I know everyone talks about 'Zombie' but 'Linger' and 'Dreams' hit a deeper chord with me. Also as an Irish person it was always just something else to hear Dolores O'Riordan proudly singing with her accent.
ZoLexa Zombie was important when it came out because of the events of the time. But it always sounded lumpen and basic compared to their best stuff. Linger, Dreams and Ode to My Family are miles ahead of it.
While I was teaching English at a German high school 20 yrs ago I used this song as an example of Irish accents! Such a pretty song. The kids (aged 14-15) liked it.
100%. I’m in my early 40’s now and they were huge probably while I was in high school. Not my fav band but just part of life’s soundtrack at that point in my life.
Omg so did it. I would listen for hours on the radio until if finally came on I recorded it and played it over and over for hours lol I still to this day love it so much it’s in my top ten favorite songs of all time.
Went to a concert for $3 at the door at La Luna in Portland Oregon on a random Tuesday night around 1993. I saw dozens of great shows there in the 90's. That night, it was The Cranberries. La Luna was a medium open hall, we were there kinda early and wound up right at the stage. It was beyond amazing. I saw Delores and the band play a whole set from ten feet away and I'll never forget it. There's no video, no recordings I know of, but I wish I had a sound board feed of that whole night. The band that opened for them? Counting Crows. One of the best shows ever, and I didn't even know who we were going to see that night. Walking out a couple blocks away, I saw a poster on a phone pole for the show I just saw. I ran over, grabbed it off the pole, and it's been in my stash of special stuff ever since.
Watching this honestly made me cry. It was so beautiful Watchin another soul hear a song one holds dear. React to it and realize it’s the first time hearing it. Truly amazing. I enjoyed it
I've seen a lot of these reaction videos lately, and it's lovely to see an ACTUAL reaction like yours; a lot of people say words that don't mean a lot, you got this song, and The Cranberries were great. SUBSCRIBED, thank you
I can never pass your reaction videos, no matter how many times I've seen them. Sometimes my heart is torn when you display a genuine, heartfelt emotion. Reactionism sometimes feels superficial, it's not a bad gig but~~~ it's easy to spot the ones in it because they "feel". A true response, even if you are helpless to bare your aching heart...those never get old and I'm pretty sure that's why I always stop on yours... because you will drag me with you...and that doesn't get old~ thanks for the ride
I love, love Linger by the Cranberries. Her beautiful Irish voice. BTW, 80s and 90s were a great time to be young. I appreciate every musical moment of it then and now. I never took it for granted and knew then how special it was.
One of my favourite bands. They got me through some rough teenage years amongst other bands in the nineties so Dolores has a special place in my heart. Loved your reaction man!
erika rodriguez Agreed. That puts us at the same age. It makes you remember how good music used to be. Did they ever disclose the cause of death? I remember realizing her age and wondering how many more people are going to guy prematurely. Michael Jackson at 50, Prince’s death is still mired in mystery and wreaks of foul play. She was wayyyy too young!!
Dashing Dave Jesus! America’s suburbs are flooded. My best friend just died in November. The funeral workers are at risk when embalming a body that may have fentanyl in it, so he was cremated immediately. Only his parents know if fentanyl was in his system or not and they’re very proud. They’ll say there was no fentanyl found even if there was. He had a 17 year career with opioids and the last 5 years saw the drugs take control over him and if you listened to him talk, he had to desire to combat the drug. His girlfriend administered a fatal cocktail of Roxycet, muscle relaxers, etc. and took whatever the hell she was on (her brain was completely drug-addled) and by the time she woke up from whatever happens to dope addicts when they get their fix, he was either dead or his breathing was noticeably suppressed. During the last two years of his life, he would express that he truly didn’t care if he died at all. It was beyond sad. I know that Delores had an episode on a commercial flight where she argued with the pilot or a member of the flight crew and declared herself the Queen Of Limerick. 46 years old and so talented...terrible! Opioids are the more common drug in America, but since there has been a crackdown on doctors who prescribe them, a monstrous market for heroin emerged and it’s claiming lives at an extremely aggressive rate. I know Ireland saw suicides for males ages 14-25 surge over the last 15 years or so and I’m beside myself with grief regarding that. Not all of these people are mentally-ill. There are factors that make them act out in haste and take drastic measures. I hope we can better educate young people and stifle the urge to try these drugs and point out how valuable their lives are and bring these numbers down significantly. Be well!
Dashing Dave The “Great Recession” inadvertently claimed more lives than we sometimes realize, but as long as the wealthy sustained their positions...I mean, I’ve never seen so many homeless people in my life. I’ve heard that the culture in Ireland (and Scotland) put an emphasis on men keeping a stiff upper-lip and preserving their pride. Forgive me if I am wrong. I’ve not been to Ireland and I’m mostly going on words spoken by celebrities and a couple of friends who have family there. In the States, it’s only marginally better than it was (communication-wise) than it was decades ago. We have a big problem with many people being misdiagnosed and our healthcare system is in the toilet! We don’t have doctors anymore. We have businessmen with the bedside manner of a piece of iron. We’re now starting to see the proliferation of Adderall pushed onto young people. I sympathize with those who suffer from depression, but I haven’t any personal experience with it. I’m able to recognize it in friends and others. I’ve noticed a pattern that I can only describe as “immersion” where the afflicted immerses themselves in their work or other endeavors and tend to sleep days away. I know a young lady who used to work for me who started to engage in that pattern of behavior. I found that it’s easier for females to open a dialogue with a responsible male and vice-versa. There is no oneupmanship or competition and the relationship should be strictly plutonic. I’m always 100% honest with my wife about everything I’m feeling for both my own safety and the welfare of others. If I don’t feel up to driving, I relinquish control of the car to my wife. I have bouts of anxiety that manifest themselves as insomnia. There are a few ways to combat insomnia by way of alcohol or America’s new favorite industry since 1985 - Pharmaceuticals...but neither are good. I’m glad to hear you were able to get your arms around the situation before things could get the better of you. My friend would have stopped in his tracks if he saw how much pain his passing brought those who loved him. If you should ever find yourself yourself in a dark place, remember those who spotted the behavior and how much they cared to mention it in the first place. Destruction is easy and that’s why it’s so painful. Helping one another is true wealth. Imagine if world leaders were consumed with creating weapons for what ails humanity instead of constantly inventing weapons to annihilate entire cities in one fell swoop?
