"The meaning behind these songs were so different". YES. Thats what I always say when someone asks why I love the old school music so much. They talked about real feelings. All us old heads are STILL connected to it, just like you will always be as well.
I grew up in the 80s. Got to listen to these songs when they were new. So glad to see you appreciate them and show them the love they deserve. Never will be another time like these.
It's an awakening. And now you understand why so many people of the younger generation are devoid of any ability to feel compassion, love, and everything else that falls into line with normal face to face relations. Things were do different between the time we were coming up and the sprouts from the 21st century. Journey is a close second to Queen, in my opinion. However, when you try to rate bands from that era, it is very difficult. Too many compete for the top spot by being unique and having amazing talent. The songwriters, the composers, the musicians... Todays artists can't hold a candle to them. Todays artists should be embarrassed. You are an old soul my friend, I can see it in your face. One can not be depressed while listening to this stuff. It lifts you up.
Steve Perry himself has said that as he aged and Life had its way with him, he really needed the messages of these songs to help him through the hard times.
Steve Perry's voice never fails to give me goosebumps, i agree with you that music should always express something meaningful to be able to touch your spirit, but voices like that elevate songs to the level where you can safely call them masterpieces, Steve Perry is a legend
It’s okay James to love God and be spiritual!! As u get older. U won’t care what people think. I very much have a relationship with God. And it’s just beautiful! As long as u stay true to yourself... you’ll be fine!😃
He has such a great voice. After Journey fired him, other singers have ruined their vocal cords trying to copy him. A great song he does is still they ride. The live one in Japan is the best. Pure perfection
Steve Perry is one of the greatest voices ever. This is my favorite Journey song, and one of my top 5 all-time favorite songs. I love that you’re bringing us along with you on your music journey. You have rekindled my desire to listen to all my old favorites. ❤️
Journey was one of the bands that got me into rock music back when I got my first stereo system (a combo fm radio/tape cassette/record player from Radio Shack :). I heard Don't Stop Believin' on the radio and knew I had to rush out and buy it! And I have never stopped listening to Journey all these years, even though they went out of fashion for a long time. Steve Perry's voice was (and still is) one of the greatest in rock. Long live Steve!
There is something magical in Steve Perry's voice. This is before auto-tuning and whatnot (granted there were ways of doing analog auto-tune, but it was weird and almost immediately identifiable) and the singers had to be able to actually reproduce those levels of intensity and quality live. If you look up some live Journey, you will see that yes, he really sounded like that.
Another priceless reaction today. Loved it. Steve could really belt out those high notes...Enjoy your jouney into Journey. Please do Wheels in the Sky. Another classic song.
Look up "I'll be alright without you " by Journey. My favorite group!!This and the music I grew up with.I tell my 2 daughters all the time that in my day we had ARTISTS. Today is nothing but PERFORMERS.
My favorite band "back in the day", as you say. I was madly in love but couldn't be with that person and a lot of their lyrics spoke to me . When i hear their songs today they take me right back to those days as if they were yesterday. LOVE Steve Perry's voice!
Every time you react, it's as if the clouds have parted and the sun comes out. It happens for many of us regardless of how many times we've heard a particular song.
You got me as a new subscriber after watching you react to the carpenters, I had the privilege back in the day of seeing Journey live three times and to this day they remain one of my all-time favorites. I probably can't properly convey to you how refreshing it is to see the youth today enjoy the music of my youth and I'm 55 years old. I've heard all of the songs hundreds of times, but watching your enjoyment in hearing it the first time gives me chills. Keep it up, Best reactor on RUclips. P.S. Kudos to grandma
Please do “Who’s Cryin’ Now by Journey at very least.. - the live version Houston 1981, I think. You will NOT regret it- Also know you’d love their ballad “Open Arms”. Iconic! Also “Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’.. All GREAT!!💛🤘🏼
I'm so glad you liked this. It's great that you're finding real music. You should check out Open Arms and then check out one just by the singer Steve Perry. Called Oh Sherrie. That song really shows what his voice can do.
Steve Perry has one of the greatest voices in music history period. In my opinion and you know what options are like the best. The perfection of Freddie Mercury with a more unique sound
EPIC! We need your reaction to Journey's "Mother - Father" Live in Houston. I love watching your reaction to these classic songs! Steve Perry has a voice of GOLD! \m/ \m/
JB - Watching you discover these songs is just an exercise in joy for me...to be able to hear these songs that I grew up with through the ears of a new listener is a gift. Your enthusiasm and love of music is pure, bro. Truly. I've a suggestion or two for you...try some Springsteen (Born To Run, Jungleland) or some Morphine (Dawna/Buena, Like Swimming)...or maybe some Los Lobos (Mas y Mas, Maricela). There is SO MUCH for you to discover!
Keep up the good work. The discovery of music that touches you inside, your heart and brain at the same time, is the most beautiful thing in the world. Steve Perry's voice always always gives me goosebumps. That fool could have sang ANYTHING in any era and any genre....
