As always, clear and well presented - bonus point for sleeved cards ;) I've only played the base game once (roughly a year ago). Our group generally had positive reviews.
Great video, I think I will back the game once they open up the late backer option. I have never played the original but have heard nothing but high praise for it. Thanks again!
Hi Eleni! As always, a great video with clear and precise explanations. Before each of your videos, I invoke the gods of temperance so as not to go and click somewhere where my pennies would disappear :-) I had played the first version of it, finding it quite good, but with some balancing faults that made me sell it after a few games. Obviously with this version, the faults have been erased, and the game seems to find all its power, which is a very good thing, given its obvious potential. Thank you for the presentation, I hope all is well with you!
Thanks for another great video. I just bought Kemet a few months ago, so I'm on the fence with this Kickstarter. I think I'll wait to see what stretch goals get revealed before deciding, but your video definitely helped me be more informed.
Looks amazing, not to say that original 2012's Kemet was lacking in terms of visual presence, but now everything is just much more immersive, as you have said. The inclusion of the 4th pyramid in the 2.0 base game is a very wise choice, as it was the best element of Ta-Seti expansion. Excellently made video as well. The presentation is clear, the transitions - not disturbing, camera work helps to grasp the visual beauty of the game. Good job!
Nice summary. Kemet is my favourite game, but I'm only half sold on the new version. The new minis look great, though I'm not crazy about the bleached-out power tiles, much preferring the original full colour art work. You can download the rules for the new version, so upgrading comes down to aesthetics. What is the role of the mercenaries - I noticed these listed on the Kickstarter page. I noticed that Bastet decided to pay you a visit.
The mercenaries were introduced with the black/onyx pyramids from Ta-Seti expansion. There's 2 Lvl 1 tiles - each gives you 3 mercenary figures. As a result you can have have a 3rd 5-figure army.
I agree... Love Kemet, but I'm not entirely sold on this new version. the aesthetics look great. love the minis, and the player boards. The pyramids look ok, but the four sided dice were a neat idea. But I can see why they went for minis. Especially since the shape of the dice are wrong for pyramids. I definitely want to give it a playthrough at some point.
the board artwork looks awesome. The pyramids remind me of the pyramid material from Tikal. Yeah i agree the darker aesthetic fits...shit now i kinda regret buying the previous version just few months back (but i like the box artwork on the original) Might still get this for the aesthetic and larger minis. cheers for the review mate
@@CardboardRhino waaay ahead of ya *P ran ova to the kickstarter afta your video and pledged for the god tier. Cheers again for keepin us in the loop, would've sukd to miss out on this kickstarter.
Got this a few weeks ago! this video is a godsend, so thanks...the only thing I am still confused about is the silver and gold action tokens...and I don't see them explained very clearly. It seems like they are just added by the use of power tiles and just used like regular actions? It looks like the gold one goes on top of the pyramid on the player board, but I'm still a little foggy on this. Throwing it down with some friends next week.
Thank you very much for the videlo, extremely clear presented as a crystal and generally speaking very nice presentation. Firstly, I had some second thoughts about it, but now I am decised to purchase it. Just I would like to ask you, if I have to have the other version of KEMET in order to play it. Thank you very much in advance.
Great video, and love your explanations! Thanks! I wonder what your thoughts are on Kemet vs Ankh? Both are Kickstarter games, both feature ancient Egyptian gods battling for dominance and even the board layout is incredibly similar! Curious what your thoughts are on the differences and which one you're more excited for maybe? Also, what music is playing in the background at 3:21? Sounds really beautiful and ancient Egyptian themed!
Thanks Mo! Unfortunately I can't offer my opinion on Ankh as I haven't played it! I'm glad you like the music, the song is Desert Caravan, you can find it in the youtube creative studio free library ;)
This upgrade would have been good on 2013 but currently i dont have a lot intrests for it as there dudes on the map games i prefer more. Thanks for the video so it was possible to see new version.