RIP Dolores, your voice is of an angel. We lost you way too soon, you had so much to offer the world, not just your singing but making the world aware of the tragic war between Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom and the children that suffered so much. Your music and your dedication will long be remembered.
This song oozes the emotional pain of accepting someone can not,or will not change, while conveying just how much this fact hurts as they really don't care.Rip
It's really hard for me to listen to this song my x girlfriend introduced me to this type of music this was her favorite song then it became our favorite song when we falled in love she sent me the CDs In the feds to me what make it hard for me she died on her way to visit me in PA drove all the way from CT I only had like 3 years left she stuck with me for 6 years in then that tragic accident my Irish and Italian queen just left me just like that was it judgement by God for my wrong doing 9 years wasn't enough I don't know this song and dreams literally make me shed tears thinking about Sara damn I miss her so much my wife knows how much Sara means to me my wife and l put flowers on her tombstone on her birthdays ever year Rip Beloved I miss you rest well love.
Hey JBLETHAL , you own one beautiful soul, eventually you will find the girl that will treat you right. Keep on doing a great job with your video reactions.
I've been watching your reactions since you started your Queen journey. And I really admire your open mindedness in music. You really have good taste in music. I love music! This is my favorite Cranberries song.😍
Ode to my Family is definitely worth your time also. Was a sad day when we lost Dolores. I cried. They recently put out an acoustic album of acoustic covers of their hits, another album worth a listen.
Maybe follow up that song with One Headlight by The Wallflowers that came out around the same time just to mix it up a small bit. I totally associate those two songs together in a way.
I was in college when this song came out in 1993. They used to play it a lot on 106.7 KROQ here in So Cal. It sounded so good on the radio. You should hear "Here's Where The Story Ends" (1990) by The Sundays.
I absolutely love your sense of adventure. In a weird way, I'm proud of it. It gives me hope for humanity that inquisitive people like you exist to seek out the new and different - to see beauty in the "other". I went through a period where for some reason I was only listening to artists who had died too young - Janis Joplin, Aaliyah, Patsy Cline, Dusty Springfield, Billie Holiday, Eva Cassidy, Marc Bolan, Amy Winehouse - ugh so many. It got too depressing and I had to make myself stop.
Hey u learn as u get older ....u jus know ur a pure gentleman an always b dat way don't ever change 4 nobody 💯. I'm 42 an have 2 sons at 23 n 20 an thank god there great coz of me lol gimme a pat on d bk ..ur a nice person an my heart ❤ breaks ..jus know u have friends x
Good men too need to be strong and on their guard, this is universal sweetheart. Thanks for the pleasure of watching you watching one of the songs of my youth.
I love this band, thank you so much. I found out about this band from an old Charmed tv show episode. They were the band in a bar that the girls would go to and when I heard them I had to find out who they were. And I have loved them every since. R.I.P. to the wonderful lady on vocals. Yes here voice brings tears to my eyes every time I hear her, that is majestic . I have all there cd,s and there is not a bad song on any of them, that is rare. And I am a hard rock metal head buy trade.
Always loved her voice. I have a few of their songs on my playlist. They just put me in a melancholy state and makes me reminisce of simpilar times. RIP
I still can't believe she passed :(, she had such a beautiful voice. It was sad too because the band was planning a new album and they seemed to have moved past the issues they had with each other. "When You're Gone" is a great song of theirs, and seems quite somber and even sadder now listening to it. "Tomorrow" is a good newer song they had (from 2012).
How we miss that voice and talent, she left us way too soon. This is my favorite by the group, followed by Zombie and Dreams. This song really gets a hold on you. What's so sad is the many great singers and talent that leaves a void in our lives with their passing.
Musical preferences are like flavors of ice cream and the time period the music was created is like art. No matter when it was created, it can be awesome. I love the Cranberries, too, and mourned the loss of Dolores. We were the same age. I like to watch your reactions. You even mentioned in another video the possibility of not liking a song when you listen to a request. I respect that. Sub'd today.
Couple of other suggestions, James (I don't remember I may have suggested these on another of your videos, if so please forgive me, lol). Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" and "Love Is the Answer" by England Dan and John Ford Coley, probably my 2 favorite songs because of the inspiring message behind both. Like you said in our troubled times, you need that song that inspires you and those 2 do it for me. Try to find the studio versions, there are some live versions on RUclips where the quality of the video isn't very good. I love that you love "Linger", too that song has a special place in my heart as well. Your awesome, JB, keep on smiling!
I totally agree. Annie is amazing. Two of the best are "Love Song For a Vampire" and "Walking on Broken Glass". Walking had that great video with John Malkovich. Hilarious and moving!
Thank you for reacting to this. This is, IMO, the most beautiful Cranberries song. It's my fav. Your message to the ladies was very informed as well. You are a big sweet bear with good musical taste haha!
Dolores Mary Eileen O'Riordan sings with a strong Limerick accent. Limerick is a city and a county in the Republic of Ireland. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam May she rest in peace
I know everyone talks about 'Zombie' but 'Linger' and 'Dreams' hit a deeper chord with me. Also as an Irish person it was always just something else to hear Dolores O'Riordan proudly singing with her accent.
I 100% agree, I’ve always loved Linger and Dreams more than Zombie