Everything you say about these song you listen to are the embodiment of why I still listen to music from when I was growing up. The last time I truly enjoyed music the way I did when I was a kid was the 90s/very early 2000s. It was a lot of pop, or stuff like Eminem, but it was still music with meaning. And now, that is really hard to find, as you said here, music that you can actually feel in your soul. There are very few exceptions now. You are absolutely right, those of us that got to experience the plethora of music we had from the 80s on back were seriously spoiled and lucky.
I love seeing someone experience music from my generation and love it as much as we did and will forever! You are on a journey of meaningful lyrics, unbelievable melodies, breathtaking vocals, real musicianship and bands that will live on forever! Happy watching my friend!
When this video first hit MTV it blew up music forever. Look at the emotion and intensity. That driving beat, the lyrics touches your soul. MTV V-Jays refered to Journey as the American version of Led Zeppelin, you can see why.
Steve Perry is the Voice!! Best ever. Enjoy I have been for many many years. Steve Perry's my favoritem goose bumps for days lol. 50th Anniversary this yr 2023.
When u tell kids today about music when i was young had meaning they just laugh.they dont get it. The words mean something. I get chills every time he sings. That's a sign of a great singer when u get chills. Check out all journeys vids they will blow ur mind so good !
Always loved their song "Lovin, Touching, Squeezin". Did you see how Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Steve Perry as #76 best voice in history?? Lol 🤣🤣🤣... I call bullshit!!! Rolling Stone is a joke. No way he's not top 20
JBLETHAL TV I feel the same way every single time. I'm PR, and this music is my life. I grew up w this music since 1980. This music is what made me what I am. You can't never get tired of it, ever.
Journey...so many incredible songs!!! So many artists in the day!!! You bet Brother, happiness indeed!!! You liftin my vibe too...thanks so much!!! Keep at it, you're doin awesome!!! 💜💜👍. It WAS real music, life, loved our tunes from the day!!!
James!!!!! This IS THE MUSIC of my youth ❤️ I was 18 yrs old when this hit the scene and will forever remind me of a very special boy who holds a piece of my heart forever 🥰
Been a journey fan for many years seen them 5. Times in the 80's, please listen to mother father sister live in Houston 1981 it will blow ur mind with his voice
I generally consider this to be my favorite song of all time. It combines amazing vocals with classic 80s synth. The music video leaves a lot to be desired, but you have to remember that music videos were a new medium and they just didn't know what to do with them sometimes. Didn't matter though, the song is still amazing. I hope others were able to experience it for the first time thanks to your videos.
There was a lot more "mature" music in the past. Pop music has always been sexual and silly in nature, but it wasn't until the 90's that sexual imagery began to overshadow the actual music. And once rap went huge, I think rap videos more or less cemented the notion that pop music meant taking your clothes off and gyrating seductively to the beat or whatever. And since sex sells, we got stuck in an endless loop of seeing which artists could get the closest to doing actual porn and still get away with it on prime TV. Back in the day, some of the most popular songs dealt with divorce drama, old-fashioned courtship and real romance in an adult way. And yes, it was much more relatable and personal as a result.
James, you mentioned you loved The Cranberries Zombie. One of my all time favorite songs is by them called "Linger." Simply beautiful. Also another good one by them is "Dreams."
You sir are subbed.ive watched about 20 or videos from you.you are genuine.i watch alot of reaction vids.alot are just money hungry.you are not.being a 40s something who grew up with all these 60s,70s and 80s,i love hearing younger folks opening up to it.God Bless
Steve “ The Voice” Perry!
One of my favorite Journey songs. Everything about this song is so intense.
That's how things were in the 80's. Whenever we had something to say, we went down to the docks...
Steve Perry has such a powerful voice, he can really deliver. Journey was one of my favorite bands growing up.
If you love Journey, may I suggest "Wheel In The Sky", "Lights", "Who's Crying Now" and "Open Arms".
Wheel in the Sky ... YES!
"The meaning behind these songs were so different". YES. Thats what I always say when someone asks why I love the old school music so much. They talked about real feelings. All us old heads are STILL connected to it, just like you will always be as well.
Exactly! REAL meaning, REAL feelings!
I grew up in the 80s. Got to listen to these songs when they were new. So glad to see you appreciate them and show them the love they deserve. Never will be another time like these.
Steve Perry had such a great and distinctive voice.
Still does.

70s music was and is and will always be the best music in history!! Steve in my top 3!
My favorite band "back in the day", as you say. I was madly in love but couldn't be with that person and a lot of their lyrics spoke to me . When i hear their songs today they take me right back to those days as if they were yesterday. LOVE Steve Perry's voice!
This song!!! His voice!!! The passion!!! The power!!! This is a beast!!! Have to take a breather. 80's forever!!!
"Ive never felt connected to music" and I love love love that Journey brought that comment out of you!!
You trying to find happiness is helping me find happiness. I'm going through it too brother. You own this. Don't stop bro. God bless and thank you.
Every time you react, it's as if the clouds have parted and the sun comes out. It happens for many of us regardless of how many times we've heard a particular song.
Journey forever ❤
Stone in Love; Who's crying Now; I'll Be Alright without You. All 3 have great guitar solos at the end.
