Great reaction as always. Steve Perry and Freddie Mercury are my favorite singers of all time. Please react to Mother Father from the same concert 1981. In case that one gets blocked, please react to open arms.
Steve Perry suffered from severe anxiety and stage fright, you would never know it by their concerts. I was blessed to see them four times in my life twice with my daughter, but they no longer tour and have it to work for over 20 years because Steve Perry could never get past his perfectionism that Fed into his anxiety. He sits such a high standard for himself that it truly ruined his career as a singer.
Was lucky enough to see Journey in the 80's. I still have the ticket stub, the cost was $8! My how times have changed! I loved them then and I still love them today but only with Steve Perry. Sorry, I know Arnel Pineda can sing but it's just not the same.
It's always amusing to me when someone is surprised that a singer sounds good singing live. That used to be a requirement if you wanted to have a singing career. Going back to the 1920s and '30s when radio and records began to create national music stars, whether it was Bing Crosby or Sinatra, into the era of the big band singers, and then into the 1950s with the birth of rock and roll. But whether it was jazz, pop, country, rock, or standards from the great American songbook - singers made their living singing live on a stage. Sure, Steve Perry sounds great. But you'd say the same for everyone from Doris Day to Karen Carpenter, Tony Bennett to Elvis Presley to Freddie Mercury. One day maybe we'll have the same expectations from music again.
Journey, Journey, Journey... What a band, what a singer! So glad I grew up with this! So many hits and memories. The band still tours... Steve Perry isn't the lead singer anymore. He is missed so badly because he was the original lead. Now it's a man from the Philippines named Arnel Pineda and he does a very good job singing all of Journeys hit songs. Great reaction and remarks. 2👍🏼👍🏼up. 😁
You really can't beat the live concert in Houston. Just amazing and out of this world❤ sometimes it's hard to believe that Steve Perry has such a great voice. It's not even normal!!!
You got that right Cliff after seeing different reactions it opened my eyes to how great everyone was in JOURNEY .together they were unstoppable . We were damn lucky to have them and a lot of other groups to listen to. When music was the best
In an interview, Steve Perry explained how the verse beginning street light people came to be included. Journey was in Detroit and had just finished a concert. Steve went up to roof of their hotel to unwind. Co-incindentally, The Detroit Tigers Baseball team had just finished their games and the fans came our of the stadium celebrating. Steve looked down and saw the celebrating and wrote down the words street light people on slip of paper. It impressed how everybody was so joyous and happy and the rest is history.
Its a joy to see someone so young , love a large range of music , like myself. I will be fifty this year and music has been a big part of my life. I love all types of music but Journey is my all time favorite band !!
I've seen Journey in concert at least 4 times and each time, gets better and better. From the very first time I saw them, they were what I call "studio stellar"... In other words, they sound in person, exactly the same way that their studio version of each of their songs, sound.. I love Journey more than any other rock band!!! Yes, they are still touring!!! I sadly missed their last time here in San Diego because I was in the hospital. I will not miss their next concert!!!
LOVE love~~ One of my favorite Journey songs! Must have been a concert in Houston! Love that line!! Dancing in my seat along with you!! Journey is really one of the most incredible bands... that voice... and those instruments!!
You get most excited about Journey songs more than any other group. I grew up with them and I feel that same way every time I hear a song. This will stay with you forever.
Journey in my opinion is hands down the best rock band ever! If you liked this song then you cant go wrong with any of these live videos from Houston '81, especially (Mother,Father) and ( Wheel in the sky)😁
Journey still tours when there isn't a Pandemic, but Steve Perry known in the industry as "The Voice" as he is naturally vocally gifted, left the band in 1998 and has a solo career recent album released in 2018, but Journey does tour with new singers the last one was Phillipeno after 11 years he just retired from the band, give "Who's crying now", "Mother Father", "Dead or Alive", and "Open Arms" all from this same live 1981concert a listen😃
I have to confess that I discovered this song through a reaction video, don't remember if it was your channel, but I'm so glad I did, listened to it dozens of times, makes me feel just like this every time!!!
I had the honor of seeing them perform live at the Long Beach Arena in Southern California back in the 80's. It was fantastic. Steve Perry has such a distinct voice. Amazing.
This was "LIVE" in Houston Texas! This is my favorite LIVE version of "Don't Stop Believin" ... Steve Perry of Journey ... absolutely the BEST Male vocalist in Rock & Roll history! Hey, enjoyed the reaction man 👍👍😎 !
I can’t say enough about JOURNEY...they’re AMAZING...this band is one of my favorites to listen to🎵🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎶❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽SO SO AMAZING!!!!! I WOULD LISTEN TO THEM ON BUS RIDES AND REPLAY THE MUSIC OVER AND OVER UNTIL I KNEW THE WORDS!!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Never enough Journey! ❤ saw them in concert 1982 in Chicago suburbs and that weekend, they played a charity softball game in Crystal Lake against DJ's and staff from The Loop radio station. Was awesome!
Sadly Steve Perry had a terrible, crippling hip injury in 1996 and stopped touring or making music. Tremendous loss, as you said one of the most amazing voices in history.
Journey was my first concert in '83, the tour (Frontiers) following this one. I still remember the red piano and Steve Perry's amazing voice. What a great introduction to live rock; I've been blessed to see many great artists since. I can say I lived during a golden age of rock music and saw many of them in their prime or after they had established themselves.
Lyrics and musically this is probably one of my top ten all time favorite songs! This is a great live performance. A quick story.. drummer Steve Smith was in Ronnie Montrose band before Journey and they were both playing at Scope in Norfolk in 1978. Bruce Hornsby was playing locally across the street at the Holiday Inn Scope. Steve Smith came over to the lounge and sat in with Bruce playing Seven Steps to Heaven. It was a great evening.
I love Journey more than any other rock band on the planet. Whether it's this original lead singer, or Arnel Pineda, Journey STILL ROCKS more than 35yrs AFTER their hey-day!!!