Facts!
The strings and snare drum in this song, along with her voice, just sit in my bones ❤
As an Irish person I loved that Dolores sang in her Irish accent. She was an incredible talent.
Love Dolores O'Riordan, her voice and talent were a big part of my teenage years, she left us way too soon, RIP.
100%. I’m in my early 40’s now and they were huge probably while I was in high school. Not my fav band but just part of life’s soundtrack at that point in my life.
Dolores had the voice of an angel. She left us far to soon. This will be one of my favorite songs until I die. Cranberries forever!
You have a sweet open heart and mind. Enjoy your journey 🍑
One more thing, Ode to my Family by the Cranberries is a solid greatness too.
oh yes! brilliant song ..
I'll second that emotion.
Yes truly one of her best but she had so many but a real irish tune so spot on.
Love that song
Yes yes yes...
BTW I was so lucky to be in a Cranberries concert back in the days...
Her own backing vocals are unreal
It's a dreamy, haunting song.
My favorite Cranberries song
The Cranberries - Linger. I remember having this on repeat for hours when it first came out and it drove my family nuts 😋
As I did as well. First song I learned on guitar. And, sang and played in my first recital.
Me too!! And after this I followed it with dreams!!
Omg so did it. I would listen for hours on the radio until if finally came on I recorded it and played it over and over for hours lol I still to this day love it so much it’s in my top ten favorite songs of all time.

