I think that Journey's vocals are great! If you want to hear another vocalist with a great vocal range then you should go listen to the band Queensryche with vocalist Geoff Tate. Listen to the song titled: "Take Hold Of The Flame/ Live In Tokyo 1984" I have even seen vocal coaches on these youtube reactions freak out when they hear the vocals in this song for the first time.
Hi Deep Fryer House, I like Silent Lucidity too, that's why I wanted to let people know about "Take Hold Of The Flame/Live From Tokyo 1984". Silent Lucidity was a mainstream hit so a lot of people know about that song, even people who don't really listen to this type of music, but unless you're either a metal head or Queensryche fan some don't know about "Take Hold Of The Flame". That's why I wanted to include it in the comment section so others can find out about that song and have a chance to experience Geoff's vocal range in this song too. I hope that JayveeTV does a reaction on this song because I can't wait to see what his reaction is.
This song was on the radio it was about 5am heading to work when it ended the DJ said if they could harness SP voice there would b enough power to light up a city.
@@J.L.Nelson I would agree. Doesn't make them a bad band, but remakes are always disappointing because they can't capture the rising nature of the original artists. It just seems more like a very good cover band. Maybe it's just how it strikes me.
Compared to now, when this song was out, we had no worries. We felt on top of the world, me and my teenage friends. This was on in the car, at parties, at the beach, and it was great times. What a fun flashback

"When You Love a Woman" is awesome, and so is "Lights". You should also check out Steve's solo work, "Oh Sherrie" and "Foolish Heart". I love your Journey reaction the best!! ❤
Steve's voice is BIGGER THAN HE IS!!! And ur not alone AT ALL, from being upset about Steve leaving the band. But he damn sure LEFT AN UNFORGETTABLE MARK, in music history!!! I LOVE when u react to Steve. I'm still HOPING you'll one day react to "When You Love A Woman", by Journey. Now THAT'S..... where he shows THE PASSION!!!
Jovaughn, Steve actually wrote a song titled Anyway that was an apology to the band for leaving in the late 80s. It's one of those from the heart, gives you goosebumps songs. Please check it out.
Jay- PLEASE react to “Who’s Cryin Now”, LIVE Houston 1980- it’s fantastic!! So much power and passion on the that stage! I normally have a hard time when live versions are not the same as what I’m used to hearing studio wise- NOT with that one☝🏼 .. It’s fantastic, he worked that stage and sounded phenomenal!! That entire Houston concert! Soooo fantastic!! 💜❤️✌️✨
The video was kinda cheesy but the song was meant as a reaction to the divorces that were going on in the band . Rather than feel helpless they wrote this song.
It almost wasn’t fair to every other great band of this era to know how superb the talent was in all phases of Journey. So glad you reviewed one of my favorite songs of all time, sir! Got a real charge from your reaction! 🔥🔥🔥👍🏻

In times of USSR, we didn't know this band exists, because of limitation of music in the country + I was young. That remastered version in the movie is a banger too... That entire movie is "crank the volume up" worthy, and it starts the moment you hear this song!
Really, they never broke up (in fact, they're still touring), they just made the mistake of replacing Steve after he left the band on NOT good terms. They have never been the same again since he left.
They're more like a very good cover band now. He made that much of a difference. And their new singer is an awesome copy, but it's just not the same. Kind of like when I fire up my old SX-780 lashed to 4-ways with 12" woofers, you can say todays audiotronics have better specs., but they don't sound better to me.
Steve Perry solo - “Oh, Sherry”. Because of this song, the lead girl in the Broadway show, “Rock of Ages” is named Sherry. Great tune. And Steve Perry doesn’t disappoint. 💜💜💜
"Lights", "Anyway You Want It", "Stone In Love", "Girl Can't Help It", "Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin", "Who's Crying Now". You should also check out the Steve Perry solo hit "Oh Sherrie".
Funny thing about video.....they were working on production and because of MTV just starting they kinda threw this together for the song. The woman is (if I remember correctly) the executives secretary and they had her walking around for vid.

This vd lost only to Rush, Time Stand Still, maybe same guy made both, I looooooove this song but video....
@@luattack123 love that song
I’m a MASSIVE Journey fan but I personally think balk talk from frontiers is a pretty awful song. Never heard another i cant appreciate
Steve has a very rare voice called tenor altino & has a 4 octave range. His voice counter balances itself. Jon Bon Jovi nicknamed him "The Voice." 🙂
Very true.
This song was on the radio it was about 5am heading to work when it ended the DJ said if they could harness SP voice there would b enough power to light up a city.
Operatic ... !!! But the one & only Steve Perry
One performer that has a tremendous voice and range and is typically overlooked. Pat Benetar.
Wow! I didn’t know it was Jon who nicknamed him “The Voice” that is so cool!
Yesss! Steve Perry one of the greatest voices ever! Journey lost a gem when they lost Steve. You can imitate him but you can never duplicate him. 🎸❤
Agreed! 💯
He is the best for ever and ever....💯🥰
I've always said Journey isn't Journey without Steve Perry.

This was the era of power ballads. Steve Perry is considered among the very best lead singers in rock history.
"Who's Crying Now" is up there too as one of my favorite Journey songs
Yes! I just requested it too, but from the Houston 1980 concert- phenomenal!!!✨✨✨
Steve Perry has never and I repeat never sang a bad song period. One of the greatest singers to ever live. Facts!!!
I would agree, Spicoli :).

sure its got a cheesy video, but this song is one of their BEST.
It was all cheesy back then. They had to rely on their musical talent. No problem for these guys.

How to make a video for 200 bucks by Journey.
