The line in this that always struck me was, "My father... he liked me." So simple and yet says so much more than some big blustery emotional declaration. Plus, how many parents love their children, but really don't seem to like them much as people, to actually enjoy their company? Because that line seems to say so little, it says so much.
the greatest thing ive ever heard on youtube - when I see kids that were like me in my situation, it makes me sad. but when i was a kid none of that mattered to me. - thats it, thats the goat quote. thank you for taking time during the experience of the song to surface that moment for us.
I remember when I first heard this on the radio. They had a battle of the bands or some type of thing each night with new songs. They didn't know what to make of this song. It was so different than everything else out there, but I fell in love with this song.
This is my life, this is what I miss. My mom and dad. I had epsilepsy growing up and when I would have an attack, my mom would hold me, wrap me in a blanket and rock me back and forth until I came out of it. They are both gone. I am very ill, and I want to be with them. Sir, you are a wonderful young man. I wish I could give you a big hug and have a long talk about life, music and how things should be on this planet. Thank you.
Oh that keening and Limerick accent.. RIP Dolores... you are missed by the world... it's been a little over three years now and still the void remains... and always will.
Her voice is haunting.. The emotion she could project was truly incredible. I miss her so much and am so glad I was able to witness her magic in person.
The Irish have suffered so much from slavery and wars . She knows it and lived it. This song is one of my favorite songs of all times. We lost a treasure when she passed. I'm American and remember in the early 90s having their CDs. I wish she was still around today
I feel you... I grew up listening to her and it was so hard when she passed. I can't imagine being Scot and losing a national treasure. Hang in there, John.
So sorry. Hope life can get better for you in the future and you can cope with the loss. A total stranger in England is crying now. Not sure if that makes any difference but well, people do care x
Delores was very beloved here in Ireland. It was very sad she passed. She gave us all the gift of music, along with her wonderful band. I think you have a kind, sensitive soul. Thanks for the reaction.
This was my peak teenage years and The Cranberries sounded very different from the rest of the music in that scene. The sincerity in her voice just cut right thru and was impossible to resist
This song is so beautiful ❤️ Dolorous had the most beautiful voice and the world has lost a beautiful soul.😇 So sad she passed away at the age of only 46 .She had so much more to give . RIP beautiful Dolorous 😪
Yah listened to this.every weekend in Michigan when missing home. It just sounds like home and my childhood. Missed my mam and dad listening to it. She had a way of overwhelming the soul with emotion. A rare gift indeed. Rip beautiful soul ❤️😘Ireland forever 💘 miss the hurling aswell 😂
Love your reactions! It's not about race. It's about money and culture. Poor is poor. I remember my Dad lowering me carefully into a dumpster at 10 years old, behind a grocery store, to get the produce that was a little past the due date. I think I understand what you're saying.
I got to see the Cranberries live. She said she was going through a hard time when she wrote this song. I just remember how beautiful she sang this. RIP Delores.
Bless, you have a good heart. I'm of irish decent and grew up in the UK. We went to Ireland every summer and it was like stepping back in time. Still troubles there same as many places but the beauty of the people shines out. Love Delores, the Cranberries and her voice was like no other.
I'm 63 I discovered the cranberries christmas 2017 from a group I was in. I loved what I heard and started to love their music. One month later Dolores died . I'm a big fan now.
Their songs were, beautiful, powerful and emotional when they were brand new. Now with Dolores gone they are even more so, it is difficult to listen to them and not get choked up.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written, sung with her haunting voice. I was 13 the first time i heard this song and needless to say it made a huge impression on me and is still to this day one of my favorites of all time.
I love your touching response to this beautiful voice of a brilliant artist and this beautiful, unforgettable music that will forever be in our hearts. Warm greetings (from Poland) to you, brother (JBLETHAL), and to all admirers of Dolores' great talent.
The lyric at the start of the second verse “understand what I’ve become it wasn’t my desire and people everywhere think something better than I am” so deep and personal man
I love your genuine reaction to this iconic song from The Cranberries. Dolores was in a generation kind of singer and your feelings about the song perfectly echo mine.
First up, I absolutely love your channel. I stumbled across reaction videos recently and you are by far my favourite of all. You have a genuineness about yourself and complete open mindedness when listening to a new song. You appreciate talent and are not afraid to show vulnerability or emotion. Inspirational man. Secondly, I absolutely love the cranberries and Dolores is such a beautiful talented artist and her voice alone can bring a lump in my throat and tear to my eye. She is badly missed. I hope she has found true peace. Like you, I didn't really know their work until recently. I'm a couple of years older than you, and from Scotland, so the likes of zombie and linger I do very vaguely remember hearing them on the radio as a small kid but never truly appreciated the songs or lyrics until revisiting them in recent months. I have absolutely fallen in love with this band and it's so bittersweet to have done so now and not have the opportunity to see them. I listened to a song last night from them that I hadn't heard yet. It's potentially my favourite song of theirs. It's a beautiful song, the instrumental arrangement, lyrics and of course, vocals are all of of this world. Please please react to Cranberries - Now You're Gone (official video). It is a stunning piece of work and adds to tragic legacy of one of the most underrated and insanely talented artists ever to have braced our airwaves. Again, love what you do, I hope one day you start a podcast/show, I'd certainly be a follower! Keep up the great work brother. And once again, much love for the angel that is Dolores ❤️
This is a delightful reaction, you are blown away from off with her voice, well of course you are, then the lyrics just floor you and your connection with it about your own upbringing. I could have had the volume down and just watched your face and got what you meant. Keep doing what you're doing man. All the best in this YT life.