ironpony42 sounds like a really cool experience you had I wish I had been there.👍
I freakin love her voice, always have. I especially love when her voice is doubled, like she is harmonizing with herself. BEAUTIMUS
She has one of the best voices and talent as a songwriter ❤
I love what you said, "You can find your story in every genre of music." That's so true!
RIP, I miss her voice so much!! Try Ode to My Family.
She's so beautiful and that lovely accent!
DOLORES had you given your testimony. I know it sux shes passed. She was beautiful. Such an artist. Rest in peace Dolores. 🍀🍀🍀❤❤❤
Hauntingly beautiful voice... RIP Angel
This is one of my favorite songs ever linger..

Her voice is one in a Billion, love this women.. God Bless Her Soul..R.I.P
This song still gives me chills! I just have to bust out singing along with her every time! love, love, love Dolores O'Riordan's voice. RIP.
Showing off that accent made her. She was beautiful, talented, and had that accent.
I'm impressed with your reaction. 👍

In this video she seems an angel
It is impossible not to fall in love with her after seeing and hearing this
This and Dreams are my favorite Cranberries songs.
Beautiful song
This IS THE SONG! Love that you Loved it.
Rest in peace my friend 😢🙏🌟💋
Her voice is back where it came from ❤️
RIP Dolores
It just a wall of swirling, soothing sound of greatest depth and proportions. A song that certainly lingers
Just a suggestion for you James...Try either "Alive and Kicking" or "Don't you forget about me" by the group Simple Minds. Both classics.
RIP Dolores, your voice is of an angel. We lost you way too soon, you had so much to offer the world, not just your singing but making the world aware of the tragic war between Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom and the children that suffered so much. My favorite of The Cranberries! Dolores was a beautiful human and singer. Her voice is hypnotic, and emotional in this song.
Beautiful song. Beautiful band. Beautiful reaction.
One of my favorite songs EVER..... So beautiful
Ps. Please listen to When You're Gone by Cranberries, that WILL make you cry, such a great song.
Maybe follow up that song with One Headlight by The Wallflowers that came out around the same time just to mix it up a small bit. I totally associate those two songs together in a way.
They don`t come much better than this gem.
RIP Delores❤️🌹Linger was my favorite Cranberries song of course all of their songs are amazing 😢
The strings throughout this song are some of the most beautiful I have ever heard and every time I do hear this song it melts my soul.
The power of music, connection, and communion with other people. Peace from Ireland!
beautiful song by cranberries hard to not love
So beautiful her unique Irish tone
One of the most underrated bands of the last 25 years.
Zombie (Live in Paris) is incredible, it's their Somebody To Love (Live in Vancouver).
*Montreal. 🤕
Love your channel and reactions, JBLETHAL!!!
Keep up the great work!!!
Kudos!
She left us way too soon. RIP Dolores. 💖💔
You have a beautiful, sensitive soul my friend. I enjoy listening to your reactions, keep it going 👍🏼
She has an angelical voice
This song came out my Senior year of high school. Wow. What amazing memories ❤️
Such a great choice she was a total one off.

The Voice of a celestial being goosebumps
Good men too need to be strong and on their guard, this is universal sweetheart. Thanks for the pleasure of watching you watching one of the songs of my youth.
Duuude...I wanna cry after the message you put in there for women... I love you so much, JB
your memory is a blessing, dolores.
She had a haunting voice. So sad she died. Such a wonderful voice with so much talent
Enjoy your musical journey. Love seeing your reactions to these old classics tracks.
I love this band, thank you so much. I found out about this band from an old Charmed tv show episode. Aaah James......Love can make a fool out of the best of us.....but a great reaction from you as usual.
Always loved her voice. I have a few of their songs on my playlist. They just put me in a melancholy state and makes me reminisce of simpilar times. RIP
I love the singers voice it sounds like a poem set to music. I'll bet her family misses her so so much. So sad 😪😪😪
You are really in tune with yourself and life. We need more people like you.
The first few times I heard this song I didn't even try to grok the lyrics (something I typically do right away). So hauntingly beautiful.
love how your react - not just hearing! thanks for your emotions. that´s what is about music!
Back to my student days -love listen to this again.
THE BEST CRANBERRY SONG PERIOD! RIP TO THE LEAD SINGER!

Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" and "Love Is the Answer" by England Dan and John Ford Coley, probably my 2 favorite songs because of the inspiring message behind both. This is a very groovy song. I just got back from Ireland...miss you, Dolores.
React to “Why” by Annie Lennox. Another song that is among one of my favorites of all time.
And 'no more I love yous'
Candee M. That’s a good one too.
I totally agree. Annie is amazing. Two of the best are "Love Song For a Vampire" and "Walking on Broken Glass". Walking had that great video with John Malkovich. Hilarious and moving!

Cool reaction bro. Linger is my favorite Cranberry song. The way the violins sound in the song. Dolores pass too soon. This is a timeless song 😥