HI Eleni, this is a new edition, of the same classic game but with refreshing adjustments, and new details. So this si better than the original core game. The box seems smaller than the original. In your opinion wich are the more important change or differences between them.
Hi Waldemar! This is a prototype, the box will not be as small as the one on the video, it'll probably be same size as the original or bigger (I don't know about that). Regarding changes, the setup is better now, more dynamic, the map and the minis and the art are an obvious difference, the iconography in cards and some small changes in combat like the way you can play Divine Intervention cards.
This game feels like Ankh and Titans combined and Kemet preceded them both anyway. Backing this game versus backing the other two combined(all in+shipping) saves at least 82% of the total cost.
I am looking for a game that is fantasy or horror based with at least a somewhat decent story that can be played in a decent amount of time per session. 30 - 60 minutes. As well as a small to medium footprint on the table. I enjoy Dungeon Saga and Eldritch Horror, Descent and Hexplore It. I use to think I enjoyed Dungeon style games more but after watching gameplay of Fortune and Glory and A Touch of Evil as well as playing Hexplore it I think I am leaning more toward Adventure. Exceptions are games with a good town aspect included like Dungeon Saga and Shadows of Brimstone. A friend of mine said I may like a couple of the tiny epic series. Do you have any suggestions?
Great theme and I agree, gorgeous art. Unfortunately, being primarily a solo gamer, I'm not sure I could justify the outlay for the time it would get to the table. It's unfortunate as I love ancient mythologies represented in games. Great presentation as usual CR.
Thank you for the explanation. I'm going to be playing this next weekend. I hope it plays well at 2 players. Side note: you are beautiful, if you don't mind me saying.
Good summary. I have the original which I painted up so I don't think I'll be buying the new version. Plastic pyramids top level look a bit fiddy which is why you had them in upside down I guess.
Will the game get shorter in this new edition? There is always so much downtime when people are buying tiles. I also liked the pyramids in the other version better, much more clearer.
I have the old (existing?) edition with the Ta Seti expansion (I wasn't interested in the 1 vs all Seth expansion). I love this game and have already backed Blood and Sand. Is the board now fixed, or is there still an even-numbered players side and an odd-numbered player side? Does this mean that there will also be a new version of Cyclades on the horizon?
Everything is on a single-sided board now. There are one-way and two-way ports along the river that make all cities within 4 spaces of each other. It's actually pretty genius.
Played the original game only twice, was lucky and didn't buy it back than to get the new version. But the dice pyramids in the original version were better as this pyramids.
Okay, i played this. Hear me out. Teleport is too cheap. It should either be 2 prayers per unit in the troop or 1 prayer per unit in the troop. The main issue we had while playing is no one really traveled the board everyone just teleported anywhere at any time for free sometimes with DI cards and there is no movement just battles. I think it would give the movement a focus and drive people to move out of their base pyramid. This would encourage sending smaller troops to hold places of influence and moving bigger armies from your pyramid. Allowing them to be seen and exposed.
Never understood the love for Scythe, which borrowed heavily from Kemet among others... Kemet is a much more elegant design and the decisions you make are interesting, not stifled by weird design decisions IMO.
A fair warning about Kemet ; blood & sand. The rulebook is one of the worst I have ever read, and on top of that googling solutions is difficult because of older games and hybrid rules
I like your filming style. Very clear review. This game looks great.

Hi thanks for this video. From where did you get the plastic obelisk minis? Not seeing them as included components on the KS page.
those figures have to be risen mouldes right? Becasue there is no way the sculpt quality can be that detailed - right? They look amazing

What's up with the purplish storm(?) area on the player board? Does it have to do with lore behind the game?
on the map? I don't know about the lore but I think it's used for better orientation of the map

Apart from the new map design and the pyramids the rest feels like a downgrade, the cards in particular are ugly to look at now.
I am almost certain that the attacker wins in case of a tie... This is is line with the agressive nature of the game...