My era was really the 80s, then I worked abroad for several years and lost touch with the music scene. Much like you, I'm discovering The Cranberries, now, and I find myself transfixed by this vivacious pixie with the ethereal voice (just as everyone else has been), whilst having to reconcile these performances with the fact that she's gone.
The pupils from her old school.sang one of her songs at her funeral. It was etherial. I think its on you tube. You are reminding me just how good they were.
I love this video it's literally like looking back to childhood. Yes it was tuff but there was happiness because we didn't know anything else. We were all the same and we all had eachother. I miss those times its different jie. It's lovely to see someone so young as you with depth it's great. You can see all the emotions your feeling on your face.
How she leads in with the word ‘understand’. It’s so heartbreaking and just hits ya right in the heart, and it just sets you up for one wild emotional ride! Goddess alright!
I love that you aren't reviewing the same songs that everyone else is doing. Thank you for sharing how much these songs have touched you. I appreciate that you lay your emotions out for the world to see. That takes bravery and fortitude. Stay strong. Thank you.
Great reaction my Brother, Delores voice moves you to another level, everything in this video is real and the truth. I've watched it over and over and it shakes my soul, the Cranberries made so many wonderful songs, I would love to see your reaction to 'When You're Gone' or 'Cordell' I think you would like them...
My childhood was very difficult. This song sung by this woman breaks my heart. I'm 51 now and I'm still hurting so much. If it wasn't for my Faith I'd be dead years ago.
One of my all time favorite bands. I spent many hours listening to their music on repeat when I was a teen. My personal favorite is "Ridiculous thoughts" and the song "No Need to Argue" always gives me a lump in my throat.
My all time favourite song by the cranberries there's not many reactions on RUclips to this song unfortunately has deep meaning to me I'm Irish and although I didn't grow up in this situation I had many friends that did Great Reaction my man💚
I like your passion for the Cranberries JB they were one of the finest bands in the world with Dolores and her unique voice she will be entertaining on the other side she was a one off and will live on in our memories. JB you should watch the Cranberries at the Fleadh festival from the 90s you will enjoy that mate and it would be great to see your reaction big man R.I.P Dolores Love
The way you react to these wonderful songs, is a journey in itself for me. Dont stop. 'Live ' ive seen queen with freddie twice. The cranberries twice and far too many more to mention. You inspire me to listen to more and more and im 54 years old. God bless you
Dublin, Ireland lad here, nice review. I´ve heard this tune a thousand times and still get emotional. Proper music! Somebody cutting onions in my house, again lol
Absolutely gorgeous song. One of the 90s very best ... I was a 20 year old student when this came out ... like you I'm gutted Dolores passed, she was only slightly older than me and I definitely had a soft spot for her back in the day. You might want to try "Linger", which was their breakthrough hit :)
Her voice and her light helped me thru so much. A distant cousin to me, I wish her light could have lived so much longer instead of crossing over. Your love of her is much like mine, and you're such a young soul. Stay strong hun!

Literally one of the most beautiful songs i‘ve ever heard, from one of the most beautiful voices ever! This is so emotional!!! 🥺🥰
Grimme1984 listen to Katie Mellua sing I Will Be There ,voice of an angel and a very touching song about her mother
The line in this that always struck me was, "My father... he liked me." So simple and yet says so much more than some big blustery emotional declaration. Plus, how many parents love their children, but really don't seem to like them much as people, to actually enjoy their company? Because that line seems to say so little, it says so much.
Spot on, you're making a (beautiful) valid point.
Dude I've known this song since release and never thought about that line. Damn that is quite sombre and beautifully simple. Thank you!
I love my 3 Daughters as kin and as people, they honestly make my worth living.
Thanks for pointing that out. I always make sure to say I love you but I letting my children know I like them is this week's mission.
Keep writing your poetry; the world needs more beauty in it.
the greatest thing ive ever heard on youtube - when I see kids that were like me in my situation, it makes me sad. but when i was a kid none of that mattered to me. - thats it, thats the goat quote. thank you for taking time during the experience of the song to surface that moment for us.
Her voice and tone can bring any manly man to shed a tear...
You just proved your point. The tears are coming down right now.
This is a tough one, hits the feels every time. So many only focus on "Zombie" and ignore gems like this. Bravo.
I remember when I first heard this on the radio. They had a battle of the bands or some type of thing each night with new songs. They didn't know what to make of this song. It was so different than everything else out there, but I fell in love with this song.