I have seen they 4 times with Steve in the band ,never with the new guy .
Steve Perry suffered from severe anxiety and stage fright, you would never know it by their concerts. You're such a sweet guy....always a joy to watch.
Agreed. He seems like such a genuinely nice guy. I really enjoy his videos.
100% Agreed..
ITA!
That's exactly what ppl told me when I shared one of his videos on Steve Lukather's fb page.
@Ivan For me it's not black and white, it's old and young. I get a kick outta seeing younger folk enjoying the music I grew up with and love.
“Some will win, some will lose, and some are born to sing the blues.” There it is!
GAAAAAAWWWD! I love this song. I'll never get tired of it. And don't get me started on "Open Arms"
I love this song so much!!! It’s my alarm every morning for work. So listen to it everyday and haven’t gotten tired of it.
@@jmpjag Brings back memories of my childhood for sure. I think he should do Tom Sawyer, Rush
Legendary Steve Perry🔥🔥🔥

berdy I’m so jealous! I always wanted to see them live.
@wayouttatune2 Dude, that was you?!
@@cw5451 I was lucky. Those were the good ole days when a concert ticket didn't cost an arm and a leg!
Saw them in Philly in 86, favorite concert of all time!!
I agree! Journey isn't Journey without the "Voice".. Steve Perry sings from the heart and Arnel doesn't even come close..
That’s why he’s known as “The Voice”.
I was at that concert and it’s one of the best I ever went to.
Led Zeppelin was just as unbelievably great
🔊🔊🔊
Tom Jones was "the Voice" way before Steve Perry.
He's a little guy with a huge voice
Sinatra was the voice when Tom jones was still in short pants.
@@sharonpreston4925 Sinatra is a little guy too. I guess we get blessed with one every generation.
Steve Perry is one of the few singers who sound better live! Just awesome!
Autotune who? Never heard of her.
So does heart Kansas Bette Midler pink
And that's why he's known as The Voice.
Steve Perry...THE VOICE! Love him so much!!
Steve Perry is a rock God ......Everyone loves Journey 😍
Neal Schon is such an underrated guitar player !!
Not by me. All of Journeys members just full of talent.
Played with Santana learned from the best.
"Stone In Love" from this same show really highlights that fact.
@Linda Muniz He was one of the guys who played when Santana recorded Black Magic Women.
Do you know the first album of Hardline from 1992? Neil can really step on the gas and his guitar sound is fantastic.
One of the greatest voices ever, I can listen to Steve Perry all day.
The studio held him back. Steve rocks. I saw him on the Frontier's tour, (this song).

Yeah , no auto tune in the mic.
Steve Perry...one of Rock's Greatest Voices...I was fortunate enough to see them live several times in the 80's with Steve Perry...
“Open Arms” by Journey and “Oh Sherry “ by Steve Perry
Journey, Journey, Journey...
What a band, what a singer!
So glad I grew up with this!
So many hits and memories.

So many hit songs by Journey , Steve Perry has a beautiful voice 😁

Fantastic song. So great to see how much you liked Steve Perry’s voice. He’s one in a million!
Journey is great. Lots of hits, and of course that special voice. :)
he's a legend
Please listen to Steve Perry’s ‘Oh Sherry’
"Oh Sherrie" , Steve co-wrote this about his girlfriend at the time.
Something crazy I just found out is that sherry lives near me now

You should react to "Lights", by Journey, the single "Foolish Heart" by the bands lead singer Steve Perry ( the official video).
Yes to both of those!! 💯

Nice- Cool to see people get so excited about the music we grew up with.
Such a fantastic band live, not one note out of tune..powerhouse performance, just amazing

Steve Perry was with Journey between 1977- 1988. He rejoined for 1 more album in 1996. He has solo albums as well and still going.

Check out, Mother Father and Open arms, from the same concert😊👍👌👍😊💐💐💐
My teenager days! This song came out when I was 13. I listened to it many, many times a day.
