the whole if it sounds too good to be true thing - they can lead to all sorts of problems. Good luck!
LMFAO I wanted to yet an automatic because I don't know how to drive manual but after he said that getting it would be dumb, I feel kinda dumb and dont know about getting it anymore...
I think, with all infinitis, it comes down to the taillights. Which do I like more... 2003 or 2007 lol... I think I kinda like the flat one more?? Do you guys have problems with your oil burning? Either of you?
I just recently bought a 2007 Infiniti G35. On the front it has Brembo brakes. In the video you say only 2003 and 2004 have it. You also say in the video that the G35 was only made from 2003 to 2007. But I see 2011 G35 right across the street. I just would like if you clarify these things for me. Where are the brakes on my car possibly added on later?
+Rixxanator 519 I’m pretty sure on both. People often put Brembos on the newer ones. And the g35 stoped in 07. The g35x was made later and so was the g37
Seanbeingsean oh yeah the G37. I want to figure this out because I just bought the car a couple of months ago and I was told it was all stock. There are Brembo brakes on the front and just regular Nissan brakes on the back.
Rixxanator 519 in dead breaks where added later and 2011 is a sedan meanwhile the coupe version of the G35 was done by 07 and the new G became to be known as G37 from 08 and so on
Thanks for all the support on this video guys! Obviously I didn't mention everything and I misspoke on a few words but thanks for the corrections!

Seanbeingsean thanks for the advice. I've got a 2006 pontiac g6 convertible hardtop that is fun. But I'm getting bored of it and want something rear wheel drive.
@@fairplayer916 did u end up getting one
@@josh9425 ended up not going for it. Life commitments changed. Currently driving a 1994 Ford explorer. With an 85 honda magna v65 motorcycle for fun on the days off. But what I found out suggests the g35 is a good pick. Even with high miles as long as it's been cared for.
great vid!
Why have plain Jane manual . The auto is 2 in 1 . Auto and manual. Just need a professional driver behind the wheel not some kid .
Channel should be called seanbeingwhite
+CrCKLE pOps well I am while so that would work...
forgot to mention the cd001 vs the cd009 transmissions!!
Hey what about the 2004 compartment underneath the clock in the interior, is that the same throughout the 2003 to 2007?
Depends which one you get they would of had different package types but most are similar
You skipped one of the most important things... 2003 has a cd001 transmission that grinds 3rd Nd 5th. The 2007 has a cd009 transmission with upgraded synchronizers.... very important when buying one of these cars if you dont want a serval thousand dollar repair on your hands
2006 or 5 o believe and after has the better synchros
Good luck!
I guess when I bought my g the dude had it chipped to shift way faster, and bro its legit way faster on takeoffs, but makes you knock sensors bad
LMFAO I wanted to yet an automatic because I don't know how to drive manual but after he said that getting it would be dumb, I feel kinda dumb and dont know about getting it anymore...
the autos are actually great but i just love the manuals
I think, with all infinitis, it comes down to the taillights. Which do I like more... 2003 or 2007 lol... I think I kinda like the flat one more??
Do you guys have problems with your oil burning? Either of you?
+Chris Foster I definitely have. I also drive more liberal than my friend
Do you run thicker oils to combat it? Or just top it off more frequently?
Chris Foster yes just started a few months ago on my a/t 06 g35
Seanbeingsean the vq35 is nutritious for burning oil. There's a trick to fix it but just too it off
Robusk have your engine been making a slight ticking noise due to running on low oil for a little amount of time?
That 03 must be the 2003.5. My center console is different in my 03
Yeah same and I only have one seat button on driver side instead of 3 like in the video
So the manual exhaust is louder than the automatic
Are those rims on the 07 only for the sports package or do they come on every 07
what kind of grill does the black one have? im interested in one for my 06' coupe
Only manuals get the perks
03 to 04 gets the brembos
05 to 07 get the revups
How much hp 05? How many engine options in 05
I just recently bought a 2007 Infiniti G35.
