An old-timer at the RC field many years ago taught me that as soon as you go inverted (or launch inverted like you did) put your thumb behind the stick so you can only push and never pull the elevator stick. Of course this only works with Mode 1, and is one of the many benefits of Mode 1 for aerobatic flying. Separating the elevator and aileron sticks allows much more precise control over Mode 2.
@@Green_Tube Unfortunately, that method isn't easy to apply on a swept wing because it applies to the area of the wing. On a squarish wing, the 33% distance from the front of the wing works fine because it's also 33% of the area. Not so on a swept wing. Once you go through the math of determining where 33% of the area falls, the CG ends up being much further back. Having the profile construction making the body itself act as other lifting surfaces makes it even trickier. Personally, I would just take a wild guess before adding any electronics and chuck it to see how it glides, then adjust from there to find where the CG should be. Math gives me a headache.
Launching a plane upside down is a difficult task that should only be performed by someone well practiced in flying inverted. You really set yourself up for failure on that one. Awesome build by the way. It seems to be a very nice compromise between both low speed and higher speed performance. Good job.
Nice built and nice flying. Back then 25 years ago we printed the plans mirrored (or rather copied them with the copier) and then ironed them onto balsa wood with an iron. I don't know if this works with paper foam boards also. But might be worth a try.
I used to build a lot of Steve Schumate models and he recommended against hot glue due to the weight and recommended foam safe CA. Have you tried that?
Thanks for posting this. I bought 10 acres away from any populated areas. With the intent of flying model airplanes. Under the current regulations that would be difficult. This would work.
I honestly don't really know, I don't have one set up at the moment, and I never really measured. My guess is somewhere around 1/3 back from the front of the wing.... ish... I just move the battery around until I like how it flies.

Hmmm, I have added ailerons to one of them since then but I have yet to fly it! What I did was add a single servo in the centre of the fuselage that controlled both ailerons. But again, I haven't tried it to see if it works in the air:)
O.K., so I used a Firefly 2 camera, and it, with the 3d printed mount I made, weighs 38g. However, on the plane I mounted it on, I built lighter than the one shown on the video- I used as little hot glue as possible, I used lighter 5g servos and a tiny little receiver. It all just squeaked under 250g by a gram or two.
@@LukaMeglajec-o2z The camera is standalone. it has no wifi or anything, so you just press record and then start flying. There's no way to see your footage until you get to a computer and download it.

Just watch out guys for the density of the foam board cause it has a big impact on the weight of the plane. I used by accident high density foam board and it added 60 grams to the rc plane😬

Sure thing, the camera I had mounted on the plane was a Firefly 2. I did need to make the plane lighter to keep it all under 250g though.

I was taught a trick years ago about flying inverted. You imagine that your stick is extended down through the bottom of the transmitter.
